cornflake grows dc/rks and dc/bk

as others have done, so did I

soaked 20 beans (dc x bc rks, and dc x bubba's kush), 20 grew tails and went into coco-filled peat pots

that's where the good news ends

i didn't label them so we'll call them Group A and Group B (i did separate them so i know they are grouped correctly)

only 5 beans of group A germed
and 7 beans in group B

since then i've been watching the cotyledons wither and die, on one seedling then the next, this usually signalled the plant's death in a day or two)

i've had to be super-vigilant to try and keep these girls alive, humidity, temps, moisture, feedings, ph neutral rain water, NO NUTES!!, and checking them 3-4 times a day now with a mister to keep a nice humidity

it seems to finally be paying off

i've even managed to save B2 from early self implosion, i watched the cotyldon wither and finally after 3 days on death's door new green growth sprang through!! i was happy

it looks like B5 won't make it, but notice how she remains straight despite her dead leaves......environment is good, despite being virtually dead she lives because it's dialed in

i really hope the gals can pick up and start looking like the test grows we're seeing. I'm starting to see roots through the sides of the pots, they'll go into 6 inch pots soon

Nice to see someone running the Bubba , despite my thread reading like one long moan about slow growth they are looking to be worth it now.

Eight seeds in my tester , all popped and six came up looking good in fresh JohnInnes seed mix with perlite.

Had a problem last year with seedlings looking very much like yours and tracked it down to an old half used bag of compost , the pH of the runoff was around 5.

Best of luck with the intensive care.

no nutes? if you grow in coco you need to give them xtra calcium & magnesium like calmag or revive i feed mine with a very light nute feed in the begining & use revive from start to finish.I keep my ph between 5.6 -5.8 during veg & 6.0 - 6.2 during flower.

Hi cornflake

Rough start.

I am not a coco grower, but dont give up on those yet cuz I have seen plants grow out out of that early stage mutation and be decent plants. Depends on if you have the room and determination to stick with them to the end. You really only need a couple keepers from each pack anyway to make it worth it.

I have heard the opinion that cal mag needs to be added to coco pre planting but I don't agree.

I've grown out maybe 30 coco grows over the years without it and never see the kinds of problems I'm experiencing.

The plants have enough stored nutrients (along with micronutes available in rain water) to get going.

I do appreciate your input icon, and I may yet trial a cal/mag run soon to compare with a run without.

Hi CF1,

I spoke with CF1 via pm earlier and although I don't normally move my seedlings into bigger pots until I see roots poking through my jiffy pot, this time I will, to try to save them.

I have transplanted and they all look ok.

Will update in a day or 2 =)
