How many war veterans do we have here? Which war(s)? Which branch?

It seems like a thousand years ago.......I was 18 and getting older by the minute.

This thread is awesome!
I wish I had something cool a la Rutger Hauer at the end of Blade Runner..

" I was in Santa Cruz on Oct 17, 1989. You really understand how small and volatile we are when you see the biggest freakin Redwood giants sway side to side like Dandelions..."

Anyone know anyone that was on the Bay bridge that day? I knew one person that made it off right before the quake/collapse.

Hell hath no fury like Motha Nature....

Rebecca Romijin, Maya Rudolph, Willard Ford (Harrison's son), Vin Diesel's sis Sam, and myself, were all Banana Slugs at the same time...

Mr Burgundy you should have lied and made your story title something along the lines of

"The day I made out with Rebecca Romijin" or something! Unless you're John Stamos..."The day I nailed Rebecca Romijin"

Or Maya Rudolph! Anyone see "Idiocracy"? Hilarious and she's pretty hot in that!

I used to live in Ridgecrest/ChinaLake california...you wanna talk about earthquakes? How about 25-40 DAILY? Granted, most of them were seismically unfeelable...but still, earthquake capital of the US!

HA! Hilarious!

When I first understood Maya's mom was Minnie Ripperton, I broke down and thanked her, and her mom,so to speak. Her mom's music was one of my late dad's faves. On the turntables with heavy rotation back in the day...Maya is just talented, period. She used to sing in a group called Special Sauce back then..

Rebecca and I were not as close as I was with her friends. (Who were all very nice on the eyes) But I will say this much for her-the minute she started to blow up, she was tryin to hook her friends up to take off time from school and keep her company. (Pre Entourage)
Sheeeeet, I can't get family to throw me offers like that! LOL

Vin Diesel's sis Sam is hot.
We used to play hoop together on co-ed teams back then..
"My brother Mark is going to make movies soon.."

I'm just glad she waddn't BS'n us...

25-40 quakes daily? I can see where the novelty wears off. Right after the big one, I was able to sleep through the aftershocks, etc... *yawn* another quake? I won't start worrying till we start countin fingers on the OTHER hand...

I was enjoying a satisfying walk through the economically disadvantaged areas of Oakland.

In October 1991. There was a tiny little wisp of smoke in the distance. I was walking from the West Oakland BART station to Berkeley.

I remember a car full of African America gentlemen rolled by. One of them yelled, "hey White Boy."

It's a 10 or 12 mile walk up to Telegraph in Berkeley. By the time I got there, the flames were burning sorority and fraternity buildings. The sky was black with smoke, but fortunately, the smoke was not staying at ground level.

Lots of people died in the Oakland hills that day.

They said they would LEARN SOMETHING.

But they didn't.

So in October 2017, they repeated the same mistakes in Napa-Sonoma.

in 2009 my then girl friend and i went to a rehearsal dinner at some fancy restaurant on the water in oakland. i took the off ramp before the one i wanted and ended up in an abandoned warehouse area and was immediately pulled over by the police. he said we were in great danger being white in that area and escorted me back to the freeway. little did he know i had an equalizer.

I was in Denver in 2012 when CO voted to become the first REC state. Only been 6 years but already take it for granted that legalization is a wave sweeping the country. Its a trip to think about slinging 10+ years ago, the only option was jail. Now if you got the right permits you can make a tax-paying living off it. Interesting times indeed.

I was there when a semi truck ran over a cop car just outside Baton Rouge on I-12. Literally.

The cop was down in the ditch investigating a car that ran off the road. It was about 2 a.m. You could see the lights flashing for over a mile. The cop was parked in the right lane blocking a bunch of glass and debris in the the road. We running behind the semi in the center lane. My buddy was driving and he slowed down to make sure the semi had room to move over to the center lane. The semi never moved over. His right front tire went down the center of the cop car. Shit flew everywhere. Like a bomb went off.

We pulled up next to the cop car. There was one light still flashing in the rear deck. The car looked like it had been run over by a tank. The semi pulled over a hundred yards or so down the interstate.

The cop, a Parish sheriff popped up out of the bushes and ran over to our car. "Did you boys see what happened?" he says. My buddy piped up and and said "Yes sir, that truck ran over your car!"

No shit, the cop stomped his feet like a kid, spit out some tobacco juice and yelled "Sumbitch!", then he looked at me and said "What did you see boy?", and I said "I didn't see nothing sir, I was asleep." "Good man" he says. Then he stomped his feet again, spit one more time and started heading for the semi. "That sumbitch is going to jail!" he says. My buddy pulled up next to him and asked if he wanted us to stay as witnesses. "Nope, you boys go on, I got it. THAT SUMBITCH IS GOING TO JAIL!"

I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul to waste

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
