Talking Amsterdam Smoke Report - Just Got Back

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from the DAM - was a great time. Definitely one of my favorites cities. The weather was iffy at best, with drizzle for most of the trip. Nothing an umbrella couldn't solve though so my wife and I made the best of it. She blew a ton of cash shopping, and I got completely blazed. Perfect. This was my third time back and was actually her first time there. I developed a strategy where she could spend pretty much anything she wanted, ensuring a good time. ie - guaranteed future visits. You see, my wife doesnt smoke anymore but she still supports me and my so called "hobbies"

Anyway, we visited a number of coffeshops including Barneys, Greenhouse Centrum, Dampkring, Cafe 420 de Kuil, and Nes. Oh yeah, we hit the Van Gogh Museum too - had to get some culture in there since I am getting older now

Barneys was awesome, especially since we landed at 655AM and were there by 845AM. Let me tell you - you have got to be careful just rolling in there and blazing your brains out. It's always a little tripped out at first when you realize you are smoking in a public place and it's totally cool. Plus the quality is on time so that combined with lack of sleep from the plane ride can really take you on a trip... We went twice - first time I bought Amnesia Haze - second time, Mekhong Haze. Barney's had the best quality of weed of all places we went, this shit was properly flushed. The Amnesia was really strong, it had a strong haze smell and it put me in to LA LA land while I was waiting for my breakfast. I kinda lost it a bit but then came back around after I ate - I blame this on the lack of sleep cause when I smoke the AH later it was totally cool. This was the most potent weed of the trip. They also had Sour Diesel on the menu, which was listed as a "New Sativa x NCYD". I didnt buy it the first day as the AH looked better. I went to get some the second day and it was all gone, like 2 ounces, gone. I was kinda pissed so I got the Mekhong, which I have had before. This is great shit. Last year when I went my friend went white as a ghost when he smoked this, he broke out into a cold sweat and proceded to pass out face down on the table. So that will tell you something. I think it has a different effect on me though, as I found the high very uplifting, but in a mellow way. The smell and taste was a pungent haze, very nice. I would say this could be my fav of the trip - the high was very pleasant, great wake and bake shit.

AMNESIA HAZE

MEKHONG HAZE

Greenhouse has always been one of my favorites as I like the tunes they play and the vibe in there is generally pretty flowin. I snapped up some Super Silver Haze - looked legit, but was harsh due to remaining ferts. Potent stuff but it irritated my throat. Sweet Haze odor and was very crystally. Too bad about the poor flushing, can't say anymore about this specimen. We hung out here every night but I usually just brought dope from other places after I got the SSH. Beers were nice.

SUPER SILVER HAZE

Dampkring was decent but the line to the weedbar was fucking long - I must have stood there for 10 minutes. The menu is still huge, but this is the same shit that was on there 3 years ago. I was hoping to try some cutting edge bullshit on this trip. Anyways it's de Dampkring so it was still cool. The cat was there still. Purchased NYCD and we only hung out there for about an hour or two. The Diesel smelled and looked great, fruity gasoline odor with a similar taste, but it could have been flushed a bit more. The high was typical diesel, really no paranoia at all and very uplifting. It set me straight for the long shopping trip up Kalverstraat with the Mrs. I would say this was my third ranked bud of the trip.

DIESEL

So we wound up at NES twice, once on the first day since I happened to be right around the corner. I was really fucked up when I went in there and dont remember much about the first visit. I told them I wanted their heaviest indica and I was shown their Yumboldt. This was a pretty nice chunky indica, with a soft fruit aroma (from what I remember) I took it back to the room and rolled up a nice phatty. I then proceeded to puke for about an hour. I drank a ton of beer on the first day. The wife was impressed! I ended each nite with the Yumboldt so it did it's job. The last night we went back to NES and chilled out there for a while. They were playing some Lee Scratch Perry so I loved that - I got dubbed out and had a few beers to start winding down after a nice trip.

YUMBOLDT

Cafe 420 was OK - the music was laid back classic rock. There was some crazy old dude sittin at the bar staring at my wife with one eye open. Anyway, the vibe was off so we just had a couple brews and I didn't buy anything there.

The only thing I found dissapointing was the amount of fertilizer left in the buds. They were cured well and completly dry, but a lot were harsh on the throat and the ash didnt really burn that clean. Shit was still potent though. Of all the coffeshops I visited I would say that Barneys had the best overall quality, witht the NES coffeshop also offering up some properly flushed bud.

