7 weeks of 12/12 for plant 1
I did't track the actual start of flower too closely, but it can't be more than 6 weeks
I've never had a plant mature this quick, thinking 8 weeks of actual flower at most
a few seeds down low but no more roosters other than the early ones that were on the trunk

It seems the roosters down low is a different thing to bananas throughout the flower.
I’ve heard ppl before advise you can pick off the lower roosters and have the rest of the flower up above seed free.
Good observations mate

so there are low down hermies? I thought all hermies were low down - lol
interesting, hadn't seen that in my readings
with #1 the roosters were early so they were low on the stem
#2 is different, small number of roosters but spread out over time
out further on the branches, but interestingly down low with little damage
#2 looks more like a true hermie, but its seeds tempt me with maybe the best smell I've ever smelled in cannabis

was thinking about cutting #1 today at 7 weeks of flower
she looked pretty ripe with all those dead fans
but a vape of a rooster tail and trichs that were too clear told the story, looks can be deceiving
and she's kept herself clean, rooster tails but no dirty roosters

was time for the happy check, you know when you're closing in at harvest
and what do I see? - mold - SH!T!
in the end was mostly salvaged, small loss but did have to harvest at 7 1/2 weeks
the stalks of those dead fans were the culprit, it was a mistake to not cut them off
normally I wait until they pull off easily, these wouldn't for some reason
now to quality, better than I hoped and might be a discovery with daylight LEDs
I had been snipping rooster tails from the top, thinking it was ripest/best
turns out it wasn't, tried some tiny popcorn from the bottom and it was better than the top!
there are some quirks to LEDs, too close may overwhelm some things
this ain't over, revegging, if it's this good at 7 1/2 it will damn well be better at 9

a knock on the grow room door
who's there I say
the mold monster, and I demand a sacrifice!
so I've lost some of plant 2, but hoping the monster will be content with what's he got
even with the surgery still looking good

time for a cut and a thought
took down plant 2 today at 9 weeks, was looking pretty ripe
mold monster was defeated, got lucky there
plant 2 is a fine indica, fine nose and taste, and excellent effect
however, the roosters persisted through the grow
numbers of roosters was small, but they were potent
so #2, you were a she-male even if the seed count wasn't as bad as my other experiences
#1 was much less of a male, hell of a difference
rechecked my grow stats, it was 4 not 9 pure femmes
I'm going to label #1 as 1/2 hermie giving me 4.5 female out of 6
not bad considering the seed source was 'pure' hermie

and I left off with a reveg of plant #1
a pretty decent sativa dominant hybrid that had to get cut because of mold moving in
it was good when I cut, but another week or so could have sweetened it more
and a reveg fail, first time I've had a reveg fail
what can you do? pop another seed and dream of what might have been

well, a rough start but looks like recovering
I believe that my watering had made a small rootball
corrected with a light feeding and proper watering, and time to flower!
this will be #7 of the nl#5 x brainwreck set
1st 4 were clean femmes, the next 2 turned out to be herms
lighter herms than the original BW and its seeds
so lucky #7? I'll get back to you on that

and back in the game, a plant in flower and some new strange
my previous two plants showed whorled phylotaxy
I had jump started sprouting with a bit of peroxide
seemed like quite a coincidence that the first time I've seen whorled plants
now take a look at this lovely, pretty sativa-ish me thinks
and look at the fans in the lower left, see that extra small pair pointing backwards?
they're on all the upper fans, just small to see
this too is something I've never seen

23 days of 12/12, this was definitely slow on showing the goods
before my last 2 sneakier herms, I would have had no problem pronouncing pure femme
so a guarded 'looking clean' is the claim
but she's looking big and sweet, skunky veg nose but changing

the good, the bad and the ugly
time to update my latest experiment from the (nl#5 x bw) -> hermie s1 seeds
ugly - see the pic, not the prettiest grow
bad - messed up on watering, biggest damn plant I've had in grow chamber, under watered and a major wilt event
good - it has recovered ok, and no roosters, smell is very sweet now
plant was stressed, rock solid stable so far
which is consistent with these genetics, hermie out of the gate or very stable

at 11 weeks of 12/12, some observations and thoughts

observations
looking good for a plant that was screwed over with bad watering, c'est la vie
totally clean of nefarious roosters, and it was stressed, stability is solid
5 of 7 stable from this seed set, some thoughts on that below
2 things stand out, its height and nose
tallest plant I've grown, 42 inches, there's some sativa in there all right
nose - loudest smell I've grown, real loud
odor? bubblegum, have to see what harvest/cure produces for final call
thinking 12 weeks will be cut time

thoughts
I was talking pretty bold how this seed set was totally non hermie
I got schooled a bit here, so here's some new thoughts
5/7 is ok and maybe reflects some stability increase, maybe not too since 5/7 is small numbers
could get closer to the original 50/50 I was seeing with original S1s with more grows
but the 2 herms were definitely of a changed character
time to step further into the heart of darkness, those S2s beckon, winter is cramping the style some

and the time to cut, not bad but challenging
she drank heavily, it was warm and that messed her up with some wilt
and some branches got bent/snapped which reduced yield
so looks(and smells) mighty sweet, 11 weeks of 12/12
totally rooster free, reveg started, might want to hang on to this one

time for some sharing of info, this was a different experience for me
I had mentioned there was some bubblegum-ish odor, very sweet smell
into the vape, fresh, wet, and green, that's what vapes can do so well
the taste was probably 5x the smell, that's a new thing for me
and the taste was bazooka joe bubblegum, actually more bazooka joe than the gum!
so I'm feeling mighty good, effect kind of felt like the taste
next time it tasted real good, maybe not as thick as first vaping
and the next vape a little less, my imagination?
not imagination, drying/curing and the taste is much less bubblegum
it's still very good, it's changing to a milder flavor
this hobby has many twists and turns
