Hello! Welcome to the outdoor strainguide, which I hope can become a valuable resource for new and experienced growers on I.C.
But for it to work I need your help! I need reports from outdoor growers, the more detailed the better.

Here is the basic format, and a example filled in:

Strain/Breeder: Afghan, Nirvana
Harvest time: Oct 1-15
Latitude of grow: 49 Degrees
Location: Central Ontario, Canada(Optional)
Average yield: 45 grams(or 1.5 Ounces)
Mold?: Some mold
Potency:Good indica stone
Year of grow 2004
Also a description of how the plant was grown, fertilizers used, bud taste, quality and type of stone, any problems noticed, what determined your harvest time, etc.
A pic or two would be good if available, but please make them on the small side if you can, super large pics take up too much room in the guide and won't be included, sorry.

Also, if you have a grow diary featuring the strains you are reporting, feel free to leave a link.

As members contribute reports, I'll repost them to the top of the page, come on people, lets get rolling!

Here is a empty report format to copy and paste:

Strain/Breeder:
Harvest time:
Latitude of grow:
Location:
Average yield:
Mold?:
Potency:
Year of grow:

Feel free to post personal strains and medical clones, but only commercially available strains will be included in the guide.

One thing I will ask is don't post your report here until it is complete as you would like it posted in the main guide, I won't repost reports that are listed as incomplete, and because of this there may be many reports I'll forget to check back on.

Also, please write your dates with the month written as a word, Americans write dates with the month first, day second, year third, while Europeans write their dates with the day first, and month second. A finishing date like 9-10-07 may have me wondering if the finish was Sept 10th or Oct 9th.

If you know your USDA hardiness zone, please post it!

After nearly 3 years in existance.............
the outdoor strainguide has documented the grows of many strains from many growers. It has occurred to me that some strains really stand out, I thought it might be nice to make a short list of strains that have received good marks from several growers in this guide. Sadly some of these strains are not available at the time of this posting.

Good bets for harsh short season Northern or high altitude climates
Haley’s Comet, Flying Dutchman
MDZ Sour 60, Mdanzig

Mid-September finish
Easy Sativa, FemaleseedsGreat mold resistance, decent high for a early finisher

Late September finish
Maroc/Female seeds(some reported mold problems though)
Mandala #1, Mandala seeds

October finish
Aurora Indica, Nirvana Very good potency
Afghan, Nirvana Good marks for a classic Indica strain
Sensi Star, Paradise Seeds Good rep for potency -Winner of the High Life Cup 1999!
C99, GN03 collection Good reputation for mold resistance and strong up high
White Rhino, Nirvana Good rep for potency
White Widow, Dutch passion seeds & Greenhouse seeds Classic strain with great rep for potency

*All of the October finishers listed here(except the C99) do have increased potential for molding in bad(wet) climates*

July/August harvest, and/or Autoflowering/photo sensitive

Strain/Breeder: Brenda's skunkx NL, East Island seeds
Harvest time: July 19th/ Sept 3
Latitude of grow: 38
Location: Appalachia
Average yield: 3.5oz on the auto and 8 on the later
Mold?: none
Potency: I was impressed- 8
Year of grow 2oo7
Growers notes: The autoflower, there were 2 females, finished really early. there were also 2 non autos which yielded pretty good. Good taste, minty. My first autoflowerer and I recommend it . I'm working the autoflower male of this strain.
Contributed by silverback

Strain/Breeder: Dutch treat x Hash plant, East island seeds
Harvest time: July 26
Latitude of grow: 38
Location: Appalachia
Average yield: 6 oz good
Mold?: Mine didn't but I believe that it will.
Potency:7
Year of grow 2007
Growers notes: thanx to the starving deer, I was only able to finish this one autoflowerer pheno. I don't know what the non pheno would do. I feel it could get mold due to the construction of the buds. Very branchy. good vigor. This was the second auto i tried last year. It wasn't as good as the BSNL but still wasn't bad. It was worth the 50 bucks

Strain/Breeder:Early wonder skunk, Solar warrior seed co. (not around now I was told)
Harvest: Late august till oct. depending on when put in ground
Latitude of grow: 45N
Yield: from seed 4-6 oz from clone 3-4 oz
Potency: is high !
Smell is somewhere between a skunk and really bad breath ! for real
This has become my fav outdoor strain. It does fairly well indoors as well. The name is deceiving as there is no skunk in it. There is ruderalus bred in there so about 75 % auto flower at about 18". Hard to clone because of this but the cuts catch up quick in flowering. I cannot find any more of these beans and would love some more so if anyone has info Please help me out! This is my only picture I have loaded. its all one plant from clone in 2006.

Strain/Breeder:Maroc, Female Seeds
Harvest time: End August
Latitude of grow: 46N
Average yield: 2-5 OZ
Mold?: Very little due to early harvest.
Potency: Very Strong and Very Resinous
Year of grow: 2006
Fastest plant I've ever seen, has well developed buds by early July. Starting indoors is a must if you want big plants as they naturally have a very short Veg time. They do not react the best to Top/Fim as its a Main stem plant.

Strain/Breeder: Maroc, Female Seeds
Harvest time: Late August
Latitude of grow: 41N
Location: NE
Average yield: 2-5 oz's
Mold?: None, due to early harvest
Potency:Earthy stone, somewhat strong/subtle
Year of grow 2007
Grower notes: Very Good Beginner Strain to grow. Started from seed outdoors. FF Grow Big used during veg. Plants grew from 3'-5'..Medium Yield..
The Low Down: Not the best tasting pot. Gets you high. Gets the Job done.

