Thanks for sharing the progresses of your grow with us

Interesting to see Congo and Bangi Haze regular grown side by side, can clearly identify the congolese sativa traits in both strains, with Congo having the extra PCK touch.
Glad you are also growing Malawi along with them, she is less tamed in size and she has a slightly longer flowering time but she also works great indoors so i hope you won't have any problem with her.

What's the genetic background of Pure Africa fem ?

I used to grow Sensi's Mexican sativa 20 years ago, at that time it was an unstable mexican x durban/pakistani polyhybrid but we found interesting phenos.... Maui Waui (not from Nirvana) was one of the first cannabis strains i grew and which made me fall in love with cannabis ... hope you also find interesting plants with your Mauis!

Hi Elmer,

I guess you've been mistaken by the fact that i quoted Farmerlion to thank Big Medecine for this thread and all his great pics... ;-) He's the one who deserves all the credits, sorry for not having been clear enough...

I wish i also had trouble reaching my pots but, since i'm outdoor, it's not likely to happen anytime soon ;-)

It's also what I'd do but, in my humble experience, I haven't had much success at reversing N deficiency yellowing in advanced flowering plants. Also, having to process extra N after a lack of it often seems to somewhat keep already far into flowering plants to optimize their P's assimilation. But then, I'm outdoor in a very different climate zone so it may be totally different in your case... ;-)

Yo sticky!, I'm pleased to report that the Malawi's both greened up a little. I have to agree with you in most cases. If they are yellowing early, not usually much you can do.
But these are Malawi at 8 wks when I fed them, looking good now. They also got a compost tea and coconut water powder. They are somewhere around day 66 of flower.

Thanks Brotha! More to come for sure. I run lots of exciting varieties. Just trying to keep the threads on target. Don't even want to count how many genetics im holding right now. Something like 30-40 atm. Multiple flower rooms, breeding tent, off site male tent, and seed projects! Too much to post on!

Thanks a lot dubi! I've been wanting to do some posting but have never really took the time to do it right in my mind. I will say, seeing you active on icmag and growing this exciting Africa Sativa room made it easy! I like to get involved with the breeders of the strains I'm growing. It's nice to get the real back story, not just whats in the catalogs. I read up all of the Congo, Bangi Haze, and Malawi threads on here and thought it would be nice to add to the community.

I really wish I had a larger population with these, especially in the case of the congo. It looks like it really needed the PCK addition. The height really slowed down in flower and is finishing just behind the Bangi Haze. It was the tallest in veg, but stretched the least. She is really a beauty of a plant! Large Sativa flowers that smell woody and floral. The fragrance really stepped up in the last 2 weeks! And the color is amazing. Everyone that has seen it is blown away!

The 2x Bangi Haze are almost Identical! It is an ideal plant for a scrog, not as rigid and easily manipulated. And even though I'm not the biggest citrus fan, the smell and flavor is delightful!

And the 2x Malawi's are very alike as well, but one is definitely gonna make bigger, less elongated buds. Both have a savory sweet smell that I can not wait to try! No problem growing indoors, I always just tell people to treat the first 2-3 wks of flower as veg.

I really want to try and flower from seed/clone with the malawi or any of her F1's or S1's. How big do you think they will get?

The Pure Africa is a Kenya, Kilimanjaro IBL fem from Original Sensible Seeds. I think the nick named it the "Resonator". My pheno seems to be short and bushy, and is a very beautiful plant. Shorter, wider, and chunkier than durban. And has the same raunchy funk smell to it that I like in the chunkier Bangi Haze has, with out the citrus.

I read it was a Oaxacan x Pakistan. Being from USA, Mexican varieties sound like brick weed. But I would have liked to get a female just for the variety

Also bummed I didn't get a female with this one but I'm making Bangi Haze x Maui Waui F1's with both short and a tall males right now and I'm guessing they are gonna be DANK!
Also making Congo x Maui Waui F1's, Congo F2's, and Bangi Haze x Congo F1's!

Yeah, you nailed it!
I would love to not have to commando crawl into my rooms to water and stuff but I do what I can! That's just the reality of growing in a basement. I've ran Irrigation but never set it back up...
Really thinking of trying out some Autopot Products. They make an Easy2Go product that I think will fit in my 24" saucers along with a 15 Gal roots pot, and will water my plants as needed. Gonna be ordering up a few here soon.
My other Idea is to make some wicking containers. I think they would kick ass with my organic soil because it doesnt like drying out

Hey Everyone! Time for an update!

The Bangi Haze 1&2 are ripe and ready for harvest, along with the Pure Africa. The Congo and the Malawi 1&2 need another week or two. I'm not in a rush to harvest but I blew a breaker and lot power to my flip box... So the sativa room got full power lights during the night cycle for about 5 min before I caught it. So I think I'm gonna wrap up this grow before something bad happens...LOL

Glad you appreciate the stability and good traits of Bangi Haze, tons of work behind this line ... I see more potential in Bangi Haze hybrids because the line is highly inbred nowadays, but for that we need solid inbred lines first and Bangi Haze is a great one, no doubt. It also delivers great african effects and terpenes in a moderate flowering time and with great indoor adaptability, as you have experienced, Bangi Haze branching is quite flexible so she is indeed a great sativa hybrid for SCROGs.

The end of the grow is close and looks like is going to be a very successful one

Hey Everyone!


I wanted to share a quick review of this grow. I really enjoyed this room, and the genetics were a great break from the norm. The flavors and effects led to an amazing and positive start to my summer!


Bangi Haze 1 & 2

-These ladies were lovely to say the least. The slightly more citrusy #2 finished off with a fuel dankness that was not detectable before harvest. The #1 was larger in yield and bud size, but not by much. The uniformity is what is expected out of an inbred line, could have mixed them up and wouldn't be able to separate them easily. Awesome long buds that have a fuzzy "hairy" look until trimmed. I think they actually looked better after a aggressive mechanical trim! Surprisingly potent finished product for this ibl.


Congo


-My single phenotype looks pure sativa, with big loose delicate buds. It really turns purple, from the inside out, with dark green leafs sticking out. Really beautiful plant. The aroma is light but amazing, wood and kush notes. tastes like a walk in the forest!


Malawi 1 & 2


-Both phenos were very similar, with the #2 being more productive, with slightly less height. The aroma was light but very sweet, and floral. Sometimes would kinda smell like berries.
The effects were very strong and long lasting, with no drowsiness or sleepiness. really great work/day medicine. I noticed the dry buds strip off the stalk with little to no resistance. This must be a trait selected to save time when stripping and cobbing in the native production. literally strips the stem out of every bud up to about 1 cm from the tip!



Pure Africa

This plant really amazed me. Supposed to be a 13-16 wk sativa but my pheno grows more like a short skunk/indica cross. Short internode in flower with nice branching and an even canopy. Fat fan leaves really made it stand out among the sativas in the room. The potency on this plant is second to none! super frosty dense ripe buds at 10 wks. Actually flowering faster than my bubba kush indoors right now lol. A truly exceptional find out of a single fem seed! Makes me wonder if it is what it says it is, but its fire non the less and it has the coolest story behind it, being kenya landrace from the slopes of the Kilimanjaro. And they say the natives called it "Elephant Stomper" or "Elephat Flatener".
