Beautiful and inspiring pics there D9!
Just getting my PPK setup built as we speak. Looking forward to posting a new thread soon :)

DrFever - can I suggest you take any one of many subtle/not-so-subtle hints and just READ the other threads brother. They cover every question I notice you posting about PPKs.

thank you! hope i'm not boring everyone to death!

NOT at all. When I log on, the first button I hit is "My Posts". And I honestly get excited when I see the "a ppk for a 6 plant limit" in bold, showing new posts. I really enjoy learning about what you're doing.

I was all gearing up to build a few undercurrent systems until I came over here and seen what you are doing. Being that I'm a noob, and taking on more than I should:wallbash:.... your method of grow seems best for me.

I haven't read up on the 8/4/8/4 veg but I think you need 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness to trigger flowering.

My current monsters. I'm pretty sure these are going to be too large for my space and will require extensive work to keep them tamed around the barebulbs. (droopy cuz of lights off photo). Theses plants are perky and exploding now. More pics soon.

My 1st attempt. I used coco instead of turface/napa and ran into over-watering/drowning issues. Plants still killed it at nearly 2lb/ea

Thanks for all the help D9!

Flipped them a few days ago. I still might be in some trouble here.

Beautiful looking plants though with literally ZERO input from myself besides keeping my bulk res topped up. No additives. Jacks + CalNit only.

4' Bamboo stake for scale.

Folks! If you haven't took the time to wrap your head about everything that is the PPK.. I suggest you get to it. The PPK works and is an amazing method of performance and reliability.

that is the way to hit the plants with bare vert bulbs. the sweet spot from the arc tubes is centered on the approx centers of plant mass.

maximum interception and it suppresses vertical stretch, making the plants more bush-like. this increases circumference and is the way to get maximum canopy= yield.

Any more PPK pics anyone?

I know there are some PPKers lurking around here. Where are all the good shots?

Looks like some pretty sweet pics here. Not trying to hijack the thread but I don't really understand PPK. Ive been a soil grower now getting ready to switch up to RDWC. Is there an advantage to PPK and can someone, anyone give me a good explanation of PPK? Thanks

Salgado,

The link Av8or posted should give you plenty of reading however it's been stripped of a lot of the good pics. Here are a few more which might help.

Try his new thread - https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=292102
Or original plassive plant killer thread - https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=138004

Lots of changes have made as the system evolves.. the basic principals remain the same.

In short, the PPK is a passive wick hydroponics method combined with a quick top feed flash flood. The wick (the pipe filled with media you see sticking down into the lower container) is a fail safe in case the top feed pump were to fail as well as functioning as a mechanism to lower/remove the "perched water table" from your upper container.. leaving an optimal zone for excellent root growth. It also offers some other benefits such as preventing nutes/salts accumulating in the root zone and so forth.. you control the moisture in the upper container both with the water level (set via float valve in your "pulse" rez) and your top feed watering volume/intervals. There is a hydraulic "hook-up" action which occurs during a flash flood of the upper container. As to not starve the feed pump of water it'll suck water back from the plant containers. This in turn sucks tons of oxygen down into the rootzone.

Don't allow it to confuse you.. It's a top feed (preferable full flood of upper container) combined with a wick setup (tailpiece filled with your media). If after reading the threads mentioned you still have some issues understanding feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions.
