Just Another Crappy Day in Paradise....Part 3

Leroy....Great questions...

Leroy....Great questions...

I could spend a day answering them.

Here they take the plants but seldom file charges. Hawaii has the lowest mj arrest rate in the nation. Sure, if you get stupid...they will bust you. Unless you are caught with the plants....they can't prove possession. Case dismissed. You will hear about the "big bust"....but you don't see many convictions. And you don't hear about the prosicuter dropping the case because it's a dog.

My season will go 8 to 10 months. Feb to Oct.

Axcess and security? Ten dogs own me. I do have a hard and fast rule. If you can steal my shit...God bless you. You earned it.
My dogs catch you? Too bad...you're on your own. And if you hurt my dogs....I'll happily shoot you. And I make my own rock salt loads too.

Now unfortunatly I live in one of the more humid parts of the island. Rot and mold are a fact of life. Last year was an El Nino year so we were very dry. My cane crop was a disaster. No water. But the house paid off in spades.

You will find out this about me. I tell all. Sucess or failure...I want people to learn from my mistakes. If I had my way everybody would have a few plants growing...and I will be ...not needed....extinct. If I don't cover it... ask.

Where I live has great soil. You just need to find it.

Here's a little taste of last year....said I wasn't going to do it...but I'm an attention whore.

^^^this kinda made me laugh, because it reminded me of a post some ignorant dude made a while back concerning going to hawaii to find seeds, and that he'd just strap a back pack on use his snifferr and head for the hills to procure seeds.... like nothing would happen to him hahahaha

i dont think peeps really know about the grabbers here... they may look sweet and homely, but shit, they bite a little.

Thanks too all on my way to 50...

Thanks too all on my way to 50...

You give me an excuse to post TYVM. :thank you:

Grey. The shovel is 5 ft. Someone asked me to give them something for scale...and I grabbed the nearest tool.

If I remember Weez sent me a link to that thread. That searcher was not playing with a full deck. At least he had to only buy a one way ticket here though, so he probably saved some cash....for his next of kin.

And no ...not many here have gone after a good size boar. I've done it twice. Besides I'd rather eat Bambi than pig. The dogs do almost all the work. Most of the mob that owns me are retired pig dogs. Most of the time they are big funny kids....til they get in the truck and turn on.

Weez... Thanks again for the welcome. Again. It seems where ever I go you have been there first. As far as I'm concerned nothing you can do will lessen the value...or lack thereof... of this thread. Post whatever you want to wherever it feels right.
My house is your house.

Grey...dont worry about pidgeon. Haoles can't pull it off....and when we try we just sound silly...Leave it to the experts.

Horseman....Rodney is tasty. Took one of those tiny plants, put it on the TV to dry fast and burned a small joint with my partner. He was impressed. wanted to know where it came from....

So I gave him the backstory. He's trying to shake some of those seeds out of me already. Rodney is still my wild card. And short of my Thai crosses...It handles the humidity pretty damn good.

We will see if we can scrape up some entertainment for you. And watch out for those dry cracked hands. They mess up your golf swing. You miss those short gimmies. Messes your head up. You should play here....where every putt goes straight to the bottom of the cup...everytime....can you say bullshit?

JoJo. I think you get more rain than me. What is killing me is the constant humidity. It never stops. Last year I got lucky.
My plants were ready, but I had three extra weeks of perfect weather. Real summer weather. hot baking sun...all day long.

Many that have lived here less than 10 years consided the dry weather "normal". It isn't. This year is more like the weather I remember from small kid days. It should make for an iffy house year, but a good cane crop.

I pulled all the seed moms. Also started the big switch over to long season. Almost all my holes are dug, way bigger than last year. I have a pallet of ff ocean mix comming tomorrow, and a few bales of sunshine mix too.

Still left to grab is bone and blood meal and of course my favorite ferts...Osmocote 14 14 14 time release. I'm going to need a lot of that.

Below are some pics of the mold and moms. I left them in very small pots, and bonsaied them. It is the easy way to have a wide variety of girls to cross.

That and I am just plain lazy too. I'm reaching. I know.

Let's Start Painting

Let's Start Painting

Growing conditions where I live are iffy. I live in the lee of a very big volcano. It takes an extra half hour for the sun to climb over the hill. So day starts a half hour late.

In a normal day, it starts with morning sun. By noon the clouds begin to form. By three we are under a blanket of clouds. We may also get an afternoon shower. Once the sun sets, the clouds drain off, but we quickly fall below the dew point, so everything remains wet all night.

The total difference between the longest and shortest day is 2 hours 20 minutes.

I would love to be able to buy seeds from the mainland, but if you do that they need to be planted late, and they ripen early. So first generation mainland strains seldom yield more than a lb a hole.

If you can put a couple of generations on them, they get used to our photoperiod. Then you can get them bigger. So I do all my breeding and crossing myself.

Decades ago, growers here discovered that southeastern Asian strains do very good here. They can take the humidity. And if you cross a clumpy local strain it is possible to get the best traits of both.

Last years strains were Bloodweed, White Widow, Strawberry Guava, and HB females crossed with a Black Thai male. These are Sativa Doms all the way. Indica Doms will just go off at three feet and early so forget about it.

Since I only have 7 holes, you must maximize yield out of every hole. The way I do this is by regrowing the girls. Plant in Febuary. Only Sativa Doms. Since our days are still short (but slowly getting longer) the plant buds. Now you can keep the girls, and the boys and fags will show themselves too. Get rid of them. Do this right, and every hole will have a proven girl in it.

In early May the top of the plants will have decent buds, but the bottoms stay in veg mode. Since the photoperiod is slowly getting longer the poor plant doesn't know weather to shit or go blind. Then I harvest the top.

The days are still getting longer, and the rest of the plant goes long. Try to leave 3 to 5 growing points behind. In the next 5 months each point becomes a tree. In the end you should wind up with many "trees" growing off a single trunk. They seldom get more than 10 ft tall, but they can get 10 ft wide.

Done right, with good weather you should yield between 3 to 5 lbs a hole. You can also do this on the mainland, by starting them early indoors, pulling a light harvest, then back to 18/6. Once it warms up outside...out they go.

There's a few more tricks I will show as this goes along. Most are simple tweaks...easy stuff. A couple are downright sneaky. Those I'm proud of.

Once again if I skip over something you want to know about ...ask. I can paint the big picture...but you guys and girls are going to do the details.

Back Attcha....

Back Attcha....

Smoke Trees...I like that name...Poke...lau lau...pork adobo...pateles... shoyu chicken...sashimi....Li he mui....spam musubi...Getting hungry yet?

This years Jack ...I got lucky there. A friend sent me 5 seeds from Holland....the whole 9 yards. Three of then got smashed. Of the two that made it one was a girl, and one was a boy.

This year I have a Kush/Jack strain, a Diesel/Jack, a HB/Jack and a Jack/Jack. Notice a common thread? That Jack male really got around.

I took the Jack girl a week or so back. She took a week of rain and was just starting to show mold spots. So Jack can take the humidity too. As soon as the board let's us put pics up I'll show you. You're right, I see a lot of potential there.

Kann...:thank you: If I miss anything....call me out. I often just use this log as a place to throw ideas out....To see what sticks, and what doesn't. I'm still learning too. If I'm talking stupid...please tell me.

Wiseone... I prefer to think of myself as being dragged... kicking and screaming....toward change. Case in point...New genitics this year.

You gotta do it...but you don't have to be happy about it.

From this old school fart....TYVM.
