Skunk special - Some minor problems - Female Seeds - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Hi guys, good to know that some guys from the femaleseeds team are about.

Im having some problems with your skunk special strain. Boy are these girls magnesium hungry. Im using full strength advanced hydro of holland 3 part nutes in RO water, pH 5.5, res temp 18C and I am still having to add 1 tablespoon per gallon of epsom salts into my res to stave off Mg def. Is this something you have noticed as well?

Also out of the 3 seeds I germinated 2 of them have shown the single male preflower on the lowest flowering internode. These 2 plants don't seem to be thriving as well as the other one which is already double the size (1 1/2 feet for the biggest). Is this what the 75% stability is about? Are the one that show the male preflower the unstable 25%?

Looking forward to them finsihing though, I have about 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 weeks left and the biggest is looking as it could yeild quite abit.

The Skunk Special is a quite hungry strain not only nutes, it likes a lot of light too.
mayby you can higher the temp of your res
With stability we mean the variation between the plants, so it has nothing to do with male/female ratios. Somehow you have an unusual lot of male preflowers, castrate them and see how they develop.

In this current run I have nlxbb and special skunk running side by side using the Pure Blend Pro line and can say yes the specials skunks do start off slow,but I assure you they will be there when you call roll in the end. A Great plant it is it is.

Cheers guys, thanks for getting back so quickly. So im not going mental, these girlies are hungry esp for the Mg.

Ive been advised in this situation to go with 1 teaspoon of epsom salts/gallon in res/foot of plant growth. Do you guys think this is ok? Im a little worried about locking other nutes out through adding too much mg and raising the ppm in my res too much. I am using RO water though so I maybe don't have to be as concerned as I would have to be if I was using tap water.

On the male flower side, there only seems to have been 1 at the bottom and the rest of the preflowers are female so Im not too worried, although I will be keeping a close eye on them.

Mrwags - yeah they do seem a bit slow esp in Veg, they only really started to grow when they were put under 12/12 and they have at least doubled in size in 2 weeks . Im growing armageddon as well and these are already bigger than my 2 smallest SS after only 3 weeks of veg. Although the armagedoon is nowhere near as bushy.

Mauiwowie- We advice you to take another brand of nutrients, a good brand of nutients,(used at the right temp, EC and PH) should give complete feeding to your plants.

Mauiwowie as you can see the Special Skunks love pure blend pro with a little Cal-Mag. Hope you get a handle for the next grow. Good Seeds With Good Nutes= Great Buds

Im using really good nutes now. Advanced hydroponics of holland 3 part nutes so I don't think thats a problem as all I have ever heard about them is good.

I was using the nutriculture ones that came with my hydro res and I think these are perhaps the reason for my problems, they just don't have enough mg.

Im getting there though, flushed for a couple of days and then gave them nutes again. They seem to have levelled out a bit. They all seem a lot greener and growth at the bud sites is a nice lime green, so i think they are starting to grow quickly again.

Very nice pics Mr wags. Im hoping my biggest will turn out somethinglike that. Im only day 21 of 12/12 so another 30-35 or so days left for me.

Don't get to close like my dumbass did but good rotation makes them go Freakin crazy.
