Lightbulb The ICMag Creative Writers Group.

Hello all. I am spaceghost22. I am one of many, many growers here on these forums and also am one of many aspiring writers. Presently I am writing to a member on the process of creative writing and a smattering of other related subjects. While I am no expert I am willing to assume that there are bonafide working writers who frequent this site.

Everyday I see people congealing into groups with other people of like mind under all different banners and guises. Seeing as writing happens to be REQUIRED on most message boards I feel that it would only be appropriate to have a thread which is dedicated to this wonderful pastime/hobby/fetish, writing.

It would be wonderful for all of you, writers or aspiring writers, to "clique up" and join in this common cause; To take what we enjoy to the next level. Lets work together on all of those incorrect grammatical instances and misuse of our most cherished or words. Let's form a "friendly society" if you will, one which advances us in a very real way.

While I always have many ideas I cannot do this alone. I would very much appreciate your input and feedback. Perhaps we could name our little hole in the wall here on ICMag and proudly broadcast (or not) our membership in our sig?

Like in the days of yore, perhaps the time of these two, one Mr. H.P. Lovecraft and Mr. Edger Allen Poe, we can join in a good old fashioned writers circle... just for the hell of it.

So what say ye, YE OR NAY!?

While you're deciding, enjoy with me one of my first buds... I'm so proud of this... HA!!!!

Indeed! Welcome aboard the group/circle hunt4genetics!. You are the first member! This is worth more than anything I could give you.

I'm really hoping that the people here will take this at once, seriously and lightheartedly. This is a rather rare opportunity for writers to receive feedback from other writers (EDIT: And, my favorite, to recommend REALLY SWEET BOOKS to one another). I'll say that I struggle with punctuation like a MAD MAN. I use it all the time but find that I often question whether or not it is correct. I could go read, the proof is on every page I know, but this age old saying stands true in my case; "We Learn by Doing".

Let them flood to this thread with giddy delight and much, much joy!

I cant wait until the first exercise!

Come on, join up everyone!

if only english weren't my second language mate, its a great idea tho. i'd be embarrassed by my declining english vocabulary. it has been over 10 years now since i lived in the states. i keep getting worse, nowadays i find myself constantly stopping when writing or speaking, lost for english words. that never used to happend to me the first 5 years after i lived there.

think its about time to revitalize my language skills, but i dont know if your circle is the right place for me.

great idea, and great thread by the way. i hope you guys share some of your material with the rest of us.

Welcome, welcome. Well, I don't think you'll have to worry about all that here... Though you mentioned that you wrote a short story, is that what you're into? I think short stories are the way to go in an environment like this one, agree?

arcticsun, thank you for digging my ice fishing shots. I took those around this time of year last winter. Those are some of my favorites from the whole of last year.

I've both heard and read in different places that reading and writing help build the vocabulary and proper syntax amongst other things. This is definitely the place where you want to be. At least one place. I don't know if I, a native speaker, will ever really have a command of the language that I'd like

This shouldn't be an environment where you'd have to feel embarrassed by anything having to do with your English. I'd like to consider it more of a creative outlet within the literary world having an emphasis on improvement. By hanging out here it's understood that you'd like for others to review your work, as work is what it'll always be considered.

I'm not even too sure as to how things should be conducted around here. I'm having thoughts right now toward PMing our work to one another for review as opposed to open posting any work. This way we won't have row on row of congested thread pages and the author can spare themselves review from the non-writing public. Perhaps work will only appear generally at the writers request or after general agreement of the writers assembly. I don't know. As was written earlier, this is a project still in infancy. It's up to all of us now as to how things should proceed further.

Before I log off I want to suggest that everyone who wishes to be "signed up" would link to this page in your signatures. I'll try to explain for those who may not be so sure how to do this... This can both be our little 'badge' to the world and will hopefully bring a few more people into the group. The more the merrier I say!

Quote:
1) Click the 'User Menu' selection from the green bar at almost the topmost part of the page.

2) A drop-down box will appear, right-click the 'Edit Signature' and select 'Open in New Tab'. A new window will open with the signature editing box open for you.

3) Highlight everything below and then hit 'Ctrl+C' then select the window with the sig. editing box. Click the box to make sure it's selected (you should see a blinking cursor). Now hit 'Ctrl+V' to paste it into your editing box. MAKE SURE TO ADD A
[ TO THE BEGINNING OF THE SELECTION AND A ] TO THE END. BEFORE THE URL=, AND AFTER THE /URL.

URL=https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=2053511#post2 053511]The ICMag Writers Group/Circle[/URL

4) Click the 'Save Signature' button and we're all done!
If anyone disagrees or has any further questions on this, please state your case/question here please.

I think we all need to have a discussion to further establish the details and then we can be on our ways to author-hood (hopefully!). So now let me insist that all interested members give some input. This is our group, not mine.

I wrote a play for ICmag......but perhaps a more focused and deliberate literary effort is what you are envisioning?

Anyway, my play is called "George W Bush Meets George Washington:"
