Orange Grove guerrilla grow

I checked on the birdseed plant tonight and it had no leaves left, ravaged by the bugs. It is raining here now so I won't be heading out to the swamp. I decided to give it the chop cause I wont have time to plant anything this week.

who came here thinking it was a grow on an actual orange orchard?

wow surprising seedfood stock you would think would be hardy against bugs... guess perhaps have different bugs then further northern latitutdes where the seed grew.

cheers!

lol I actually thought about that when I made the thread title. I made a point to capitalize the name of the strain to make it more obvious but it looks like you still got suckered into checking out my thread.

I have family that lives in the same city as the Tropicana plant. The first time I was down there many years ago I stepped outside at night and smelled something very citrusy that I couldn't quite identify. I found out that the factory burns orange peels. This strain reminds me of the first time I smelled that. Smells like orange peels with a hint of burnt rubber.

The birdseed plant wasn't from actual hemp seed for birds. It was from some mj seeds that I had tossed out there.

While mowing I noticed that a few more popped up in the birdseed pile...

Stopped out at the plot yesterday to find the 2 plants I had dropped in the ground had kicked the bucket. Only thing I can think of that killed them was all the rain. The native soil has very poor drainage and I honestly expected that things could go wrong cause of it. Glad I put the others in the bags.

The others seem to be having some sort of issue I can't quite identify. Bugs have chewed them up a bit, but not enough to cause a setback. Maybe I added too much fertilizer? The bottom leaves are yellowing like you see in nitrogen deficiency, but are also showing these little copper colored streaks...

Everyone was given a gallon of pH adjusted water.

This plant seems to be suffering the most. Any ideas on what's up?

Looking good for the most part!

Thats interesting. is that soil from last year? What was done to it before planting?
Yeah, that's last years soil. Seeing that a plant managed to grow itself without any care or amendments, I chose not to mess with it a whole lot. I pulled the old roots out and broke up all the clumps of soil so that everything would be airy and loose instead of compacted. Added several handfuls of commercial fertilizer to each bag and mixed it in well. The holes had the same thing done to them but have twice as much soil as the bags. This really has me scratching my head...

What is the commercial fertilizer you used? I assume its slow release. I recommend mixing in a little (1/4 cup) lime to neutralize acidity each year especially in potting soil from last year. .

It's a 12-12-12 NPK slow release from a company called The Anderson's, I'll try and get a pic later on. The water I use is very alkaline. I actually drop in some acid to bring it down. I also have lime I can toss in there if need be. I'm just trying to be certain on what's messing with them before pulling the trigger. The one was doing great before I touched it so it must be something I did. I can assume it may be messing with the others but not enough to kill them like the ones in the ground. I'll have a better idea when I stop out next time. I'm pressed on time though, Fall's a comin'.

Stopped by the plot tonight to check on things. I've been putting it off because of the amount of rain we've been getting and a few days ago we had another flash flood warning. As I expected, the plants were well watered. No work needed to be done tonight, in fact the the soil felt a bit too wet which is what I now know is stunting their growth.

I probed the soil where I had put the two in the ground and it was soaking wet. I'm positive that's what killed them now. I guess this year has been the 4th highest in rainfall for our state on record, and the season's not even close to being over. All the corn is way behind and many soybean farmers decided to not even plant this year because of it. I feel terrible for all these people who may be loosing their livelihood.

We've got a few dry days ahead and then more storms being predicted.
Exactly 4 weeks until we start seeing flowers. Things have to dry out or this season will be a bust for me.

The first plant in the photos is my favorite, probably the most healthy too. I'm a sucker for those fat Indica leaves and close internodes.

Orange Grove #6 along with a picture of a dying leaf and some of the stunted undergrowth on one of the others...

I've heard reports that a low flying helicopter was spotted in an area not too far from the plot. Something else to watch out for I guess, hopefully not LEO...

This is the fertilizer I used...

That must have been it, they don't like being too wet! Looks like they're growing good now! A little sunshine goes a long way. What portion of the nitrogen is slow release in the Andersons fert.?

The bag doesn't say which is time release, but it says that it is 4.69% ammoniacal and 7.31% urea Nitrogen.

Been getting hit by storms off and on today, hoping that things will clear up over the weekend. The plants need all the sunshine and dry weather they can get.
