Who here grows to supply themselves simply so they don't buy it? Out of those people who grows some of their own food? Who brews their own beer? Do you make your clothes? I am well on the way to self sufficiency and am wondering who else has this dream?

I'm more than self sufficient in cannabis and about 25% of my food for 7-8 months of the year. But I'm doing it living in the heart of suburban America, so that has to count for a little something.
We are seriously investigating electrical independence with solar and wind power for our retirement home. In fact, I think solar electrical systems will be one of our first investments in the near future, before the peak oil crash hits. |

I grow my own veggies and my own MJ for myself and my family. I gladly share my MJ with my friends, but you will never catch me in a monetary transaction.

I haven't bought pot since I started growing!!!!
I would like to be totally self suffiecient someday, ya know to where I would not have to depend on anybody for anything. But the reality is I have to see a Dr. sometimes ,and I kinda like the electricity and running water. I also like the TV and this internet thingy (which is a good tool for being self suffiecient) But right now I do most of my own repairs (except the car... I gotta have that) I would like to grow my own food but I eat too much junk . But sometimes I walk to the taco bell, go inside instead of the drive thu, thats kinda self suffiecient, isn't it???

^_^ Ha ha ha Cough_Cough !!!! *grins* Funny but true in my opinion. Think maybe best way to be "self sufficient".... print one's own money... you know, maybe some nice printing press plates in $10 and $20 denominations. *shrugs* Hey... why bother with pot and veggies and stuff... print enough $$$$ and you can purchase a grocery store... or even a chain of them. *waves bye* Akiko

why do you guys think that wal mart is always going to be there?
I don't think it is and it certainly doesn't seem wise to assume so. They believe that you will be thinking just that...cheap beats free, right? Free means work that you do; cheap means you don't work.

In an idealistic world, i would love both myself, and my wife to build our own home, from hemp bricks, and to tend and grow our own vegetables and a few small livestock, and to use solar power etc etc but in reality on our wages, we cant afford to do anything more than rent of some other guy who doesnt care our house is falling down, and we need to use the power in that house through the company, and then the water needs to come from somewhere etc etc, if you get my drift, what im trying to say is we would both love to be self sufficient but modern day living doesnt allow that 100% if you cant afford to pay for your tools and materials..
Nice idealism to aspire to though
