Chuck D Test Grow

Aloha and welcome to Greyskull's Chuck D Test Grow

I am very excited to have been sent this strain to test. The test pack contained 10 magic beans. Here's the official strain information:

We have used the original Sour Diesel clone in producing this hybrid seed with our highly select Deep Chunk indicas. The mother Sour Diesel was named High Times plant of the year in 2005, and she is truly some of the finest, dankest weed going. Serious smell control is recommended, but well worth the effort. She has a soaring up high with a surreal headspace, which is extremely satisfying. We are pleased to offer you this excellent Sour Diesel hybrid, as we are sure she will set the standard for Sour Diesel seedlines to aspire to. Yield is average (250-350 g/sq m)
Indoor flowering period: 9-10 weeks
The mother Sour Diesel plant was named High Times plant of the year 2005... are you kidding me??? THAT'S SOME CRAZY FUCKIN PEDIGREE!
Like I said... I am pretty excited about receiving these beans
TESTER SEED PACK

The beans started their soak 10.06.08. From the looks of everyone else's starts, I am expecting a pretty fast germination. Once they come out of the water they'll be going into 1.5" rockwool cubes to sprout under a pair of 24" 20w fluoro's. Then they'll be tranplanted into coco. Their time in veg will be under 400mh; 1000hps in flower. The plants will be fed a mix of Botanicare & Canna products, via ebb n flow. Here's the grow schedule they'll be following:

I have no idea what to expect. We're just gonna have to wait and see what happens.... maybe I'll have CO2 added by the time we get to flower...

Stay tuned....

Big mahalo to Cannacopia & DG for the opportunity to be a test grower

Wow. Less than 24hrs (more like 15hrs) and the beans have dropped to the bottom of the glass and cracked... time to get the cubes ready. WOW that was fast!

Aloha krizznapp. You are right on about Cannacopia. Thakns for dropping in!

A few sprouts have broken the surface (# 4 & #5), and the rest are following close behind... you can see them working their way up.

Aloha again... another update so soon. Hope I'm not boring anyone already.... watching seeds crack is totally different than watching grass grow IMO

Anyhoo, a couple have sprouted up and have begun their ascent, while the rest are about to break the surface of the rockwool cubes. So I decided to plant the cubes into 16oz cups of coco this evening to let the seedlings get a nice roomy start to life. I fed them light dose (600ppm) of PBP, ThriveAlive (B1), and Roots Excellurator @ ph 5.8 and now will leave them be for a few days to watch what happens.

10 little seedlings sitting in a tray

I also was doing some research on Deep Chunk crosses and came across this fine thread: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=63848 . All kinds of great info there.

Stay safe.

Seedling update
So the beans have been 5 days in the cubes under the coco. So far 6/10 have broken the surface and are reaching for the sky. The other 4... I think they may just be a little behind but I am not worried.

BTW this is my first seed grow in 12 mos (and that was my first attempt).... I've been living the cloning life la vida loca so this is all pretty new to me. Glad I have some sprouts up and about for sure... I have no semblance of a green thumb so for these to be alive at this point to me is a miracle! Lets keep it rolling though, yeah?

Here's a shot of the tray o' cups

and the individual sprouters

I am gonna give them another few days/week under the fluoros before they can play under the 400w sun. Things are looking up & up from here.

Stay tuned!

sounds like another wicked cross. So many strains, so little space and time eh... Good luck with them.
