PPK - 9 plants per light - too much?

I know D9 used to do only 1 plant per light, and many people do that or maybe 4 at most from what I've gathered. I'm considering trying 9 plants in 2 gallon buckets per 1 1000w DE light.

The reason for this is that I have a short veg time at 4 weeks, so I won't be able to grow out big in veg. Aside from that reason my buddy is hitting 3.5 lbs per light in a flood and drain in buckets system, doing 9 plants per light, and I want to see if PPK can compete with that.

But I'm wondering if anyone has done this, and what the limitations and admonitions there might be?

Why wouldn't it be possible?