Strain/Breeder: Nigerian Nightmare, Reeferman seeds
Harvest time: almost autoflowering/ end aug/early sept
Latitude of grow:44N
Location:northern midwest usa
Average yield:2-3 oz's per plant
Mold?: alot of bud rot/ mold...budded when it was hot and humid
Potency:6-7/10
Year of grow:06
Notes: Nigerian nightmare starts to flower shortly after you put it out, very photosensitive...my yields were probably small due to the fact i put a bunch of small clones off mothers around mid June and they started flowering about 2 weeks later. bud clustering was strange, it grew buds on top of buds. smell and taste is very old school...skunky/grassy herb...best way i can describe it. she got some real nice purple and violet colors and they weren't due to cold temps since it was flowering in late June through august.

Strain/Breeder: Nigerian Nightmare ,Reeferman Seeds
Harvest time: July 1st (shocked into flower)
Latitude of grow: 36 N
Location: Temperate mountain region
Average yield: I only had one girl :(
Mold?: Very little, insignificant
Potency: 7/10
Year of grow: 2007
Growers Notes: The seeds were germed on March 1st and the lone female was put outside on May 1st (damn, am I regimented or what?). As advertised, this shocked the plant into flowering. She was pretty small and skinny, but she bulked up and grew quite a bit during flower. It wasn't placed in full sun, she got probably 6 or 7 hours of direct light and quite a few more of filtered light. When she was chopped, she probably had 10% amber trichs at the most. After a jar cure, she smells really sweet and fruity. If you smoke a little bit it's kind of a euphoric dizzying buzz that can impair your visual frame rate, if you know what I mean... smoke hard and it's pretty damn trippy. I like it. It's great for losing yourself in some good music :).

The effects of this herb are exactly as advertised. I think the high is one that almost anyone can appreciate. It's got a smart buzz that will fill your head with wonderful ideas :). I really can't think of anything bad to say about it. I like it better than Cinderella 99.

Strain/Breeder: Aurora Indica, Nirvana
Harvest time: Sept. 27
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: decent, 9-12oz
Mold?: Decent resistance but watch late, especially the headbud of the single cola pheno
Potency:10
Year of grow:2006
Outdoor Rating : 8+
Growers notes: In 06 i was having every problem imaginable, from deer to hail to drought and ended up having to replant many of my holes. A buddy I have known for years and uses mostly clones knew of my difficulties and dropped off a couple of clones he said were indicas. The grew well, branchy, bushy at 4' with a decent yield, no real problems at all with little care. I ended up that year with a decent harvest and spent my time smoking my old favorites. Sometime early in the next year, my wife said we had never tried the smoke we got from ______. I was feeling frisky and said lets do it. Ten minutes later, her and I both, many years of heavy smoking were lying on the bed dabbing our heads with a cool wet clothe.
As soon as I collected myself I called to see what the hell? My buddy was out of town and I left a coded message as to what I wanted. His wife called me that afternoon and said that he had called and wanted to give me a pack of the seeds that the clones came from. To my astonishment, she handed me a pack of Aurora Indica from nirvana. Recommended.

Strain/Breeder:Biddy Early, Magnus Genetics
Harvest time: 3rd wk in Sept.
Latitude of grow: 41 degrees
Location:NE USA
Average yield: medium
Mold?: slight
Potency:8.5 good 50/50 mix of head/body high. Too strong for daytime, good for movie viewing @ night. Not a couchlock, but strong.
Year of grow:'06
Grown organically, guerrilla style
Always surprised this hasn't been grown out more w/ it's pedigree.
These were F2's. Some obvious runts, and overall I wasn't impressed w/ growth/structure, in fact started up another strain for back up. The end result made up for all my doubts. Smoke was top notch. I got the orange pheno, real deal orange taste w/ slight skunkiness. Intoxicating smell and taste.

Strain/Breeder: California Orange, Nirvana
Phenotype: Mostly Indica
Harvest Time: Late September (Sept 22)
Latitude: 40N
Location: Midwest
Plant Size: 4 feet
Yield: 4 oz +
Mold: None
Potency: Medium-High (Heavy Indica Stone)
Grow Year: 2007
Grower notes: We planted them in the middle of June. She was a very hardy plant because she went through a good month without care and water. She survived through drought and heat conditions. I think she would of been a bit bigger but those conditions slowed growth. With plenty of water she would of exploded. I couldn't believe how healthy she was went I went and checked on her. I also loved the fast flowering time and fat colas she delivered, with barley and attention at all, she still ended up yielding a little over 4 oz of dried bud. I highly recommend Cali-O for outdoor beginners.

Harvest time: Sept. 20
Latitude of grow:38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: 8oz per
Mold?: none but I think it will
Potency:7
Year of grow:2005
Growers notes: This is a fairly good outdoor plant. Not too vigorous, I probably wouldn't guerrilla grow her. Otherwise, 2 phenos. one shorter and more indica with much more visible frost than the other, dark green, lanky pheno . Again, the taller, lankier pheno has afghani type buds which reduce its yield.

