Where'd the bubblegum go?

After posting on OG I'm in the habit of apologizing for being a first-time ignoramous, so, I apologize. Usually on OG my posts drop like a rock so I hope I can get some help here. My question involves bud aroma as it dries. Since I just finished my first grow with an actual female plant in it, I have no experience to refer to. My question is this. Just before I chopped my Bubblegum girl (THSeeds) it smelled very sweet and bubblegummy. After being chopped and hung it smelled skunky and dank. Today is day 5 of hanging in my grow cab (C13). Completely dark, temp. 65, humidity 20% with the fan on low. The branches bend and kink but don't snap yet. Now the smell is hard to describe, but bubblegum it is not. I would describe it more as green decomposition, a little like old grass clippings or hay. Is this normal or have I screwed this up? Is it possible to get the sweet bubblegum smell back after the buds dry completely and cure?

After it dries, cure it in some mason jars. It will come back after a nice cure. They say the longer the better. I try to let my stuff cure for at least 3 1/2 weeks before I really smoke on it.

I appreciate all of your responses. I'll be patient and wait the cure out. I checked again this morning and the branches still bend and kink, so I think I have a few days yet before they go into the jars.

One last question on the subject while I'm at it. In letting the plant hang and dry until the branches are dry enough to "snap", does that mean dry enough to snap in two pieces or make a snap when you bend it? Thanks again all for your advice.
