Final topping of the year...

So tomorrow is the 23rd which is the new moon. From what I understand during a new moon the plant goes into its dormant stage and is the best time to prune and do your topping. It gives the plant a chance for the hormones to be redistributed back into the new tops for a few days before the waxing moon sets in. I have always topped in the last week of july, trying to achieve a completely full canopy. For those of you who do top, when are you doing your final topping and what are you trying to accomplish?
