Good day jungle crew! Hope this finds all of you doing well. Quick question for you. I may be over thinking things. If anybody reuses soil please chime in. I have a 5 gal that I had what ended up being a male. He dropped male batter all over the place (wasn't in my possession when he finally showed). How long will pollen stay viable? If the soil now has pollen in it, what can be done with soil? Ruined? Reusable? Let me know thoughts please

I have read that water destroys pollen quickly I would think just wet it down and no worries. It swells and and becomes inactive in about 4 hours. I reuse all my soil I just add some rock powders a little more peat and worm castings some happy frog or other compost. My best crop came from a gen 3 soil.

Thank you bud. Wasn't sure what would happen. So figured i would ask in here. Everybody seems humble and welcoming. Didn't want to look like a total fool

thats how we all learn
i agree with rode that a little pollen in the soil should not be a problem
water does inactivate pollen so once you water it, the pollen will begine to degrade
/to remove a flowering male from a grow room, i would spray them down really well so the pollen sticks to the plant

so how do you think your exam went, pfan?

Update and pic

Greetings friends.

I took 1/2 day off yesterday to get out and play some disc golf and get set for the packer game. The weather has been beautiful since the heat wave passed, 70 and sunny. I hope we get plenty more days like that this fall.

I hope everyone is having a good week. Once again the weekend is almost here and the week flew by for me.

@pop_rocks. I'm looking forward to seeing how well the cal/mag plus works too. I'm hoping less ca means that I won't have the ca related lockout issues late in grows. I'm using it more sparingly than I was using the old cal/mag too. I have not completely gotten rid of my mg deficiency because I'm going very light on it. I've got it turned around and it's getting better not worse though. I can't wait to see schmoopy when she is getting close to finish. She's going to be a beauty. With about a month left she is going to get her swell on. Pics appreciated for sure.

@packerfan. Don't get too down about the test. Like you said there are a lot of other factors like extra credit that go into a professors grading. No way to go back and take it over just move on to the next one.

This morning I potted up the 4 plants into new 12" pots filled with ocean forest and about 15% extra perlite. I've been using 14" pots in the past but my last grow got me thinking I was overdoing the pot size a bit. I ended up with just the one girl under my light and got over 7 oz off her last grow. With multiple plants under that light I just don't think I need that much dirt so I'm trying the smaller pots. I watered them in with some cal/mag plus and some kelp nutes and a good dose of fulvic acid. As long as they look happy I'm going to take cuts from them in a couple days and get them flipped to 12/12 in a couple more. Here is a pic of them.

the girls are looking great fiddy
were you planning on topping them
you might want to remove some of the lower growth and use those branches for clones
/helps clean up the under canopy and gives you parts for rooting

about how many gallons are the 12" pots?
schmoopy is in a three gallon container
i usually like to roll with the five gallon buckets when growing larger plants, to give them more room for their roots
because i was using her as a mother plant for a while she has a really good root system so i figure as long as i amend the soil she will have plenty of nutrients
i am going to be hanging out wiht my friend tonight, so i will eb sure to post up more pics soon
/maybe even try and get some close ups of individual branches now that she should be packing on the sugar
hope you enjoyed the game last night!

sucks to hear you dont feel like you did well on the test p'fan
being a student is hard,man!
im sure the prof sees the hard work you are putting in and like you said, pick up all the extra credit you can
and dont hesitate to share anything interesting you pick up while learning
/i think we all like history and its fun to hear stories about the past
explaining a concept helps you really understand it yourself and maybe we can all learn a thing or two and have some fun!

hope everyones week is wrapping up nicely

Hey Tribe all well here Paul Thorn rocking on the Live Lunch on Public Radio. Rolling my lunch in honor of the late Larry Og. She has that peppery og; we all expect . The one with alternating branches has a heavier buzz than the one with even branching it is a more light headiness. They both smell like an old dyke in leather with a dip of snuff.
Oh theres cake

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

My plan is to take tops for first round of clones and to get the canopy more even. I'll root these in rooter plugs in humidity dome like I've had good luck with in the past. In a week or so I want to take a bunch of bottom branches and put them in my new dwc cloner to make sure I have plenty of cuts and to get some experience with the cloner. If the cloner works well I can start using that more in the future. Whatever is easer and I get better success with will determine how I clone in the future.

I wish pots were sold in gallon sizes and not inch sizes. I think the 12" ones are about 4 gallons and my 14" are closer to 6 gallon. The bigger ones were fine but I think overkill a bit. Only way to find out is to try the smaller ones. In the future when I grow 2 per light with clones and a lot of training I'll probably use the bigger ones again.

Looking forward to pics of Schmoopy. Let's see those trichomes.

I'm glad you are digging the Larry. Looks like the reg seeds are more stable than the fems I grew.

Man I could use a nice shroom trip someday soon. I too believe that a good trip cleans the brain and allows more clear thought. Have fun and stay safe brother.

sometimes a break from reality is just the thing to reset the mind and spirit
/im wiht fiddy,be sure to have a couple for us!

that sounds like a solid plan,f'nut
the very tops seem to root the best for me
i think using the lower branches to try out the cloner is a great is a great idea
you can often get two or more cuts from each branch, depending on how long you cut them
just make sure to have your open cut at a node
are you going to use rooting hormone in the cloner?

schmoopy was looking fantastic last night
the first wave of flowers is sparkling and she is adding new growth
im still thinking she will be ready to go by the end of october
my friend was really excited to see how well she was doing and i even gave him a lesson in lst last night using twist ties
we are already planning on next years crop

hope everyone is having a great weeeknd

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

So I'm headed to the Madison hemp fest (aka Midwest harvest fest) this afternoon. It's the longest running cannabis fest in the country going strong since 1971. I haven't been there in ages since I was a teen. When I was very young my parients use to take me with them there in the mid 70's we lived in Madison. The cops seem to leave people alone to get high and listen to music and pro legalization speakers. Hoping to have a good time and puff down on some great herbs.

