Nevada to vote on pot in 2006

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal 3-11-05. State legislature to allow a vote in 2006 elections to determine if the people of the state of Nevada will or will not allow the legalization of up to 1 ounce of marijuana. If passed, the measure would let citizens purchase up to 1 oz. in state approve stores. This measure has been critized by every major law enforcement offical with one offical, Sheriff Bill Young, stating that" passing this law would make Nevada the laughingstock of the nation". The Assembly Speaker, Richard Perkins, declared in no uncertainterms that he would do everything in his power to stop the legalization of marijuana in Nevada. (Note; Perkins is the deputy chief of police in Henderson, Nevada and also running of governor of Nevada in 2006.) District Attorney David Rogers ststed "We do not need dope smokers walking the streets of Clark County or any other city in Nevada with impunity".
Rob Kampia of MPP predicted Nevadans will narrowly support the proposal. "We don't expect a landslide victory.
If the new law is passed, in addition to 1 oz. being legal, fines would double for driving under the influence of alcohol or marijuana and for selling to minors.

I hope Nevadans pass this law, but with the super hypocritical Mormon base here I don't know if it will. Also notice notice that the most outspoken critics so far have jobs that depend in most part on arresting and charging "dope smokers".

Article can be found at lasvegasreviewjournal.com. I think that's the correct address.

I would rather get arrested for possession than DUI.. If they find some on you in a car they will proly wizz quiz you, and if you fail they will charge you saying you were high right then.. I dont see it being legal unless they come up with a test to determine that you are high right then.. we will be in big trouble going by a cops judgment on a sobriety test..

plus screw buying if from the state or street dealers.. you should be able to grow it and smoke it in your house ANYWHERE in the world!!

Dont expect a change in the laws. I thought it would be legalized when I was young then I learned about the real world of tobacco and alcohol dominence.

Our Drug Czar stated yesterday on CSPAN that marijuana is a far bigger problem with our youth than tobacco or alcohol. He claims that marijuana is the most addictive substance known as evidence by all the people in rehab for marijuana addiction. What he fails to mention is that everyone caught gets drug court which orders drug counseling for even marijuana users. This is not evidence for addictiveness like tobacco however. No one doubts that alcohol and tobacco cause more harm than all the other drugs but his dinosaur is out there telling the same old lies.

Just grow some and have a smoke. Fuck the law. BOG
