Have any of you guys reading this tried H&G top shooter or shooting powder ? It's the only one I haven't got and was wondering if it's good ?

Hi TnT, I am thinking about giving up my addiction to soluble fertilizer salts and minerals in a bottle, they work good and are easy and convenient to use but they are damaging the environment so I have built myself one lf these...

It's an aact bubbler brewer that I rigged up with spare materials laying around.
I think that this would be the cheapest solution over bottled salt ferts. Bigger containers with a high porosity substrate such as coco mixed with organic amendments and some aact brewed with living beneficial organisms well it sounds like a nature friendly alternative and alot of grower's use this

What is in it, and what is your medium?

Do you use sterile reservoir with RDWC or active???? I found light getting at water causes problems, and use black buckets, and coat all pipe with gorilla tape.

I don't have that much experience with rdwc, I've grown 4 crops using dwc/ rdwc. I think it's very important to keep everything sterile and light proof, I had so so results last harvest and I was too lazy to light proof the buckets, best is to get black buckets at a hydro store, I used ones I already had, by the time I finished building the vert room and built the rdwc system from scratch with stuff I had leftover from renovations.. I do it all by myself and with watering 2 rooms daily I got tired didn't really feel like going in there much either it's cramped and I have to struggle between the 2 rows of rdwc buckets.. You try to kneel down and you end up sitting on the plant behind you ;) And my system wasn't done if you look at the pics u can see theres no way of draining the entire system without removing the lid and and plant on top of the bucket and syphoning each bucket. My main problem was building a room arround plants, it's hard to do anything once there in. If I do another rdwc I'll pay attention to the details alot more.

The blue reservoir is for making my own aerated tea compost, It's something I wanted to try for a while. I use earth worm castings as the main ingredient with natural decaying leaf compost from my back yard with some black igneous volcanic rock matter and unsulphured molasses and a few other ingredients. It's super aerated, like dwc but on steroids, basically the beneficial bacteria naturally present in the worm castings and natural leaf compost are given the 2 main factors they need to super reproduce and bring a host of other microbes, bacteria and some nematodes and fungi with them, all that's required is water , air and sugar and of course the microbes found in compost or worm castings.. By using these brewed tea's you bring a complete living ecosystem that brings life to your soil, the bacteria and nematodes feed off organic matter and root excretions and some bacteria eat other bacteria leaving behind things like nitrogen and phosphorous etc It's kinda hard to explain but I've been reading up on it and this is a widely used practice and definitely works very good. Summer is right around the corner and I plan on having a nice little veggie garden in my back yard, I'm going to reuse all the promix Ive used since I moved here over a year ago. I use it once and dump it out in a pile, the pile is huge and looks like I'm excavating a peat moss swamp.. I can reuse it in the garden by need to add something to it like compost and some organic amendment cause promix without the nutes is dirt poor and won't grow nice veggies, I don't use chem ferts on our vegetables we grow, so the aerated compost tea is mainly for the outside garden, Its going to super activate that sterile promix and help the plants assimilate the organic amendments I add like guano, ewc, compost, igneous volcanic rock, blood and fossilised bone meal with some raw kelp. Takes a season or two then after that you start having nice living fertile soil.. I might start doing some big tree growing, I can't do the vertical rooms with lots of plants for ever, when they legalize I'd like to get a production license if it's going to be a self regulated market, there not giving us much info right now but from the documents published and comments politicians have made to the media it appears it is headed that way, so if and when they do take applications for new producers, I will be one of the many guys trying to get that piece of paper that separates being a black market criminal to being a licensed producer.. Along with all that crazy record keeping paperwork and accounting that goes with legit businesses.

Obviously your license entitles you to x number of plants at any given moment so with that constraint the limiting factor in total production would be the size of the plants and the genetics used. So I think if I was given the opportunity to run my own commercial recreational cannabis farm I would want to keep things as simple and as efficient as possible and avoid taking risky chances with touchy hydro systems, everything is more costly just to set up especially on a larger scale, you need more time to set kt up and get it running, you then have to make sure everything is running we'll and adjust and tweak and monitor.. Definitely impressive once you dial it in along your strain but many more pitfalls than good old pro mix, coco or organic soil mixes. Big organic trees with huge planting containers grown with vertical bare bulbs hanging between them or alot of overhead double ended fixtures or why not a combination to give your tree light from every possible angle.

I'm doing 2 more vertical gutter grows after this one because the clones are already prepared, then I'm not sure what I want to do.. That's my biggest problem, making a decision and sticking with it. I tend to over think and over analyse stuff, almost ocd perfectionist but not to be better just the way my brain's wire, I'm very planed and and meticulous worker, it has avantages but can a real pain in the butt when I have to make decisions. Problem is inside growing is so vast and so many good systems and styles and equipment to choose from. Like a kid at the toy store feeling.

I got this delivered to my friends house a couple days ago, got a good deal for it so Im going to test it for a bit, wanted...still want the gavita line up but I can always find something to do with this one if I don't like it. It comes with a maxpar bulb might change that right away.. I would either try the gavita or philips bulb solid reputation and proven results are reassuring unless some of you would recommend another brand???

Cool de. U got a lot of ceiling height? That top shooter n other pk additive r pretty strong, my advice is to only add total pk boosters to 100 ppm max in ur nutrient concentration.

It will be interesting to see how the state grants lisenses. I expect the connected friends of politicians all have the advantage of getting approved first of course. I'd like to think the average small grower that passes all their red tape will just as easily get approved, but I have my doubts.

Those gutters overflowing yet?

A few pics at day 46 after watering.

