Cigar Humidors for curing the head stash....
First off I'll say that I despise overdry pot. Burns too fast, runs, loses smell and taste. That was my problem with the stash boxes sold. Its great to have the screens for kief/hash but I use my trim for hash making. 90% of pot is OVERDRY IMO. I'm of the belief that good pot should be just like fresh tobbaco. Burns nice and slow/even. When the humidistat is kept at 40-50% humidity inside the box and the taste, smell and experiance of the pot truly takes on a new meaning. Not to mention they are far cheaper then a stash box.
I have one that fits a half P for the head. Bought some pot and it looks smells good but is too dry? Put it in the humidor and 3-4 days later it will be perfect! Can't recommend it higher for curing head bud.....Takes on nice cedar (or whatever wood the box is lined with) overtones after its been in a week or so to cure. Controlling the enviorment inside the curing container is vital IME for taste, smell, potency and a clean smooth draw. It cures while not losing any weight or the good things like smell, taste and smokeability. Peace

*waves High!* for a nice slow cure (operative word being "slow") ... after hanging your buds to dry, when they feel dry to the touch... place them into DRY humidores. Don't put any distiled water into the sponge! Each day open the lid for about 15 - 20 minutes. This is MUCH better than using paper bags. When finally dry... go to the glass jars. If you dont get the bud dry to begin with.... mold can be the issue.
You can then take amounts from the jars and keep them in a conditioned humidor... use distilled water. The wood that most are lined with is called Spanish Cedar (isnt a true cedar at at all, its in the mahogany family)... and is used because it doesnt mold when damp. Buy some humidores on sale... try them side by side with paper bags... assure you that it will take much longer to get the "snap" from a stem than in paper. Your smoke will be the true test...... smooth as silk! A 50 cigar humidore holds about 2 oz of indica. *waves bye* Akiko

zep,
Now that is the breeders kit man, no doubt! Very, very nice. Very nice selections inside as well Have you tried it for curing/maintaining head stash? Like Toleca E stated mold can occure if you put too moist of bud in it. The time to put it in for cure/maintance is at the point you'd be jarring and burping. So long as the humidity doesnt go above about 51% it will not mold. If the humidistat does go up above 51% and up I will let the lid open for 30 mins at a time and then close it recheck a few hours later and see if its cool. It takes a bit of burping if it goes in too moist. Just depends on how dry it is when it is when you'd normally jar. After you get the nugs to stay in the 40-50% humidity it is then ready for the supreme cure. Hold that for 1 week minimum and when you open the box your heart will start thumping lol. Not to mention how it feels, smells and looks. Pot perfection. Now the problem becomes trying to keep the pot in the box long enough to cure a batch for 6 months. I still havent been able to do it. LOL

Interesting...I might get a cigar box and try it just to see what it tastes like.
I hang dry mine in a room with a dehumidifier until the stems snap but not all the way and them into jars they go. They get burped everyday. I smoke the popcorn buds from the time that the bud is dried so I can taste the difference in the cured and uncured buds.
