Mossys Jem...Like it! Growing It Again.

Hey Mossy & Kenzler! (and everyone else I'm yet to meet)

I've found information on Mossys Jem to be hard to find on other websites so decided to come straight to the source.

My growing partner started some Mossys Jem earlier in the season (the UK season is over now) while I was overseas. He's a fairly new grower when it comes to autos and he accepts that his regular techniques didn't bring them to full potential.

His records show that germination rates were very good as was the male/female ratio with only one male showing up. That male, unfortunately also showed some pistils so instead of creating more seed for me to try, the ladyboy was tossed, the plants left unpollenated, were chopped some time ago and have been curing ever since.

I bought some seeds a few months back but haven't gotten around to starting them until now.

The initial tester-smoke left us less than exstatic but an OBVIOUS improvement has been observed every week since the start of curing...now it is an absolute joy to bust up into a reefer!

So yeah, just wanted to say a big thank you to Mossy for creating something so enjoyable and I hope that I do them justice this time. I'm only just starting to read up on them and the pictures I've seen look like just like what my friend grew...only bigger and better!

What I'll do is post pics here as they develop as well as any questions and notes.

On a different note, I've not got enough posts under my belt yet to access PM's so the people that have already sent me PM's will have to wait a while, sorry about that but I don't make the rules.

So in the meantime, thanks again to Mossy, great stuff and I'm gonna go read up on it some more.

Welcome Ch@ppers and Cheers.

It means a lot coming from a Fellow AF Fiend.

"& Kenzler!"

kenz not around m8.
(I will mail you with catch up when your posts are up)
He is still quite ill.

but the WR I am using is his creation.

"germination rates were very good as was the male/female ratio with only one male showing up"

I hit bad male ratio early in the season on a couple of them.
I added a touch of guano to the bottom third of the germing pot to try to give them a pre-sex boost..

I stopped it and the balance returned to the normal fem dom ratio.

"That male, unfortunately also showed some pistils so instead of creating more seed for me to try, the ladyboy was tossed"

Damn..sorry m8 to rob you of a cross..
pipeline is the only other one I know got a pistilate male.

I Want a one....to try an obscure cross.

Heavy homework and plotting says the JEM Colours come from columbian gold/oxacana and they are both known for their slight hermie tendancies.

What were the light levels..?

"I'm only just starting to read up on them"

Multi-pot growing has been a great success this season..
not the most yield plant per plant..
but impressive yield over a season per pot.

Germ-sex-re-germ has been brilliant to..both in the AF grow thread.

Looking forward to seeing some of those beautiful girls you produce.

(A quick word on "backward" hermaphrodites – declared males that eventually sport female flowers – as opposed to the usual female-to-male hermaphrodites. These are semi-rare occurrences, usually sterile but sometimes viable, that I have found at times to be valuable in their genetic contributions. Some of the most resinous and desirable males I have encountered exhibited this trait. This trait almost seems to guarantee against unwanted hermaphroditism in subsequent generations as it also increases the female to male ratio in its progeny.)
That is why I was chasing one...