Yes I want to get the tops and root them the old fashioned way. I've had good luck with the rooters. I got my tray and dome cleaned up and ready to use this morning, probably going to take cuts Monday. But I'm really looking forward to trying the cloner on some bottom branches in a week or so. If it works well I'd like to use it in the future for cloning, it seems really easy to use and dosent require misting domes a couple times a day. Like like I just plug it in and change the water once a week. I don't know if I need rooting hormone in the cloner. From what I've read most people use just water until the plant roots. After the clones root you need to feed them a little if you keep them in the cloner. I'll see how it works and do some more reading to make sure I'm doing it right.

I'm glad to hear that schmoopy is doing well. I love that sparkling look the young buds get. Cant wait to see more of her. That's great news that your buddy wants to do more and you guys are planning for next year already.

Other than the harvest fest and taking cuts I'm not planning on much this weekend. I have a little work to do with the flower tent and I want to make sure that's ready by the end of the weekend. I'm hoping to get the girls flipped by mid next week.

Happy Fall guys
Fiddy those larry regs turned out just like all the rest of Swerves genetics for me solid vigor and good yield. I would run her again if I were not drooling over Gogi OG. I listened to some of the Bodhi podcast and am fired up on his gear and his organic method.
Just started some candy kush. I have a cotton candy cane almost done by emerald triangle and the taste and buzz off some popcorn picked last week has me candy crazy. also found dutch kush in my stash of freebies so I popped it too along with a Barneys cookie kush fem and a Paradise NL X Bigbud from the freebies.
I will be keeping a close eye on the cookies. the candy kush are regs hoping for some fire to save for spring.
Hey check out ReikoX in the challenge. Holeee shiiiiit

PF I been missing some posts what seeds did you say you running. I remember ssdd but you had clones of that right? and tell me more about your sexing process, You cut a clone and flower that? Don't trust preflowers? I saw a post somewhere a guy said the clone went one way and the mother the other way. Made me want some of what he is smoking. Thats not possible eh?

Greetings friends.

It's was a busy morning in the jungle. I got the flower tent light and fans, ductwork ect hooked up and tested so it's plant ready now. I'm really looking forward to having some girls in flower soon. I also took the tops off the 4 plants and got them rapid rooters. The plants were growing nicely about 1/2 inch per day. I think as soon as they start growing again I'll move them into the flower tent. There a little tall already so I'm probably going to have to tie them down to keep them from growing into the light.

@Packerfan. Isn't it a great productive feeling to get things done in the garden. Im stoked to be getting so much done and be back to flowering soon too. I hope you exceed your goals and expectations on this run. We love some bud porn here so please post some pics.

@pop_rocks. I don't really remember the harvest fest from when I was a year or two old but I've heard the stories all my life. My bro and I went out on Saturday but we got there kind of late and there wasn't a lot happening. I think the big event is the Sunday walk to the capital and smoke out. We both had shit to do Sunday so we couldn't do that. There were glass pipe venders but no seeds or treats. We don't even have medical here so I wasn't expecting anyone openly selling anything illegal. The cops are more than glad to watch you smoke a joint and not arrest or ticket you but a vender would be a diffrent storie. The cops in mad town have always seemed to go easy on cannabis users even though it's not legal. Schmoopy is looking great! Those pics show the sparkles really well. I bet she's smells great. Is he far enough from neighbors so the smell won't alert anyone? We had some nice fall like days in the mid 60's this weekend and I took a nice little bike ride in the country on Sunday. October is starting off really nice. It looks like a haunted house here already my wife wastes no time getting ready. Halloween is her favorite Holliday.

@Rodehazrd. Happy fall to you as well. I haven't heard of cotton candy cane but it must be excellent. It sounds like you have some interisting strains in the works. I hope they are all great and you find lots of fire. Keep us posted on how they are going. RE:ReikoX in the challenge. You are right those buds are spectacular. I did a double take for sure when I saw them. He knows how to dial in a party cup for sure. I think I may be a little late to get into it this round. All the plumbing problems and cleanup have taken way too much time. I think I'm still going to experiment with some cups for fun and to learn about coco growing.

Hey, rodehazard, I am running
Cherry sunshine, and terpenado both from bodhi.
Las Vegas lemon skunk x Triangle kush and pure ghost og from cannaventure.

I also have a mother of black triangle, and a couple mini mom's of mendobreath.

I was experimenting with the clones for sex but they haven't shown yet. I had my seed plants under 24 hours light no pre flowers till I flipped to 18 6. Found 4 males so far. For the most part I belive sex is genetic, their are intersexed also. I have not seen it myself.

I read Jorge's encyclopedia on sex determination. He thinks you can affect a tendency toward female with 14 hours of light and warmer temps. He also said more N after the 3rd set of branches helps more females form, This is my first try with a 14 hour cycle for seeds. Going to 18-6 after 5 sets of true leaves . Always before iI used 24 hr light. I will add some calcium nitrate to my micros and myco this time of course in very light doses. I have 9 candy kush regs so anything over 4 will be a bonus for me. 6 would fit nice with the three fems I have under the 1k.
