First timer at defoliation & training. Am I doing it right?

After reading the the "defoliation" thread I thought Id give it a try.
But still unsure of how to go about it. So im going to need a little help from the community.

Week 6 of veg.
So far Ive fimmed the top colas of these two wifis & have pinched & bent the stems so they grow outwards.
Also Ive slightly defoliated leaves which were covering the shoots but will give them a heavier trim later in veg.
Hopefully ive not caused them to be stunted.

What do you guys/gals think?

Looks really good. I can never bring myself to snap/bend the stems. I'm always afraid they wont come back or respond well. But in veg it's really hard to fuck up a plant. I like to look at them from a few angles, and then take leaves that are blocking light from shoots underneath. I love to train my plants in veg. Mostly for the fact that i take clones like a madman, and short bushy plants work well for me. I always gotta have lots of choices to throw into my grow. If you really wanna see them bush out, throw a vertical bare bulb next to them.

Looks fine to me.

Thanks pal.
looks great. :trampoline: keep it up..

Will do.

If using cfl's u should keep em just 2 inches above the tops. GL

Theyre under cfls at the moment approximately 4-5 inches away.
Ill be using 400W mh next week.

This is my first time training in veg so I really hope I can pull more buddage come flower.

Don't forget that you can continue to train into the flower period.

Thanks socialist, Ive been bending & pinching in flower in my previous grows & have found a slight increase in final weight. But to be honest in this grow it feels like in im using a combination of techniques LSTing, FIMming, bending pinching I guess maximum training equals to maximum buddage time will tell.

Nice work and ya got the makings of a great thread/topic here...

IMO with such a short canopy ya shouldnt pick the fans in VEG at all.
Veg picking of fans seem to only be advised when the fans cover the lower growth beyond accepted levels.

Once stretch is over in flowering -depending on how often ya feed and genetics-
Fans (anything with a stem) can be pulled over a 10 day period.
Opening lower buds to light and reducing fluff..

This being my understanding of how best to approach defoliating.

I've done a little testing myself this year and believe the lady I picked while in veg was stunted and the ladies I left till after stretch are chunky..

I've also bent and traind well into flowering and have seen no harm to most.
Again IMO strain dependent..

Just my 2Cents..

Keep up the good work bro...
