I've never used it on a grow. Most people would tell you not to because of the chemical fertilizers in it. I do know that it can be done. I know someone who used MG. I would try and get something a bit more geared for cannabis if I were you though. I know it sucks, but you'll do better with something else. If its all you got though, its all you've got. Plants will grow in it.

Thanks for your quick reply! I was afraid that would be the answer-Im out at my parents helping with my pops who has Alzheimers, so I probably wont get to go out and look until Sunday or Monday-if I can find Fox Farms, what is another good organic one to use? Im sorry to keep bugging you but I want to plan and get this done RIGHT!!

Pro mix is pretty popular, and black gold, there are others though, just a good organic blend. Look for something with earthworms castings, kelp, forest humous, mychorizal fungus is great. Soils these days are usually peat moss based. Just whatever good organic soil. I always tell people not to spend a ton of money. When you're first learning the less the better because there is a good chance of messing up while you learn.

Week 7

Week 7



Week 7 is all but knocked out. This is what happened this week:

-After realizing the smell of these ladies was out ouf control I got rid of one. It was R3 who if you saw in the week 6 pics was a bit disheveled.

-The (R) plants are particular dank smelling. All of them smell a bit more then I would like. I may get rid of another one a bit early if I have to, but really they are finishing up. R1 is done with 7 weeks and starting week 8 tomorrow. R2 is also getting there but still a little further away.

-The (ShxR) plants are okay. Honestly I am not impressed with my cross. None of them have the trichs like the R plants have. They do have more to them though. Sh1 is the slowest of them, but is also the biggest producer. That girl has tons of calyxes pumpin out content. She got a little too tall and the tip of the bud burnt, I cut off the burned area and she is still trucking along. The small fry Sh3, I may chop her this week. Her and Sh2 both look pretty far along and I think they will be done soon.

I am back to plain water to finish the girls out. They may be done by the end of the week but at least some one or two will probably go longer. We'll see next week.

Midweek Update

Midweek Update

I've been checking trichs these last couple weeks, and 2 of these ladies are about done for. I wanted to get some pictures up because they may not even make it until Friday; That and who doesn't love bud and trich porn. I got some okay photos of the trichs this time.

I think Sh2 is going to get cut before then. For whatever reason she is maturing quicker. Trichomes are about all milky with an amber one here and there and a clear one here and there as well. I think I could chop today and be happy with her, but I will most likely give it one or two more days.






R1 is very close also, trichs are about 20%clear 80% milky. I want to give her one more watering before chop. She looks amazing you guys. She's is a skunky frosty beauty for sure. Since I've already sampled the (R) strain at an early cut, I know what to expect from her. That is some good bud you guys! I will most likely water her one more time tomorrow and chop on Friday.

Alright short and sweet this week. I chopped R1 today at day 56. The smell of her is amazing! That is going to be excellent bud. Sh2 got chopped yesterday. There's three girls left. Sh3 (the vertically challenged lady) is looking the closest, followed by R2 and then Sh1 that looks like it could go another two weeks or more. R2 is the new highlight, she's the three headed fimmed plant and is looking pretty nice. Not quite as good as R1 but there will be more of her. She is going to be the big yielder of the group. I think it'll go a minimum of another week maybe 2 weeks. I don't know because as R1 started getting ripe all the pistils receeded in a matter of 5 days. Pretty quick to that end product look.

I trimmed R1 down to nugs today and have it in a jar.
The rest of the girls are still going. I've continued to flush and pulled the large fan leaves. I wish I would have got a picture of R2 before I pulled them, she got really pretty for a few days, very light green fading to yellow. The other three girls are at the beginning of week 9 now. So far yield isn't impressive. just over 12g so far, but the biggest 2 plants are still up there. Its between R2 and Sh1 for biggest yielder. R2 being the three top plant, then Sh1 having the fattest bud out of the group. I'm expecting this to end up just under an oz. which will be a little disappointing, but I guess we'll see. If I get over the 28g mark I will be happy.

R3, the dwarf plant is still up there also. Her leaves ended up really waxy like there was too much N. I'm hoping todays flush pulls some of the green out of them. Its pretty close to being done now but I will drag it out until some of those leaves yellow a little, or at least dry out.. Probably Friday, the other two I will have to see in a few days to know how close they are.