Location: Appalachia
Average yield: 4-6oz
Mold?: Grown it a few times / never seen any
Potency: 8 good indica stone with cure A 6 at chop
Year of grow 2005-2007
Growers notes: To me early girl is the ultimate stealth plant. Its one bud 4' tall, you can hide it easily. Its one of the earliest finishers ive grown but i don't believe this plant to be an auto. Hardy, but yield is never to big. With a good cure its really pretty potent.

Average yield: Under the right conditions, a pound. 11 0z for me
Mold?: no, good resistance
Potency:7.5 that improved with age
Year of grow:2005
Outdoor Rating 8+, a good outdoor strain.
Growers notes: I didn't have any problems at all with this strain. It is very good with the cold in the spring, my 1' babies weathered 3 HEAVY frost in a row with no impact. I didn't see much variation in the 2 females I ended up with. The branches arched up on one more so than the other, but both ended up at 7', good vigor, bug resistance and wind resistance. This plant had a good taste, sorta minty. Topped, this plant could be a good producer. Good plant if you like sativa.

Strain/Breeder: Grapefruit, Female Seeds
Harvest time: Middle of Sept.
Latitude of grow: 36
Location:N/A
Average yield: 5-8 oz
Mold?: yes, some
Potency: 7-8
Year of grow: 2006
Grower notes:I found grapefruit to be a relatively easy strain to grow. This strain responds very well to nutes and is not nute sensitive. There were a few different pheno's. All had the trademark grapefruit taste and smell. One pheno grew very large with beautiful heavy buds, most pheno's are of average size with acceptable yields. The taste was more fruity than the others. Succeptable to mold during the last stages of flowering due to bud density. Very nice up high. I will grow this one again.

Strain/Breeder: Great white shark, Greenhouse seeds
Harvest time: Sept. 30
Latitude of grow: 36
Location: Eastern US
Average yield: 12 oz
Mold?: no
Potency:8
Year of grow:2009
Growers notes: A decent outdoor plant with a good stone. It finishes early and has a good yield. Fruity smelling, vigorous, grows to around 8'. Mostly Christmas tree shaped pheno's but I had a couple of plants that were more branchy and finished a week earlier. This was an easy plant to grow and is an average performer. Its stem is strong and it stands up well.

Strain/Breeder: Hindu Kush, Sensi seeds
Harvest time: Sept. 30
Latitude of grow: 38
Location: app
Average yield: 7 oz / good but not a big plant
Mold?: nnone
Potency: 7 after 60 days - a 4 at chop
Year of grow 2007
Growers notes: I wasn't impressed with this plant. Dark green with big fat leaves, about 5' but not a lot of visible crystals. A week after chop we tried it and i just didn't get a buzz.

Edit: June o8/ I wanted to come back and reconsider my initial assessment of this plant. I set my jars of this strain aside and didn't touch them again until may, nearly 7 months later. The smoke at that point was much better, with a spicy/almost peppery taste. At this stage of cure, I would assess the potency of the plant at 7+. My final assessment would be this. The plant is strong, stocky, healthy and grows easily without any issues. This would probably ge a very good plant for breeding purposes, but for the grower buying 10 seeds hoping for a quick crop of good smoke, this ain't the place.

Latitude of grow: 46 N
Location: SE Europe
Growing type: Guerrilla, 6h direct sunlight
Average yield: medium-low
Potency: 5, weak
Mold?: no
Year of grow: 2006
Growers notes: Very leafy, airy buds. Boring high, bad taste. Some metallic fruity smell, almost identical as Trance and relatively similar to Shaman, those are some boring outdoor strains with lack of potency.

Strain/Breeder: ICE, Female seeds
Harvest time: Pheno 1- Sept 21/ pheno 2-Oct 3
Latitude of grow:38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: Pheno 1 yielded well, untopped 7'-10oz/ pheno 2 yielded less-8
Mold?: none
Potency: 8
Year of grow:2007
Outdoor Rating: 8
Growers notes: I found this strain to be quite vigourous and well suited to the outdoors, no real problems at all. 2 pheno.s, No.1, the better yielder was a really nice plant, good yield and the smoke potent, a good solid 8 and frankly for the price, impressive. The second pheno hac vigor but was stalkier with a lower yield and more afghai looking buds than pheno1. Pheno 2 was just as potent just less attractive due to lower yield and longer finish. There were no males, hermies, male flowers or seeds that i could find in the 5 i grew. 100% germination of 5 seeds and all five survived to harvest grown gorilla. No real care. For the money, this is a decent outdoor strain. I wish I had some seeds from Pheno 1. A good buy.

Average yield: 4-6 oz's per plant
Mold?: super mold resistant
Potency: average/above average
Year of grow:05 and 06
Notes:Kodiak gold is a super mold resistant strain, i've grown it 2 seasons in a row in terrible late season conditions and no traces of mold. after a few cold nights her purpling comes in full force....the potency won't blow you away but it is a great medical/pain relief buzz with a great creeper effect...the buzz is also long lasting. the smell is earthy/tangy/floral, the taste is pretty much exactly what it smells like. grown all organic in the ground.

It looks like old school quality homegrown ganja, good bag appeal. High is mixed body/head. firstly energetic and mind activating with relatively strong bodystone in background that prevails towards the end of the ride. somehow relaxing social buzz, long lasting.