Everything is going well, they are fat and tight and frosted so that's a good sign. Some of the older leaves are starting to turn yellow so I will give one maybe two more waterings with H&G recipe and start flushing with out ro water, pp will go anywhere from 56 to 64 days depending on how you grow her and when she's this fat it's best to harvest a bit earlier to avoid mold from setting in and too much ferts till the end also encourages mold I've noticed. Don't want to speculate on numbers it's definitely going to beat the last one like a heavyweight vs a handicap... I'm impressed especially since the bulbs are from last summer and have 10 month's of 12/12 usage these buds are nice.

I didn't get the top shooter/ shooting powder..I gave a good watering of some home made act friday night, they loved it, didn't water Saturday... And last night gave the h&g cocos a+b with bud xl and some molasses and I'll repeat that tonight.. My tds/ec probe on my hanna pen is busted can't check the ec/ppm so I'm following recipe, h&g says you can add 1.5 ml a+b additional per gal for aggressive feeders like these pp girls so that's what I did until last night now I'm back to following the 8 week feed chart, I give less at this point it's pointless and I try to concentrate at resin production and flushing

Sorry for the low quality pics, I was crouching down with the mini watering wand in one hand and the cell in the other taking pictures. I have become quite the contortionist watering the ladies in this room trying not to get my arms all sticky and at the same time being careful not to burn myself on those vertical bulbs there's no room in there at least this time the bottom row plants are moveable I usually set them aside to acces the room. The girls on the top shelf are growing downwards towards the bulbs they're no longer at a 45° angle, they're more like at a 75° angle but amazingly they're not sagging at all, I've never seen their branches this strong, I've also never done entire rooms of pp untopped I usually top once or twice early on and train them to grow bushy and usually by the 5 th week I def need to support the weight, I usually use bamboo stalks with double sided velcro tapes and train them. This is end of week 6 and no support whatsoever which is great cause I hate the time it takes to tie every single girl in the room and then when you harvest you have to remove the Velcro's or tie wraps or whatever, you have to consider the amount of time and try to save and simplify when you can after you start running a 6 kw show + 1kw veg and nothing is automated. Time consuming especially when you start posting on forums and take time to document I've always wanted to post but never been courageous enough. Anyways a big thank you to the guys who take the time to share their own personal knowledge and experiences with everyone here.

Miraculous Meds you're opinion and prediction of the upcoming legalisation reflects my own and almost every other grower I talked to about it, it normally tends to work that way for everything else.. But according to their own task force recommendation it would suggest they are considering something more like the beer ,wine and alcohol market where big breweries and small specialised craft brewer's all sell and compete with their products the task force recommendation points out that only allowing big production sites and corporation to be granted production licences would be highly unconstitutional and would ultimately be challenged and also increase the need and chances of blackmarket supply to re enter and directly cause substantial taxe and profit loss from licensed producers. They used their own medical cannabis law change sometime in earl 2010 period where medical patients we're allowed to grow their own or designate someone as a caregiver and after the harper law change you couldn't grow it yourself anymore nor could you designate someone of your choice. People had to buy it using mail order delivery at 7$-12$ per gram from one of the 12 or so designated producers across the country.. People cried injustice and fought for their rights and eventually a few years after the supreme Court overruled and declared it was unjust to force people to choose from a few big producers and have to buy something they could grow for almost nothing... They apparently would allow for smaller producers to enter the market and suggested it would be unconstitutional otherwise as to obtain a production facility license requires investments in the 1 million plus league which makes it obviously impossible for 99% of the guy's interested and actually are supplying the existing cannabis needs of the illicit trade.. Not fair, not going to put an end to black market with a system like that, it's almost doomed to fail leaving doors wide open for hell's angel's and rock machine's who are all coming back to society in the next coming year's. They grow alot of weed and like to buy the supply to control prices.. So I was shocked after reading this task force document, they claim to be following the recommendations.. Im still skeptic myself, who knows maybe they figured out a cleaver way to let us do our thing and milk some ( alot) dolla bills outa us poor farmer's who keep the mass of stoners baked and medicated with our vertical and horizontal hobbies..

I'm also going to have to add a few gutter clips to support this weight, it was fine last grow but I was watering and dropped a buckets maybe 3 inches above the gutter and that was enough to unclip the support holding it underneath, for a moment I thought the whole row was going to crash down.. Got lucky only one plant fell over, head first though for sure she had her top snapled looked like a gymnast after taking a flop with the legs bent over the back but not she didn't turn paraplegic on me, pick her up and baam standing proud and straight, definitely stronger brach structure when un topped.

I have a bit of a problem now with mono cropping PowerPlant 2x in a row, actually 2 problems, first I'm eventually going to run out of buds from my other sttains I'm not running and second my other mom's are looking phat and not being able to donate and getting regular trimings is like a milk cow who's not being milked what should I do?

This is the biggest girl, she'll take over all the space then start shadowing the others in an attempt to hog all the halide energy she's a survivor and is more than capable of getting me into the 1# + per plant inside vip club, her name is Jillybean she's quite the indica/sativa freak with a fragrance that any man would kill for.

Top them n throw the tops away if u don't need cuts. Or top them n throw the clones into flower on the floor. Or top them, throw the moms in flower on the floor, n save clones for smaller, more manageable moms.

I was already thinking of option # 3 suggested by MiraculousMeds, take clones from the branches I prune, tie those big ladies down and lollypop the branches. Jack, Jilly and PP down on the floor, scrog style in big Rubbermaid bins. The 4th mom is going outside somewhere I don't know quite yet, maybe I'll give her away.. 4th mom is Agent Orange x Swazi cross I made for fun last year, we named her "christmas piss" she smells like a christmas tree and cat pee not worth the space she takes up in my small veg room.

I've added an 8000 btu window ac to lower temps and humidity during lights off. She produces superior resin and terpenes with a cold finish and is more appealing visually with darker colors and slight purple streaks.
