Your opinion on root crops and salt ferts
What do you think about using GH, or any other salt based nute line on root crops? I want to grow hydro Carrots and Echinacea. But was wondering if this would have an ill effect on eating/brewing (tea from Echinacea roots) the roots having full contact with roots.
Ive read about aeroponic Echinacea and how a crop of 8months can be had when it would take up to 3years in soil. So I know it can be done. Maybe a GOOD rinse will do? Thanks everyone. |

Parsnips need to freeze before they turn sweet [turns the starches to sugars]
You'll need super-fresh seed, and even then, it takes forever to germinate, and has a lousy germ rate on top of it. Kudos to you if you can get from seed to harvest with hydroponic parsnips. I have not tried it. Just for fun, I always wanted to get some of the seed they use for giant veggies and grow a hydroponic carrot the size of a tuna in a 55 gallon drum just to say i did it