Strain/Breeder: Maple leaf Indica, Sensi seeds
Harvest time: Sept. 30
Latitude of grow:38
Location: app
Average yield:6-8oz per plant
Mold?: never
Potency:a good solid 8
Year of grow 2002 (and until my final days)
Growers notes: I love affies and searched and searched for that special one similar to the afghai hash that i got years ago and then i found this girl. I am one who is lucky enough to have found my holy grail. Warm, sweet, syrupy, narcotic euphoria, it starts with a warmth and a smile and ends with sweet dreams. Ive grown so many strains and each year i end up just happy to have the ML. She just doesn't have an affie equal in my view. 100% affie and even though sensi says it is an f1, it is the offspring of 2 closely related afghani strains, you cant tell an f2 group from an f1 group.
Its misinformation by sensi to assert that this is an indoor strain only. It performs great outdoors in my environment. I don't think you can place this strain in a condition that will result in mold. 2 years ago, we had 19 " of rain from Sept 15- Oct. 15. I left one plant out during that period just to see and on 10/16, not a spec. Doesn't need much fertilizer, and does well in drought. I just cant say enough good about this strain.

Strain/Breeder: Maroc, Female seeds
Harvest time: Last week of September
Latitude of grow: 54 Degrees North
Location: East Midlands, England
Average yield: Low, 101 dried grams from 3.5 plants (.5 of a plant was lost to mold)
Mold?: Yes
Potency: 8.5/10
Year of grow 2007
Grower notes: Planted outdoors in May.....
When dried the buds are small with brown hairs as shown. Smell from the curing jar is citrussy with a hint of lemon but when ground the smell is a lot stronger with hints of eucalyptus and menthol so much so you have to have a few sniffs to workout what the smells remind you of, really nice old school smell.
The smoke is great, very hashy on the intake and out that leaves a lingering taste of the aforementioned on the tongue. The high is a quality high with a 60% head high which gradually soothes in to a 40% body stone and is very very more-ish. This strain is one for your personal stash! I'm growing this again next year even though I did lose 50% of a plant to mold.

Repeat grow? Nope
high: very nice, quite energetic, to morning coffee
Growers notes: Very uniform strain, no differences between 2 plants. very easy to grow, one of the easiest plants I've ever grown. No trimming needed, because leaves fell down from plant when it was finished. Only thing that dissapointed me was quite low potency, everything else was just fine.

Strain/Breeder:Mendocino Madness, THSeeds
Harvest time: Sept 17
Latitude of grow: 36N
Location:Southwest US. High desert, 8000 feet altitude.
Average yield: 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound per plant
Mold?: read below
Potency:eek:n a scale of 1-10..she is an 8
Year of grow:2006
Notes:I received a very small amount of mold on my MM. I was confused, because my climate is quite dry..I can understand though, harvest week was wet and cold, even snowed. I removed a golf ball size chunk off one plant, and smaller piece off of another..Like a 1/16 of an ounce, out of a couple pounds. I dont think mold is a huge prob with this strain..... The quality was top notch,Had a very medicinal stone..Very deep. Couchlock sets in hard. The taste is like fresh cinnamon rolls, or pancakes....I grew it indoors in 2005..The outdoor version is waaaaaaay better(See original post for more comment).

Latitude of grow: 44N Degrees
Location: Midwest
Average yield: 6- 8 Ounces
Mold?: very little
Potency:Good Daytime stone 8/10
Year of grow 2007
Grower notes: Clones taken off of mother plants, vegged under 20 hours of sunlight. Thought they would flower immediately when place outside, but they grew and started to flower around the second week of July. Some plants were very large, and responded well to super cropping. Harvested early Sept. thru mid Oct.- diff mainly seems to be yield. Low odor. Will definitely grow again next year. A good daytime stone, but if you toke a little too much- it will sit you in your chair.

Average yield: good 8-140z per plant
Mold?: little bit
Potency:9
Year of grow:2004/05
Outdoor Rating: 8
Growers notes: Ive been trying to get peak seeds to bring this strain back for 2 years - they keep promising. The reason is that it is the earliest flowering, best yielding, most potent plant Ive grown that finishes so early.
These plants started flowering early in the 3rd week of July and mid Sept. Done!! I had 2 phenos, one lime green and very dense with close branching. If I were growing it again I would cull this pheno out doors because it is so dense and so likely to mold. The second pheno is a bit taller, has serious purpling and finishes a few days earlier than the other pheno. Yields a bit less but resist mold more. This is a good strain

Growers notes: This plant was very potent and had a sweet pinapple taste. It was also one of the few strains I've grown that is almost as potent when you cut it as it is 3 months later. I seemed to have two phenos in the 3 females i harvested. One was branchy with a head bud and the other was slimmer with a head bud. It didn't express the kind of vigor i like to see and i can only guess that the Deep chunk is dragging down the C99 because I understand c99 to be vigorous. This strain was good and potent with a disabling buzz - the name fits. Caterpillars wouldn't leave here alone. 2 girls 4' tall and one 6'.

Latitude of grow: 36N
Location:High desert, Southwest United States
Average yield: Half Pound Per 3'x3' plant
Mold?: none
Potency:5 out of 10
Year of grow:2007
Growers notes: Sweet purple is a nice early strain. She didn't end up getting very purple at all, despite being left out for a few mild frosts..just a hint of purple in the calyxes, none on the leaves. She is notably vigorous, and has thin leaves with very rough serrations. Sweet Purple is defiantly an "early harvest strain" with a uplifting motivational high..I use it as my morning bud..keeps me clear, jumpstarts my appetite, and loosens my muscles without the couchlock effects..Past morning, the stuff is pretty much useless, unless yer gonna load a bunch of hash or scuff on top. She just doesn't have the ass kicking potency that some will want..Great flavor though, and very earthy tones to the smell. I will grow the SP again..

