My first grow! (with pics)

Hell IC, I am new to growing but not new to Cannabis, lol. I recently became a legal patient and as there is no real legal way of procuring it here, I am forced to grow, or should I say forced to start, the addiction is keeping me at it daily. (addiction of growing, pot is not addictive -Rosenthal) Anyway as I am not very calculated or organized I thought I should start a journal, and as I've been reading/learning from other's threads I figured it would be good to have a forum of my own for advice/criticism/mistakes and have a bit of fun while at it. I did a lot of reading and studying before I ever even planned the space out, this has been a long time in the making and I hope I'm at long last getting to the point where I'm ready.

Lets get to it.

My setup is a 5x10ft area approx 7ft high. I have 2 Raptor hoods and 2 lumatek dial-a-watts. (Currently running at 1k, although only half of the room is currently in use.) The Raptors are ducted with an 8in inline. There is a second inline for ventilation/airflow hanging above the hoods, which will receive a carbon filter when I have time to build one. I also have 2 a/c window units dedicated to cooling the room and a couple of clamp fans breezing on my girls. I water with tap adjusted to aprox 6.0 and im using dyna grow basic nutes with micros, overdrive, calmag, and foliar with neem oil. I foliar 2-3 times a day and nute only 1 watering per week. I sit at a solid 80 degrees during the day and around 75 at night. They are on 18/6.

They are currently 19-20 in tall (exact age can be determined but I'd have to look it up idk off the top of my head), 2 different strains 1 is Banana Kush and the other is Platinum Bubba Kush. I was planning on going into flower last week but some of the Banana's began to show a mag deficiency. So I treated that and since there has been no advancing of the condition I will go into flower this week after I make absolutely sure there are no light leaks.

When I can edit my own posts I will fix it. Thank You. No point in putting them in now and doubling up.

This is my cloning station currently germinating some seeds they are separated into strains and there are a few clones (my first) to practice so I'm ready to cut a full cycle before I go into flower.

Ok well I didn't understand about trimming very well when I first started but after some good solid training from a friend I think I have a better idea of what I should have been doing from day one. I started a rigorous trimming regimen about 10 days ago and I think I'm beginning to get to the point I should have been at in the first place, albeit after much wasted growth/light/nute, I'll chalk it up to experience gained. My issue is that I do not have the money for the rest of the nutes I need to go into bloom so I'm in perpetual veg until I can afford it. Here comes my question, I get how to top/trim/train my bushy plants so that I can maintain the height requirements I have, (horizontal space isn't an issue only vertical), but what about the christmas tree structure ones? How effective will topping those be? Should I wait until later on in bloom when the tops are ripe and trim to let the rest of the plant mature further or will topping and training now promote a larger harvest in the end. Like I said only half the room is in use. I can fire up the other light and spread them out and have more than enough room regardless of how bushy they get I'm just limited to 6-7 feet of vertical growth and I'm concerned about my harvest suffering if I don't get this right and get started now.

All that grow equipment and no money for bloom nutes???

Folair feeding three times a day sounds a little excessive; I folair feed three times a week, if that.

You can pick up a bloom formula for like $5 or less since you're going chemical. I'd do all my topping and training now before flowering. The christmas trees won't be christmas trees if topped/trained.

During flowering, you can remove select fan leaves to allow more light to bottom buds. I don't remove any leaves that don't want to come off myself, but you can experiment and see how it works for you. You can also LST (tie the top down) to cause the plant to stay lower and bush out.

Good luck, that's a pretty serious setup for a first grow!

I got some good advice about supercropping, and I think thats the way I am going to move. I bought my system sort of piecemeal, and pretty much ran out of money at the end, in fact there are a few more things I'd like to get that are on the waiting list. As for $5 nutes well that may be good enough for some, but my bloom nutes cost about $150 min, just to get started in bloom. I thought my business would take care of it but I hit the slow time a bit before I anticipated, bills hit all at once this month.. well you get the idea. Got one more major bill to take care of then I should be good to buy em all at once (fingers crossed). So I am going into bloom in the next couple of days since I have about a week of leeway before they really NEED anything else.. Got some clones pretty far along now prolly just bloom those too. Holy Moly this is scary as hell, and yet very exciting.. like gambling.. but months in the process and very little can fuck it up. No wonder cultivating is so addictive. Ok going to go smoke and slow the heart rate a bit lol.

What kind of grow and bloom nutes are you using/planning on using?

Ah, Dyna Grow, got you. You're not going to be folair feeding with neem during flowering, right?

Those chemical nutes tend to be extremely overpriced for what they are since they offer a solution in a bottle to the pot grower. I've switched to strictly organics.

Looking good, but there's just no way a first timer "needs" to spend $150 on flowering nutes. You can get great results even if you don't spend much.

Don't fall for all the marketing bullshit.
