LED's, Scott's OG, and a Home-Bred Hybrid... Oh my!!

Hello all here at ICMag! This will be my first diary here; however, I'll spare you the pleasantries, and jump right into it.

The strains:
3x Feminized Big Gorilla (Big Diesel by Gunjah x GG4 ... I used the colloidal silver method to collect some fem'd pollen from the Big Diesel girl grown from seed and bred it to a GG#4 cutting).

1x Scott's OG by Rare Dankness

Training:
Various forms, though all plants were moderately defoliated.

The lights:
2x Viparspectra R900 led panels.

The soil:
B&G Organics raised bed & potting mix amended with perlite, blood & bone meal, bat guano, and kelp & alfalfa meal in 7 gallon pots.

Additional nutrients:
None

Water:
Just good old tap water through a DIY drip system.

From seed to now:
The grow started a little rocky. It was orignially 2x Big Gorilla, 1x Scott's OG, and some random bag seed, however the random seed turned out to be male. Luckily though, I had stared another BG girl just in case one of them turned out to be male. The Scott's OG was able to veg for about 8-ish weeks, while the the BG girls got about 6 to 7 weeks.

The Scott's OG was manifolded, but poorly trained due to being in the back of the closet, one of the BG's also was manifolded, but was started too soon and stunted the growth of the plant a bit, the youngest plant was topped, supercropped & LST'd, and the other has a four-way top cut at the 3rd node.

They've just entered their 5th week of flower and are doing great! It's looking like the youngest BG and Scott's OG are going to finish sooner than the other two.

I know what you're all really here for is the cannabis peep show... lol... I'll be posting some pictures soon, so stay tuned! ;)

Hey great plants! I grow Scotts OG as well here in Colorado. Not a HUGE yield compared to some other strains but it's good quality. Resin production is definitely there. I run the Scotts OG about 60 maybe 65 days tops. Do you plan on pruning the bottom suckers?

Keep us updated!

You say "full spectrum" COBS but your pictures have the Blurple tint to them.. Full Spectrum would be White light (containing all the colors of the visible spectrum) and not red/blue/purple. Do you mean Full Spectrum in the sense that you have individual LEDs for each spectrum of light? (ie red, blue, etc)?

Any discoloration is due to my terrible photographic skills. These lights are white light.

Here we are rounding out the 5th week of flower. I had to pull the smaller Big Gorilla girl out of the closet due to her feeling the need to start sprouting pollen sacs. So, I chopped the tops off of her and set her out on the dining room table to finish a bit more. Then I'll be turning the rest into bho or infused coconut oil. It was for the best though, now the other three girls can utilize the light better.

Other than that the other three girls are doing great!

That's awesome starke, I wouldn't mind trying my hand in building a custom COB array.

In response to to the question about pruning... Usually from here until harvest the only thing I'll remove from the plants are fan leaves covering bud sites. I don't mind a little larf/smalls, as they're good for the extracts pile.

sound really nice, pictures are great, i am in to led but to be honest any light that help bud production i am in to.

Its difficult to see the plant properly with the led light on, however, they look very happy. How long have you been using led lighting, in this area. Did you switch from hps to led?

I'll pull the girls out today and get some pictures for you without the LED's. They are indeed happy! :)

I started with CFL's for my first couple of grow cycles, then switched to MH/HPS for the next 6 years or so, and have been growing with LED's for about 1.5 to 2 years now.

Here are some pictures sans the LED's.

The first set of three are of the Big Gorilla sativa pheno and is looking like she's going to take a week or two longer to finish.

The second set are of the Scott's OG, here we can see how well she's taking to defoliation.

The third set of of the indica dom pheno of the Big Gorilla. She sure is starting to pack on weight.:watchplant:

Great you say you only used water? what did you put in your soil?
You must have optimised your soil really well. Looks like the plants wanted for nothing. Really really nice.

Truly humble thanks!

I used blood, bone, alfalfa, and keep meal along with bat guano in a cheap bulk organic soil. Sadly though I'm going to be giving these girls a serious flush at lights on tomorrow due to them showing some signs of N-toxicity. This happened with my last grow as well even though the plant vegged for close to 9 weeks. I'm guessing too much meal for the veg time.
