questions for HTC breeders
hello all. i know there are other threads on this topic, but i am having trouble finding specific info in one place. and since im using HTC gear for this "little project" and there are a number of people with breeding experience here in the HTC section, figured i would post this here.
heres the situation. i just got done doing a test grow of the skunk ibl. i only grew out 4 plants, three female. the one and only male i got, (so far) i am planning on collecting some pollen from and crossing to a really nice GDP cut we have. obviously, the more specimens i have to choose from the better, but A) its my first time and i am not planning on selling seeds for a living. and B) it is a matter of convenience and timing that i am able to do this right away. since this is an ibl, most of the males should be fairly uniform, correct? if so, is that a general rule of thumb with ibl's? or does it vary from ibl to ibl? next, we will be pollinating one to two branches initially, probably around the 3rd to 4th week of the females cycle. have heard that it is best to cover said branch(s) with a clear plastic bag to prevent pollen from spreading. if this info is correct, any tips? how long should bag be kept over branch(s)? any advice is welcome and appreciated. again, i am not looking to get too technical on first attempt(though im sure i will, and soon) just trying to make some beans because the opportunity has presented itself. ogbub, brotha monk, esbe, anyone is welcome to dispense some advice, and wish us some luck. thank you in advance......sub |

remove the plant your gonna polly from the flower room. pollen falls and blows around, insure no heatin, ac, coolin fans are runnin. use a small paint brush, and startin at the highest point you wanna polly, work your way around the plant to the bottom.
consumation happens very fast once the pollen hits the pistils. within 12hrs i spray the plant with water really good till shes drippin, place back into the flower spot and within a week you can see the seed developin. yes, a population of males from a IBL line should be fairly uniform. depends on how much work was done. get after it

in my exp....If u only want to pollenate a couple branches, cover those w/bag...douse the plant w/water.....shake...take the bag off....then pollenate........then repeat the process again....put tha bag back on the pollenated branch.....douse w/water again to ensure there isnt stray pollen around.......like cbf stated, in about 12hrs..remove bag and spray pregu branch...to ensure any room polenation.....then u should have seed...........hope this help's..........pleased to hear your first project w/be with htc gear........respect brother sub.........MOneY

1 thing they dont mention is that it takes about 6 to 8 weeks for the seeds to fully mature so you might want to hit them with pollen a lil earlier in the flowerin stage

Considering how uniform the females are within the SIBL line I would have to think it be the same for the males.

Have a look at these two males. Every HTC Skunk IBL male I have observed, has this structure. Kinda lanky, but very vigorous. Pretty much everything I talked to you about in PM, has been said here. Minor differences, but basically the same. Hope to see your cross do well for ya!