Sup y'all. Been lurking for awhile but didn't know if I should start a thread.

I've been wanting to upgrade my cfl setup(170 W in a small cab H 2.5ft * W 2ft * Depth 1 ft)My last harvest was the best so far. Sticky , tasty and frosty. Some good genetics obviously.

I'm a personal grower. I'm looking to pull at least a zip off one plant. Maybe 2 max.

So I had been wanting to upgrade to 150W-250W HPS system. Or I can get an LED light 150W for 200$. Whatever I get I want to add some of my cfl for under and side lighting.

Haven't decided which way to go. Also I plan on expanding my cabinet for more room. Nothing hella big. Just maybe a few feet heightwise and maybe depthwise.

EBay has "400W, 250W,150W Dimmable Digital Ballast Cool Tube Relector MH HPS Grow Light System" Does this mean I can run a 150W HPS or 250W hps if I want too? Like is this a combo ballast or what?

Getting an ounce off a plant is possible even with CFL's man, you just have to grow a really big bush before you flower it. I don't know much about HID lighting, never used it. I'm still doing CFLs. You should ask in the grow room lighting thread

This bush was from my 3rd grow. I got 31g dry off her. That was the only plant I ran because it was so big but 125w of CFLs got me there. I topped it twice and tied all the braches out. I think I vegged her 8 or 9 weeks. That was a really fun bush to grow. The strain you use will also make or break your yield.

This Thread is also really cool. The grower has a perpetual grow where he harvest an oz. or 2 a week with CFLs. Definitely worth checking out.

I'll get to the HID lights someday, you would definitely get a lot more out of the grow with them.

CFL's can do something man. It isn't ever going to get you pounds but for a personal grow they work fine. I am sure enjoying my work right now. I'm glad you like what I've done.:woohoo:

So I have smoked some of both strains now. Enough to give you guys a smoke report.

R- Okay this has to be either sour diesel or something with it in its lineage. Smoking it, I have definitely smoked that before. The plant itself had a sour skunky smell. When smoked The sour is the first thing you taste with a slight fuel taste and a sweetness almost like blueberry on the exhale. Very cerebral and hits you a lot like a punch to the face. You feel the high in your eyes and temples. It had a nice up high with no lethargy. It is definitely some get stuff done type of weed, but it's also mind numbing, good for turning your mind off if that makes sense. Prepare to raid the refrigerator.

ShxR 2 - This one is definitely a sleepy smoke. It doesn't make for good day time bud. It makes you want to find a couch and something on TV. Smoking it, you do taste the sour and also a kind of kushy taste. The high is very facial especially in the forehead, and more on the creative side, but it does make you want a nap.

I think especially the crosses will all be a bit different. I'm not really looking forward to the dwarf plant, but it is just like its mom really. Then Sh1 is kind of different all together. She has a really fat top, a considerable amount bigger that anything else. She's loaded with calyxes. She is definitely not the frostiest one but I will get a decent amount off her. I don't know what to expect from her smoke, but I think it will be a more true cross between the two. R2 might end up being my favorite. This one has been really fun no matter what. It's so nice to smoke on homegrown buds, especially when its good. Man the bud from R1 tastes and smells great. I suppose I am going to have to name it something... Still working that out in my head. I know that I am getting a good idea of which pheno's to look for when I go to make seed.

Alright sorry no pictures today, I will snap a couple tomorrow or Sunday. I chopped Sh1 and Sh3 today. I wish the leaves on Sh3 would've lightened up a little more but when I chopped that were lightening. The little dwarf plant will probably need a longer cure to get the harshness out. Sh1 cola isn't that tall, but man is it fat compared to the rest, twice the size maybe. I gave R2 one more good flush today will be chopping on Tuesday I believe.

Okay I tried to snap some pictures of the drying buds but I couldn't get a decent one. My camera really isn't very good. I at least snapped a quick picture of R2. Her buds are nice and swollen and she is finishing up. I did pull all the fans last week so she's a bit naked.



In just a few days this grow is gonna be over. Honestly I am ready for a break. I think I should get to that 28g mark. Sh1 feels pretty damn heavy. Still, theres a lot of drying to go but I think that one will be about 6 grams and I think R2 will be 6 or 7. I might be being a little optimistic. We'll see soon I guess.
