this is timely,,,
been having shit with vw,,as we are selling my wifes mk5 r32 and I found out that although the car has a full main dealer vw service history they neglected to service the haldex 4wheel drive system at 40k miles!!,,
i only become aware of this when I was checking things for the next owner and "did my bollocks" when I found out they hadn't carried out this critical piece of work,,,,
there attitude was even worse with " sorry mate,,,we don't see many of them being a limited edition and its easy to forget they are 4 wheel drive",,i said thats not good enough and will vw pay the ££££k if it needs replacing,,,,of course not,,,,
so no more vw and wife will get a mint ford fiesta st with all the bits,,,,,forgot to say,,the buyer of our car pulled out when he found out haldex service was neglected even though I explained I will get it done asap [haldex service carried yesterday],,cash was "burning a hole in his pocket" and he bought another one instead of waiting for ours,,,good luck to the chap but ours is a lovely car and will go pretty quickly,,,,,feck vw though,,,,s2

I'm glad I've been a gear head since I was a kid. I always did my own repairs unless there was machine work needed, and even then I did my own assembly. When I was young and into hot rods I had an entire room of spare parts. My first wife was always complaining about all the room it took up until one day she comes home and the car was clanking. Long story short, I had all the parts I needed and only spent about $6.00 on gaskets and saved over $500. She never complained about that again.

What a topic...

My radiator being replaced so it wouldn't ruin the engine...well, it did and I only went in with a transmission problem in 12/13. Spent most of 2014 renting cars. That Honda was towed so much AAA cancelled my 45 year membership and sent me a bill for $60.00, for the extra tow. At least, I am grateful for that--one break that was delightful. It is now re-instated.

The car...well, abandoned-really!

He replaced all the hoses, next time-radiator cap; then thermostat and then some electronic module controller gizmo thingy, etc. Finally, 1/2015 I called and let him know I was pretty tired of all this shit that my dad taught me better and that rust on the spark plug can only mean ONE thing and I wanted it fixed. We argued and I am in no position to even want to go to court or fight with him anymore. We agreed he'd fix it at half price. That was January, I've seen my car once since then..I went in and paid the bill 2.5 mos ago and left it.

He called 3 weeks ago and said he'd deliver it to me. I am not holding my breathe waiting, anyway. I know I need to do something but, I am just worn out with disgust, disease and age. Sure miss those days of visceral appropriate angry energy, it was always nice to be able to switch from nice to I am gonna make you do the right thing!
At this point, he has to move that damn car from his repair bay every morning and every night! Silent..costly revolting! After a year, I figure the time he spends doing that is payment for what he charged to fix his mistake! I'd get a non-op permit and take it off my insurance but, it would probably be easier to take him to court than mess with the California DMV. And I am not up to either.

IDK if I should cry, laugh or shit and spread it all over his business door knobs(passive aggressive). :moon: jpt
