second time Thrips from FloweryField

A warning to potential costumers of Flowery Field:

i got thrips from their shop in 1070 for the second time, both times sold from the same guy (younger guy with longer brown hair and beard). I even found Thrips on the clones displayed in the shop, at first the staff insisted there are no thrips, its just "markings from spraying", when i showed him another clone next to it, even THEY had to admit these are Thrips. My guess is simply they are to lazy to protect the plants properly.

When i got my preordered plants they already were packed in the box, i did not want to rip it open again and check them for Thrips in the dark shop with several costumers waiting, the situation was uncomfortable enough already.

At home i discovered severe Thrips infection, i immediately wrote a mail to the Flowery Field Office warning them from the infection in their shop in 1070 and asked for replacement, since i paid 9.50€ a piece and i had to throw them away.

Answer from Floweryfield:

"thank you for the information, we disinfected the shop in 1070 already (so they admitted the thrips came from them), a refund is only possible on location when you buy the plants. you can spray them with pesticides and it will be fine. Good luck!"

On my 2 mails afterwards, asking if they DO NOT GUARANTEE PEST FREE PLANTS ANYMORE i simply got no reaction...

I really liked FloweryField, but how they treat their plants and their costumers is unacceptable! There are now way better alternatives like premium genetics or clonelab, no need for this overpriced scammers anymore.

...if Austrian government is doing what they said --> prohibit clones and seeds...it is not a bad idea leaving Austria

...thats why our base was always in Spain if something like this happens...Austria is goin backwards :/

:tiphat:

I doubt the Austrian government will really change the law. After all they are populists and there are not a lot of voters to win with a cannabis discussion. They will stick to the immigration/refugee theme, for now at least. However, for a big company like Flowery Field it makes sense to not take any risks and protect their investment by moving their main business operation to a country with more benificial laws.

And concerning the thrips: When you buy clones you always run the risk of bringing pests to your garden. That's why I've mainly switched to cutting my own clones. However, in my experience and what I've seen and heard from other gardeners Flowery Field are definitely one of the more professional shops and they were always fair with replacements when there were problems with their clones.
I can understand your frustration, fluffybollocks, but calling FF "overpriced scammers" is way over the top. Just go to the shop where you bought the clones like they wrote in their email to you and talk to the vendor, I am pretty sure he will offer you some replacement.

the shop in 1070 is shit since +10 years, run by another guy. once i mentioned the quality problems at cultiva expo, i spoke directley to flowery field boss alex kristen. i and my friends also got bugs every time from this shop. kristen explained they split up business long ago only keep the name, they cooperate with the main production but got their own filthy production in the basement.

Thrips are literally the easiest cannabis pest to eradicate. If they can't keep thrips in control I'd be willing to bet they aren't the only problem.

Well, that's definitely not true. When I first went there in 2010 they did not have any bugs except thrips once during summer which they said was due to switch from spraying to beneficials. Problems started when Reini (I think that was his name) left 3 or 4 years ago. Since then, quality went down. The old guy they put there only talked bullshit ("I recommend strain XY, it tastes like burning cables, when u take that to a party u dont have to share with anyone cause it tastes so disgusting"... wtf?!). Orders were lost and infections started (powdery mildew and thrips)He and the younger bearded dude always blamed each other for not putting the order correct into the system. Besides that, clones in cubes became smaller and more inconsistent in size (same strain, 10 clones, all different size).

Of course they are still part of the same company. A year or two ago Alex himself was in the shop helping out. What changed was that they do not have mother plants in the basement any more but were delivered the small clones for repotting into cubes. I understand why Alex wants to distance himself/his company from the shop - it makes such a big company look very unprofessional.

I always stayed faithful to FF because Alex was the one who fought for legal clarity and took clones from legal grey area to legality for which he deserves much credit. But by now, this achievement does not compensate for poor quality. I'm not happy to say that I'll finally
leave FF behind - there are much better alternatives like Prem.Gen. and Plantnat.