Planted near a pond in full sun. These plants were clones of a few mother plants that were put out much earlier in the year (they were immediately consumed by deer). The clones were put out in early to mid July, and ended about 3- 4' in height. Handled a few nights down to 25F or so without flinching! Had a purple pheno that smoked very well, and usually I am not a fan of the purples!!

Potency:a good 8, for the money, excellent
Year of grow:2006
Outdoor Rating: 8
Growers notes: I popped 6 seeds and ended up harvesting 2 females. Deer and sex discrimination did the rest in. Both were identical, short, branchy, decent vigor and resistance to most perils. Its a decent outdoor plant with a little attention.
This was the first nirvana strain I ever grew and it was for the most part a satisfying experience. The stone was good and typical afghani. I like affies and this one is really pretty good. Good bargain and a good affie strain .

Growers notes:I had 2 phenos with this strain, one tall, branchy, lanky plant that finished late and had typical affie buds, bunchy and knobby. Not a good yield and not really that potent. The other plant was shorter with a headbud that finished earlier but the potency wasn't any better. It didn't really yield well either. I like affies but i wont grow this one again.

Location:app
Average yield: so so. 6 oz

Potency:8.5
Year of grow:2003
Outdoor Rating: 5, touchy in my enviro
Growers notes: I vegged these plants for 45 days before setting them out so I feel they were probably a little bigger than avg. Finished out as a single cola dominate plants at 7'. Not good vigor for gorilla and the bugs hurt her. Caterpillars, grasshoppers and leaf cutters like her. Good sativa leaning high for those who enjoy that. She might be a one hitter indoors but not for the wild and willy from my view.

Latitude of grow: 46 N
Location: SE Europe
Growing type: Guerrilla, full day sun
Average yield: Very good
Potency: 9.5, very strong body stone,
Mold?: little mold
Notes: very resinous plants with big hard buds,2 phenos with different smell, taste and dry yield:
1st: big bush- 300g, lemony sweet smell and taste
2nd: not so bushy- 200g, impressive main bud (30-40g dry), hashy taste and smell, heavy on lungs.
The seeds were germinated relatively late- in may. Plants were transplanted outside around June 10th. They all were untopped and all grew like crazy. On that bushy aurora some lower branches broke even before start of blooming, they were about 1,5m long... i had to tie them..

Harvest time: September 25.......Needs to go til first week of October.
Latitude of grow: 36N
Location: High desert, Southwest United States
Average yield: Half pound per 4'x4' bush.
Mold?: None..
Potency: See below.
Year of grow: 2007
Growers notes: Durga Matta, "The mother goddess"..This strain is rewarding in many ways. It has a very nice structure and potency. She takes to high nutrient levels very well. She stayed close to the ground( bushy) despite her slender leaf profile...The most notable thing I can say about the Durga Matta is the phenotypes,,,,while the plant structure is relatively similar between phenos, the potency and bud density is not.....I had two main phenotypes, one had loose , wispy nuggs with fair resin coverage. Not the best ..The second was phenomenal!....Outstanding resin coverage, very light lime greed color, dense buds, good bag apeal. The high is heavy and lasting, yet she is kinda lacking in flavor..Its hard to get tired of. Been smoking this pheno since harvest, still messes me up. Durga matta is defiantly worth a try...Paradise seeds seems to have some good stuff.

Strain/Breeder: Endless sky, Dr. Greenthumb
Harvest time: Oct 2
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: Heavy, can produce a pound
Mold?: good resistance, none
Potency:10 The most potent indica strain i am aware of
Year of grow:2004/06
Outdoor Rating: 10
Growers notes: This is the biggest single cola dominant strain i know of . Ive grown 4 females out and 3 were over 7'. Its a wonderful gorilla strain because of its shape. Usually a plant that will produce a pound of weed is a huge bush. This girl is slender. Mold resistance is astounding given the size of the buds. Bug and disease resistant and very good vigor. It tolerates drought fairly well, good strong wind resistant stem. It is one of the best gorilla indica plants i know of.
Endless sky is very good breeding. All the plants are similar and you can pop 3 seeds to get a female to clone from that is a very good representation of the strain. ES is without a doubt, the most potent indica dom plant i know of and. the stone on the plant is intense to the point of panic for a moderate smoker. Unequaled from my perspective.

Harvest time: end Sept. - early Oct.
Latitude of grow: 46N, full day sun
Location: Europe
Average yield: medium
Mold?: yes
Potency:8/10
Year of grow: 2007
Grower notes:The smell from dry bud is spicy-peppery........Type of high is a body and little of mind relaxation (not couch lock), long lasting........ mold appeared towards the end September, because of a long rainy period....... seems to be ripe around end of Sept or early oct, so it's suitable for colder climates or maybe for a corn field. It's a good quality bud with very pleasant high.

