I have a couple of buds from 1996, and maybe 10-12 oz from 2008 to 2010. Lots from from 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015........not boasting just can only smoke so much......

May I ask how you keep it?

Has the taste changed?

The oldest I have ever smoked was about five years old. Nice buzz and still tasted fine.

I am very curious as to how you store it as well. Also, pardon my ignorance (and I'm not being sarcastic) but, is there any advantage to aged bud? I know you're not bragging but, is there any reason to brag about aged marijuana? I've only heard of cons and never any pros on old bud but I'd love to hear otherwise. If I learn of a good reason, forget the wine cellar. I'm building a bud cellar!

I wish, my stash gets hit hard.
I consider it a good crop if it makes it till the next one.

1996! i'd need to see it to believe it, no offense.
how much do you grow? indoors/outdoors?

I have some from the first joint I ever smoked in 1966 .................... locked away in my mind with all the rest ................ couldn't find it if I had to, but it's there ................

+1 on giving more than 6mo supply away unless you knew you weren't going to grow again for a while. Fire up another grow & give away the old stuff when you crop. Edibles are super easy to give away & not much worse for the wear when made with old product. :)

After 6mo, most of the light (mono)terps have evaporated & many of the sesquiterpenes & cannabinoids have oxidized. If you are storing longer than 6months, consider sealing with nitrogen. Citrusses, florals & hazey terps do especially poorly in long term storage, IMO. Skunk, coffee, funky, berry smells fare better, but still fade with time.

Maybe 18 months, some Zamaldelica and Thai Haze x skunk.

All the wide leaf stuff like sensi star, white rhino and nebula
go pretty quick, nothing older than 3 or 4 months.

weed around me doesnt get a chance to last that long lol. i'd be cool to sit on a jar of buds for a decade though and see what becomes of it.

i'd be interested to see what the bud from 1996 looks like if you can throw up a picture or two :)

Oldest I've ever held was some super lemon haze that was 2 years old, but all the sativa psycoactivity had changed into and indica type effect, definite couclock...

I also got some 2 year old buds from a Buddy who isn´t a daily toker and though it was stored in glass yars in the dark, the buds lost some flavor and strength. It´s still good and as smooth as it can get, but some terps were lost... I´d say 3-6 months is perfect, when it´s not totally vacuum sealed...

When the new crop is in, cured and ready to smoke, it's time to compost the two year old bud. Always keep last year's harvest in case of crop failure.

I have a few buds left from an ounce I bought in 2000 right before I started growing. I have maybe 2 buds from a Northern Lights harvest in 2002. I wish I still had some of my C99 from 2001, my second grow and my first grow with good seeds. I had a stash of buds from all my harvests from 2001 through 2012, but my last gf smoked most of them.

I keep them in ziplock bags sealed in mason jars in the freezer. I let them thaw out before opening a jar. Bud or trim kept at room temp for a few years has mostly CBN instead of THC. You have to keep it frozen to keep the quality over the years.
