No problem Frank.
"RC" is a member here who is growing the Hawaiian Sativa in the tropics. You should be able to find the thread in the strains sub-forum.
I found it on page 2, way at the bottom in the strains and breeding area

sorry to sidetrack but i cannot pm so i gotta stalk you abit
but would you mind telling me what happened to the Hawaiian Sativa?
i saw you were after it since like 2012 xD
and some guy had made a report and open pollinated his beans but didnt wanna share them

and some other guy had some beans and you thanked him for passing those "to RC", but im kind of a noob and dont know what that means?! :p
would you mind clarifiying , and sorry for for sidetracking your topic lean green , your plants look wonderful, i your tests will be successful (i was just too curious about the other topic so i couldnt stop myself from asking)

Frank the first repro you are speaking of was kept private do to restrictions being put on the gifted beans. RC Colas Hawaiian repro is under way from beans he was gifted but it is still in veg phase and has a long way to go. I still haven't scored any pure FedHawaiian myself but did recently score some F3 FedHawaiian x Swt#3 in a bean exchange. The Hawaiian dom plants were selected for the incross.

Great news Lean Green :) Hopefully you can also find a good male, i know you usually like to make seeds with your own plants.

One male has shown and another female. I imagine that all of them will show sex by the weekend and I'll transplant then. Now I need to get my other light fixed or move one from the veg room.

So, I ended up with 2 males and the rest are females.

Here are the boys, both are the same age and grown under the same conditions. The one on the left got transplanted because I thought for sure it would be a girl, I was wrong.

And a shot of a few of the girls. I'll post more pics of the girls soon.

A few more from about a week or so back. Just trying to show their structure a little more.

This girl is as wide as she is tall and the only plant in the group to grow this tall. She is the largest of all and I'm lucky she is. Otherwise my room would be crazy overgrown. The other half is full of plants that are trying to grow through the lights!

Thanks for the updates Lean Green :) and for showing clearly their structure.

Their strong stretching and branching are VERY much on the ethiopian side.
Ethiopian has really strong stretching and long nodes indoors like your plants, curiously not so much when grown outdoors with strong light intensity.

Do you plan to pollinate them in this cycle or do you want to test them sinsemilla first ?

Is my pleasure Dubi!
I saved one male of the two. It is the most compact plant of them all but has heavy branching. I stuck him outside and I'm waiting for the flowers to open now. They where close to opening when I stuck him outside, so the long days won't mater.

I'll get some new pics up soon of the new flowers.

What's the verdict LG? Does it seem like the same Congo that you've worked in the deep Congo line? I asked at ace but didn't get a straight answer, I think it was a translation issue.

Still too early for me to tell much about their aromas. The plant closest to the door in my room has a generic woody scent to the trichs that most sativas have to some degree. Flowers are forming up nicely this past week, so more details about the scents to come should be revealed soon.

Plants are done and harvested. I had some intersex issues with the majority of them, a couple of timer malfunctions didn't help. One of the females stood out from the rest. She had no nanners pop out and just so happens that is the one I had chosen to pollinate.

I have not smoked much of it yet, but I did cob cure the lower buds for a traditional African type product.

Hi Lean Green,

I'm super thankful that you have posted pics of the Congo 3 x Ethiopian F1 regular hybrid. :thank you:
I think you are one of the very few persons that has tested and finished this new hybrid.

The outcome of your grow is really impressive, looks like the hybrid is mainly dominated by the ethiopian, but i also can see lots of hybrid vigor in this F1.

I'm sorry to hear that some plants showed intersex problems, but i think this is quite normal when working with direct crosses of landraces at P1 and P2 generation, the parental plants used in the cross are still very close to their original landrace genepool which has been grown only outdoors for many generations, but not indoors, another thing that could induce the intersex problems are the erratic indoor photoperiods.

Was the problem serious ? I mean, Did they produced a few bananas in late flowering ? if that's the case, were they fertile ? Or some of the females produced full developed male flowers ?

Hi Dubi, all the plants were similar except for the one in the last 2 pics in post #35. I assume it leans more to the Congo side.
The intersex was not too much of a problem, I knew to be on the look out and caught the flowers before too much pollen flew. One plant threw male flowers on its own and the others did not until weeks later when the timer malfunctioned.

The plant I made F2s with did not have any male parts show up and I think the male was the same pheno type.

Here is a pic of some buds and cob.

Chewing the cobs is an awesome high of energetic bliss! These are all made with the lower buds.

Hi Lean Green,

I'm glad to hear you are already enjoying the energetic effects of the new Congo # 3 x Ethiopian regular F1 hybrid :)

The the one in the last 2 pics in post #35 looks more ethiopian influenced, but chunkier thanks to the hybrid vigor, excellent flower/leaf ratio as well
I'm glad to see you are already following Tangwena's african curing method :D
