Interesting concept, however beware of this:
Users contribute to the network by giving bandwidth and a portion of their hard drive (called the "data store") for storing files.

In other words, your computer will be open to the system and data will be placed on your computer, and people you don't know will access it, using your bandwidth.

You won't even know what's on your computer because it will be encrypted. So porn, copyrighted material, incriminating stuff can all be hosted by you, and you won't be able to do anything about it.

And if that system gets hacked in some way, everyone in it could be at risk...

Just sayin...

Actually the sharing of files in this manner was the norm a decade ago.

It is still popular for illegally downloading copyrighted files.

Remember the music sharing sites?

They all got shutdown eventually.

And the music companies went after many people who shared their music with others.

They considered them pirates and many were prosecuted and fined.

And that was just for MUSIC. Imagine if you have no control over what is placed on your computer and who downloads it...

Today that is considered one of the least secure things to do (among those who care about their privacy and security).

Also ppl should consider this...

Nearly every secure protocol in common use today was designed by the NSA (or DARPA probably).

So tread carefully with any company that claims to be secure from spying.

I'm not even sure how you could confirm such a claim.
