I would begin with some new pictures of this one. Courtesy of Besthaze.
This one is one of the most tested Catnip seeds variety.
It's been tested since the first seeds appeared.
The story of the mother comes from 2007, when I met a guy in amsterdam who blessed me with some seeds as gift, and among them there was one lonely seed labelled Sour diesel. He assured that all the seeds from that pack were exceptional ones and sure keepers. I didn't actually believed him till I saw the result in plant form.
It was after several blind test sessions and after growing the real Sour diesel from Rezdog and other sour clones that I was sure that that seed was actually an early version of Sour diesel. Dont' know if it came from Rez or not, but for sure it was more raw, unrefined version of the ibl, even if it still possess the strong typical sour smell, more on the sour side than the petrol fuel.
The raw potency is debilitating, one hit wonder.
It smashes your face like a strong punch between the eyes, grabs your whole skull and shakes it...
This is a strong one. It is followed by a strong psychedelic high that sets your day and afterward smokes into a different level.
It's a no ceiling high.
The mother, as entry this year scored a 4th place in the sativa grower category.
Everyone enjoyed her taste and punch.
Flavour is really different and unique, leaving a sour backtaste for minutes.
This was the first thread on the mother:
2007 Sour Diesel:
Since the beginning it was clear to me that I had something rare in my hands.
This is probably the most outcrossed female I've been working with.
I grew her siblings from different fathers and I know how she behaves.
When I found the agent orange male it was clear that was a good candidate.
And the sour ao were first to be tested and proudly shared with friends to try out.
After almost two years, the feedback from people is great on this strain.
Sour is pretty dominant on everything. The only genetics able to tame her are pure sativas landraces.
Here on this cross sour gives her power, her smell, her aspect to most the siblings. the agent o male adds resin, faster flowering time, and aroma.
A good array of flavours are there.
I found basically two phenos. the smaller one and the taller one.
the smaller is more sour, sticky, smelly, super strong, low orange.
the taller is abeauty of production and pungent orange smell, well balanced with sourness of the mother. Here it's a really uplifting stronger sativa high.
Beware! people trying this strain cannot leave it anymore.
Take a look at my friend Jah Hoover. He's an expert of sour diesel and he collects them in all her expressions and differences.
He felt in love so much with sour orange that selected a super male to backcross with his best sour diesels to give an orange twist to his crossings.
I sampled one of his final products and it was really nice! Congrats JaH!
Now he started a line called Orange diesel, a sort of a joint project with Catnip seeds, so happy he was with them.
For sure there will be a refined version one day!
Some people may pop up here to show their results, It would be wonderful.
I need time to sort around picts and update more this thread.
Now I'm going to fire up a J of sour orange...