Strain/Breeder: Hollands Hope, Dutch Passion
Harvest time: Oct. 3
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:app
Average yield: heavy, 12-24 oz
Mold?: never, good resist
Potency:5 at chop. 8 at 90 days
Year of grow:2003//05/07
Outdoor rating: 8.5
Growers notes:I grow this strain every so often. Ive come to grow fems the last 2 grows and they were easy. I start fems outdoors and leave them outdoors and i never seem male flowers or hermies and I have never had either with this strain. The feminized seeds produce consistent plants that are huge under good conditions. The only drawback to this strain is the cure dependency. When first chopped she ain't much. A little age brings her on though and its just as the description says, a knock out. The buds turn purple late.

Average yield: Big plants(sativa) big yield 22-28 oz
Mold?: very good resistance
Potency:8.5
Year of grow 2001-present
Growers notes: This plant has been a staple for me for years. There are 2 main phen0's with this strain but i only grow the sativa or lime green pheno and cull the darker indica pheno. The indica pheno is potent and finishes up to 10 days earlier but i don't enjoy the dull lethargic effect from it. The sativa or lime green pheno is top notch. I suspect the reason you see breeders such as shanti and others use this strain is due to the vigor of the sativa pheno. You cant kill her. Ive grown gorilla for years and this plant is one of the few strains i know of that can be planted and left to its own defenses and return in September to find a 10' monster. Grade A outdoor.

October harvest strains

Strain/Breeder: Night Hail Ultra, Darwin Seeds
Harvest time: Oct. 15
Latitude of grow: 51N
Location: not listed
Average yield: nice about 50-80g a plant
Mold?: just a little
Potency: 8 strong indica high
Year of grow: 2008
Growers notes: I planted them in the forest spot in first days of May. After few months when they gain about 2,5 m high they started to flower I had 3 girls. All of them I chopped in middle of October.
Smoke after little curing is mild but very dense... very hashy... specially green pheno. It is nice indica plant. Her flowers can chill and make your thinking more philosophy hehe.

Harvest time: Oct. 7
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:app
Average yield: big/ 14 oz
Mold?: yes it will, both phenos late in flower
Potency:8.5
Year of grow:2005
Outdoor Rating:8.5
Grower notes:This is really a vigorous strain, especially the sativa pheno. The Plant can get big/ 10'- If it weren't for the real possibility of mold it would be an excellent gorilla plant. The female I grew out didn't have much smell or blueberry taste but it was potent and maintenance free up untill late in flower. The high for this pheno is actually quite energetic for a plant with so much indica in it.
I haven't grown out the shorter, NL pheno but i do know that it yields well, is potent and will mold quicker than the sat phen. It also finishes a week earlier.
I like Peak seeds, their service has always been very good, their strains relatively cheap and always pretty potent

Growers notes: I had 3 plants. 2 phenos. Anyway the only one that survived the fury of the nature is plant on the pic below. It was probably 1 in 200. Vigorous growth, no signs of pests, no yellowing, no mold, so no problem with this strain. Only problem was that it grows so huge and that it starts to flower at 1st September at my latitude, so it's not good guerrilla plant, hard to hide in late October as it's green and other plants are dying.

Strain/Breeder: Petrola Headstash, Reeferman Seeds
Harvest time: Oct. 2
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: 8oz
Mold?: yes
Potency:6
Year of grow:2005?
Outdoor Rating: 4
Growers notes: I paid far more for these seeds than they were worth to me because I just didn't have very good results. I dropped 6 seeds and got 4 pops and 1 female. I thought this was an IBL but I swear I had at least 2 distinct phenos with the 4 plants.
The one female grew fairly well although not much vigor. It reached about 4 feet with a headbud and longer lower branches and it just wasn't that potent. Nothing at all special.

Location:?
Mold?: No mold at all
Potency: 7 out of 10
Year of grow: 2007
20563PTK_3_b-thumb.jpg

Growers notes: Was very pleased with this line. Had a nice sweet indica smell...piney. Potency varied latest plant seemed most potent. Id give it a 7 out of 10 for potency. No mold at all harvest Oct 19th I think. Wasn't sure they would finish , but they turned right on on..is a fast flowering strain once it starts. Would certainly recommend it to any one who loves Indica's! The veg pheno changed to narrower leaves as the aged. However for about the first month or so they were incredibly wide leafed!

Strain/Breeder: Sadhu, Mandala seeds
Harvest time: Oct 10
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:Kentucky
Average yield: Heavy if coaxed
Mold?: Dense/ heavy buds. It will
Potency: low 8
Year of grow:08
Growers notes: Its my opinion that this plant is a decent plant indoors, a greenhouse or outdoors where it can be cared for, such as the backyard. I wouldn't recommend it for guerrilla at all. I believe it to be a poly as the vegetation seems to grow out of itself and outdoors this provides for bug infestations and other problems. The plant grows well but doesn't display the kind of hardiness needed for the middle of nowhere.

Strain/Breeder: Sensi Star, Paradise
Harvest time: Oct. 1
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: 10 oz
Mold?: You better watch her in my enviro especially the last 10 days . I usually have 1 application of greencure
Potency:9
Year of grow: Shes a regular since 2002.
Growers notes: This is my second favorite strain and 2nd only to Maple leaf. Shes more potent than the ML but for me, once you have a good solid 8, its all about affect. There are 2 primary phenos to the star but there are a couple more deep in the genes. I'm not picky about the pheno, the indica pheno finishes Sept 25 here and the sativa on oct2, the indica will mold easier and is hard to trim but will knock you onto the couch. Shes a party killer. The sativa pheno resist mold a little but don't misunderstand, with my humidity and dew she'll mold in the end. The greencure works well so I dose them about the 5th week just for safety's sake.
The plant has good vigor and if it weren't for her molding tendencies, I would grow her gorilla but now I grow her in locations where I can visit her bi weekly for a little tlc.

Strain/Breeder: Sensi Star, Paradise Seeds
Harvest time: Sept 25....needs til the first weeks of October
Latitude of grow: 36N
Location: High desert, Southwest United States
Average yield: Half pound per 4'x4' bush
Mold?: none
Potency:7 out of 10....Didn't get to smoke a finished product..
Year of grow:2007
Growers notes: Sensi Star has some of the largest leaves Ive ever seen. She had a very distinguishable leaf profile. Could pick her out of a crowd from 75feet. The buds were quite dense for not being ready. Flavor and bag appeal were lacking, but would have been much better if I had gotten to run her til Oct 12..I know the star has great potential, I just never got to see it. I would defiantly recommend growing it, just as long as you have the season for it.

Average yield: 6oz
Mold?: no
Potency:8
Year of grow: 2009
Growers notes: Not a good option for my outdoor. All 4 plants appeared the same. This wasn't the best outdoor plant for me. The stems are EXTREMELY brittle and break at the slightest breeze. I spent the entire summer watching nice branches just break and fall off. The average plant reached 6' and yielded about 6 ozs or so. Yield would have been much better per plant if the branches would stay on the plant. I had 1 plant that grew to 8 feet and by Oct. 1, the plant had 1 branch and the main bud left on it. Ive never grown plants like these. Vigorous isn't a word i would use to describe the plant. The plant might be ok for indoors, but I wont grow it again outdoors.

Grower notes: One of last varieties to flower in my garden, but ended up finishing quite fast. Seem to be quite mold resistant. All of this variety were small clones planted late (~July 4). Enjoyable stone, no couch lock. Sweet creamy, buttery, citrus taste (very nice!). A nice, late mold resistant strain!

Location: East Coast, US

Strain/Breeder: White Widow / Dutch Passion
Harvest time: Oct 2
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:app
Average yield: 5-6oz
Mold?: not really but it will, id watch it if conditions warrant
Potency:8.5
Year of grow:2003
Outdoor Rating: 7
Growers notes: This is a single cola dominate strain that grows to about 5'. It did fairly well outside but again, bugs will whoop her. While she grows reasonably well outdoors, shes not one I would gorilla grow with. In the back yard, across the field where you can tend to her a bit and shes OK. Above average potency but not much on taste. I popped 6 seeds and got 5 females and one runt.

Strain/Breeder: White Widow feminized, Greenhouse seeds
Harvest time: late October
Latitude of grow: 46 N
Location: Europe
Average yield: good, fat buds
Mold?: yes, at mid Oct
Potency: 9, excellent stone
Year of grow: 2008
Grow again: definitely maybe
Growers notes: All 5 plants sprouted and from beginning they looked a bit strange because of somehow "rough" leaves and they were unstable. After good month they became vigorous, normal established plants. It's ready to harvest from mid Oct on. In late stage some leaves became dark purple and it was sensitive to mold because of the density of the buds. Potency and taste is excellent, many trichomes out there...

Strain/Breeder: White widow,unknow breeder
Harvest time: Oct 10
Latitude of grow: 48n
Location: U.S.A
Average yield: 3 lb per plant in 3x3x2 hole in greenhouse
Mold?: slight mold from the shitty greenhouse
Potency: 10 at chop
Year of grow 2009
Growers notes: planted the preflowering clone in the greenhouse on may 20. it re-vegged, and exploded with growth. i packed the soil with organics, and used lots of teas. the grass in the bottom of the greenhouse cause mold and an early chop. this plant would have easily pulled 5 lbs.

Strain/Breeder: Zamal x Skunk Special, Female seeds
Harvest time: Oct.
Latitude of grow: Early 30s N
Location: Japan
Average yield: "decent"
Mold : not even a hint of it...zero!
Potency :6 or so?
Growers notes: takes a little while to settle down, I would say after 2 months cure potency would be 6 or so? hard to say. about 80% sativa cerebral effects and 20% energizing body effect...Grow again? Maybe not... I have others to explore.Carrot pheno, after curing the creeper effect seems to have reduced a little. smells like carrots. My plant went w/o watering or feeding for the last month or two.

Strain/Breeder: Northern Lights 5 x BigBud, Nirvana
Harvest time: 1st/2nd May(Early/mid Nov in Northern hemisphere)
Latitude of grow: 44 deg South
Location: Australia
Average yield: Impressive
Mold?: None
Potency: good sativa high, long duration
Year of grow: 2006 – 2007
I originally started her in a pot early Dec 06, then waited for her to show sex before I planted her straight into the ground rich in various ewc/composts/manures etc. I only ever fed her with organic brewed teas. This photo was from April 14. The last 2 weeks were chilly at night with scattered showers. She only received max 6 hrs direct sunlight/day. Strong lemon scent.

Strain/Breeder: Mikado/ Federation
Harvest time:Nov. 6
Latitude of grow: 38
Location:Appalachia
Average yield: Pretty good, 8-12 0z per plant
Mold?: no, good resistance
Potency:9
Year of grow:2007
Outdoor Rating: Depends on where you live, you decide
Growers notes: I had heard a great deal of clamor about mikado so I took the leap. This is a pretty strain, leaves are an aqua green( blue?) and because of that, it probably sticks out like a sore thumb from the air . I grow mostly from seed and this was no diff. I started with 12 seedling which resulted in 7 females, good ratio and the plants grew well with acceptable vigor. Every single plant looked identical with zero variation. The only differences were in. height, from 4.5' -7' . the plants had no problems with pests or disease. The plant is not as drought resistant as I like and responds poorly to low moisture.
I didn't see my first flower on any of the female until Sept. 11. This freaked me out because as the description stated that this plant was 80% indica to finish by Sept 30. Since I am at 38, I usually beat most Canadian and dutch finish times by a week or more. I expected to harvest this plant on Sept. 20. Even at Sept 11, if this was a 45 day strain i thought i was OK. First avg frost date for me is 10/14, and really I'm OK until the 25th or so. I chopped this strain on the 6th of Nov. because the weather forecast said this is it.
Conclusions: The only thing indica about the plants I grew was the stone, which was significant. Every other aspect of the plant screamed sative , with the exception of height. Long, thin leaves,(8"X1/2"!!), Ive seen Thai with fatter leaves. Long arching branches that filled in over time. The plant I grew was a 12 week flower. At first, I though I had been sent the wrong sees by the bank but in fact i had purchased 2 packs, one from HD in Canada and one from SB. You folks decide.

Harvest time: Nov 1st

Hardiness Zone: 4a
Location: Wisconsin
Average yield: 4 ounces+ per plant.
Mold?: no PM with Greencure, some bud rot.
Potency: 7.5
Year of grow: 2008
Growers notes: Planted as clones late May, fed with 42-4-4 (in veg), 15-30-15, and molasses. Clean taste with a "swimming" stone. Had to cut early due to weather, but if left until November to finish support will be needed for branches. Some bud rot occurred, but it was a very cold and wet fall.

I must say great idea on this Outdoor Strain Guide Backcountry will def be a help for the new growers trying to decide what to grow.

Strain/Breeder: Maroc by Female Seeds
Harvest time: End August
Latitude of grow: 46N
Average yield: 2-5 OZ
Mold?: Very little due to early harvest.
Potentcy: Very Stong and Very Resinous
Year of grow: 2006

Maroc Notes: Fastest plant ive ever seen, has well developed buds by early July. Starting indoors is a must if you want big plants as they naturally have a very short Veg time. They do not react the best to Top/Fim as its a Mainstem plant.

Strain/Breeder: ROX by Paradise Seeds
Harvest time: Late Sept
Latitude of grow: 46N
Average yield: 2-6 OZ
Mold?: Light for how compact the buds are
Potentcy: High potency Indica, Extreme Couchlock
Year of grow: 2006

Rox Notes: Was a good plant but due to my lack of growing experience I only had 3 out of 10 make it and only 2 were female. Some of the most dense buds ive seen outdoors.

Strain/Breeder: PowerPlant by Nirvana
Harvest time: Middle Sept
Latitude of grow: 46N
Average yield: Heavy Yielder
Mold?: Light Mold
Potentcy: Medium-High
Year of grow: 2006

PowerPlant Notes: Very good plant for a first time grower, cheap yet high quality buds. Very good bag appeal. Best if topped 3 - 4 times during veg. Uses alot of Ferts during flowering. Low leaf to Calyx ratio so trimming is a breeze.

kodiak gold is a super mold resistant strain, i've grown it 2 seasons in a row in terrible late season conditions and no traces of mold. after a few cold nights her purpling comes in full force....the potency won't blow you away but it is a great medical/painrelief buzz/anti-anxiety with a great creeper effect...the buzz is also long lasting. the smell is earthy/tangy/floral, the taste is pretty much exactly what it smells like. grown all organic in the ground.

schnazz#2 is a great outdoor plant, it handled mold conditions very well, awesome resin production....smell is berryish/skunky/earthy manure/very dank... taste is berry/skunky/mountain air...very clean smooth smoke. it's a true outdoor producer of taste, smell, potency, and jar appeal. here's a few pics of some nice outdoor schnazz#2 pics.

special gold is a cross i made from a selected skunk special female crossed with a kodiak gold male. the purpose of the cross was to get monster yields of mold resistant buds that finished in my area in time...plan worked great. smell is fruity/tangy/earthy, this one pretty much tastes how it smells....a buddy of mine from this site refered to it as kinda fabric softener tasting...so maybe some floral kinds of tastes also. the buds are big, dense, and rock hard....i found 2 phenos so far...one SS leaning pheno and one KG leaning pheno. here's a few pics.

Strain/Breeder: Nigerian Nightmare/ Reeferman
Harvest time: almost autoflowering/ end aug/early sept
Latitude of grow:44N
Location:northern midwest usa
Average yield:2-3 oz's per plant
Mold?: alot of bud rot/ mold...budded when it was hot and humid
Potentcy:6-7/10
Year of grow:06

nigerian nightmare starts to flower shortly after you put it out, very photosensitive...my yields were probably small due to the fact i put a bunch of small clones off mothers around mid june and they started flowering about 2 weeks later. bud clustering was strange, it grew buds on top of buds. smell and taste is very old school...skunky/grassy herb...best way i can describe it. she got some real nice purple and violet colors and they weren't due to cold temps since it was flowering in late june through august. here's some pics.
