Weekly Update (Flower Day 21)

Weekly Update (Flower Day 21)

Weekly update time. The ladies continue to do well and the buds are coming on nicely. Need to do another lower defol but ran out of time yesterday before lights out. That will be a project for this coming week. It's looking like the stretch is about over so I think I'll have enough height for the light to stay out of bleaching trouble. Still feeding Maxibloom at about 800ppm/.5 scale and the ladies still seem happy. Have been keeping the ph between 5.8 and 6.0 as recommended and that seems to be working out perfectly as well.

Looks like another week gone by with no major fuck ups so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Weekly Update (Flower Day 28)

Weekly Update (Flower Day 28)

Today marks the end of week four in flower and the ladies still seem happy and healthy. I have backed the feed down to about 700ppm/.5 scale this past week and the ladies seem to be OK with it.

So far feeding every other day as per the original Hempy instructions is working out well, however, I am wondering if I should do some sort of plain water flush. I have not done so to this point since the ladies are not showing any signs indicative of salt buildup. I do feed to a slight runoff each time so perhaps this is keeping any buildup at bay. My personal philosophy is, "if it ain't broke - don't fix it", but I am open to suggestions.

The tent is quite crowded with six plants. Next run I will stick with only five.

I probably should have mentioned this 3+ months ago when I started this diary but just never thought about it: This is my first diary and really my first "official" grow. That being said, I am fully open to suggestions/constructive criticism regarding any aspect of the grow or how I am documenting it in this diary.

I was wondering if you are encountering any popcorn under the top buds , like not fully colored buds that seem a lighter than the tops? Or is the light intense enough to reach the lower sites with those big fans in the way ? IME so many tops clumped together like that produce a weaker undeveloped bud , even under my leds that can bleach the tops because of their intensity, need the help of an aggressive defol, hopefully yours look like the tops , either way looking forward to the hempys results , the growth is very impressive and with some training , they look like a winning combo , good luck,FSG.

I'm sure I'll have some popcorn even though I have done two defols on the lower growth. I will be separating some of the top buds with stakes and string if they require support down the road. Fortunately for me I am only growing for personal use for the misses and I and our adult kids so I don't have to worry about bag appeal. All the product, popcorn, shake, larf gets put to good use. If my customer base doesn't like the quality they can grow their own, or pay for it like they would have to if I were not growing.

Weekly Update (Flower Day 35)

Weekly Update (Flower Day 35)

Today marks the end of the fifth week of flower (10-12 week strains) and the ladies are doing well. Buds are stacking nicely but the pistils seem to be browning prematurely. I've scoped for bugs but it's not pests. Also checked for nanners but have not found any. I'm thinking it might be I have the circulation fan turned up to high or pointing too directly on the ladies. Going to change that and see if it makes any difference.

Lost one of the ladies after I lost my balance in the tent and fell on her. Broke the main stem entirely. Just about totaled the tent too - but got lucky. Tent was too crowded anyway, but nobody wants to lose good bud. Those buds are probably soon to become butter although I'm going to dry one and see if it's worth smoking at all, being only half way through flower.

Waiting for Hurricane Irma to run up my ass tomorrow and Monday. If it's like it was in 2004 I will be without power for a month or more. Service gets restored to larger population centers first and I live "in the country."

If it looks like I'm going to be without power for more than a week, I'm probably just going to have to harvest them for butter. That would really suck because they smell super funky and have great trich coverage for being only about halfway through flower.

Hopefully there will be further updates on this grow...but in case not here are some pics.

Man...beautiful canopy...sometimes one less, is more. I hope you fair well through Irma, it would be a shame to loose that effort..maybe finish them outside if it really goes to hell ?

Thanks caljim. If I had somewhere outside I could put them where the nosey neighbors could not possibly see them, I would try outside. But I don't...and I live in an illegal state. Still a thought that keeps crossing my mind though.

Finally got enough cell service back to check in. Still no power or internet. Temps running around 90 with heat index of 99. Humidity running around 85 percent. Chopped the ladies this morning and will try to dry them. With this heat and humidity I'll probably end up with mold and have to trash the lot. Did I remember to say: "FUCK HURRICANE IRMA", I can't remember?

Still have about 20 new clones that I hope will root. Also have four Super Lemon Haze clones at about ten inches tall for my next run but if the power is not back on soon they will begin to flower.

Anyway, all is good and shit could have definitely been way worse. Misses and I are for sure counting our blessings. I'd kill for a real shower though.

Will be back to document another grow when things get back to normal.

Peace,
starke

Hey...sounds like things could have been worse considering. Glad you and your wife made it through safely.

You can always turn those plants that may have started to flower around with some 24 hour light when you get power back. If you don't have a shower, hopefully you have some smoke to pass the time. :comfort:
