La Grasserie's 2x400w SCROG Greaux
Greetings again IC!
I am back with the second incarnation of my perpetual hobby. The last grow was very successful for my first run, I lived high and mighty for many a moon. But alas, all good things must come to an end, my jars lay empty and my pipes cold and unpacked. So lets make some more magic! I have learned much about my main strain, Jock Horror, and it will again make up the majority of this grow. It is joined by a few Northern Lights x Big Bud (a mediocre smoke, IMHO), some Indoor Mix (my fav), and a new mystery strain, gleaned from high quality bag seed I came across this fall. Here are the specs: Lighting: 2x400w HPS in a 12 sqft. area Substrate: A mixture of FFoF soil, perlite, and my own backyard compost Nutes: Fox Farm regime Technique: Screen of Green Ventilation: One 165cfm inline fan Foliage: 7 Jock Horror (clone), 2 IM (clone), 2 NLxBB (clone), 6 Unknown (seed), all in one gallon pots. This time I am utilizing many more plants (I had ~6 last time) in a slightly smaller, more efficiently lit space. The SCROG method has been employed for greater control of the canopy amongst other benefits. The clones are all female, but I will have to keep an eye out for males in the unknown strain (henceforth dubbed "CharlieWeed") as they are unsexed. The veg time is a little uncertain, they have been under 20/4 lighting since mid-december. Lighting will be switched over to 12/12 this weekend. Now for some visuals, apologies for the contrast issues: The garden, pre-screen (I was using the exhaust to heat my home during this time, it was quite chilly and will probably be routed again soon) Canopy Shots A shot of the clone/veg cab. The small plants in front are actually revegged IM clones, taken at harvest a month back. I was stunned they survived as it was just a half ass experiment. On an interesting note, I have actually stopped smoking regularly. Call it a cleaning of the mental attic if you will. The last harvest more than satiated my cannabis receptors...time to give em a little break. And yes, my partner Guillamo is back to assist me when proximity is not possible. Stay tuned, the best is only to come. La Gra |

La Grasserie,
Happy New Year, and good luck on your new grow!! I currently only have one 400 W Hps but would like to add one more asap. Your screen looks a little tight? I scrog also but have about 3 inch squares to grow through, and tie down too. You may want to look at that, I would hate to see those girls get choked in the small holes. Well good luck and have a great 2009!!!!! Later, Nickel

Wow, time sure flies.
Its been good minute since I've graced ICMag as evidenced by this prematurely abandoned grow report. I'm actually just now yeilding the rewards of my 3RD grow, but for posteritys sake, I'll set the record on this one. Final result of all those plants up above (harvested in march?): ~2oz Quality: Mediocre to Poor Explanation/Remorse: This run was plagued with trouble and ill planning from the start. The plants were never potted up from those small squaries. Starting soil was crap from my yard. Feeding schedule became crappily attended to. Training was to harsh and plants were perpetually stressed. The rootbound medium was probably to acidic and locked out nutrients (plants were continuously stunted and yellow). Crap Crap Crap. We ended up hashing most of the plant matter. Moral of story: Don't do intense training in small pots with schizophrenic care unless you KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. I also don't think Jock Horror does well in low profile, grow her out and let her breath! The third run went quite well though, I'll post up some pics of the yield (~3ozs decent grass) or possibly disappear for another 4 months =p |