Here's some other various photos

Of course no trip can be complete with out a trip to the Seed Boutique. I actually stopped in twice and the worker ( I forget her name! Typical. Sorry Girl!) was very friendly. Totally cool. The first day I picked up some Warlock seeds. I've been wanting to work with that for a while and I think there is some great potential there... It will be a while on those as first up are BOGS SB2 and Rez' SD2, the the Warlock - so I will be busy for some time to come - got a bunch of freebees too. So I went twice - I had to go back as they were having a sale on stash boxes. There were a couple limited editions there and I just couldn't resist - you have to check this out!!!!! Fucking beautiful color on this thing!!!!!!

I have been putting the box to good use already. I couldnt be happier with my purchase - damn I love this thing.

So that's all folks - All in all it was a great trip, great beers, great buds and one of the coolest cities in the world. You just can't beat it! Have fun atthe 420 Cup.

Oh Yeah PS - check out this funny pic of this great dane. The owner just rolled up to the butcher and told him to stay while he went inside. That dog didnt move at all! He was a really good boy. This picture just cracks me up - huge dog like that standing right outside a butcher - I guess I am a dog lover

Nice report - wish i was there
Hint for next time - if the Dampkring is busy - go down the road to its sister coffee shop the 2e Kamer - the queue moves faster and is usualy shorter - but the menu is identical

Thanks everyone.

Smoke - Unfortuantely no more pics from this trip (at least no more without my mugg in them  ) I did shoot about 15 minutes of video that I havent looked at yet, so that will be cool. I'm hitting Negril in June so that will be the next smoke/travel report Man - that Stash Boxx is tight isn't it? I wish I had a fresh harvest to load it up with, but I'm not going to have any of my own growth until late May. My operation just got up and running again and I am actually putting the screens on and cutting the lights back tonight.

Bright - thanks for the tip, I've been the de Kamer once before, my recollection was they didnt server beer so I didnt head back down there. I coulda been wrong about that though, only been there once. Since my wife doesnt smoke anymore I kinda kept it to the dual use coffeshops so she would have something to do. One other one I've been to right over there is Dutch Flowers. I dont really recommend that place for Americans though, at least based on my one visit. I caught some bad vibes in there, but this was right around the time of the Iraq war kickoff so..........

Some regrets are from this trip are.... I didnt get to visit Amnesia Coffeshop, which I have been hearing great things about. It seems like they stock a lot of the TH Seeds strains which would have been something differnet to try. I really wanted to try their Sour Diesel too, which I guess is the West Coast version? They did have it the first day at Barneys, but I chose the Amnesia Haze as it looked a better. The dealer said their Sour Diesel was from an American breeder. I dont know Rez locale but I suspect maybe this was one of the BXs. I also dont know why I didnt just buy that too the first day.... I was pissed when it was gone the following morning. Also, I didnt get to hit Abraxas. Their menu is OK, but what is delicious over there are those chocolate hash milkshakes - damn those are tastee. I drank like 5 the last time I was over and this time we didnt even make it there, which is a shame since it's so close to my hotel. That is something I recommend.

So I'm heading to Negril at the end of June and Bubbleman has just given me some great people to get in touch with down there! I'm really looking forward to that trip now. It looks like it's going to be a good year on the cannabis travel front!!!

Nice travel thread and good timing as our event is only a month away now. The big cat at the Dampring is friendly and cool. He prowls around and goes outside as he pleases. Normally sits in one of the stools the patrons use and the cat is very important to the tradition of the place. I have 4 cats so he talked to me and even gave up his seat without any complaint.

Barneys is a good place to get some grade A then? Some good sounding buds from there for sure so we will have to try them out. BOG

Hi BOG,

Yup he was just chillin on the stool staring out the window. I am animal person so we chilled out.

I was thoroughly pleased with Barney's quality this time. The 2 strains I sampled from there were cured well and thoroughly flushed. The Yumbolt I got from Cafe Nes was also grown well I thought. The other shops nuggs all had the harsh fertilizer throat burn - some more than others. I would say the Dampkrings Diesel was the lesser of the evils, if you can call MJ Evil Try that Mekhong Haze at Barneys, the high on that one is perfect morning shit to me. A real cool feeling. The breakfasts there were really good too. I've been over 3 times and this visit was the most impressed I have been with Barneys.

DG had recommended NES, Cafe 420 and Hunters Bar as some good places to score. She was right on Nes and Cafe 420 was a little odd with that crazy guy at the bar, so I didnt buy anything there. Never made it to Hunters though.

I wish I would have hit Amnesia, I havent read a bad review of that place.
