Epstein's attorneys have said the charges will not stick because Epstein is protected by the terms of the 2008 plea agreement. Under the terms of that deal, Epstein served 13 months in jail, was required to reach financial settlements with dozens of his alleged victims and registered as a sex offender.

Jeffrey Epstein, the millionaire financier who is being held on federal sex trafficking charges, was found injured and in a fetal position in his cell at a New York City jail, sources close to the investigation told NBC News on Wednesday night.
Epstein, 66, was found semiconscious with marks on his neck in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan some time in the last two days, the sources said. Epstein is on suicide watch, two sources said.
While the two sources said that Epstein may have tried to hang himself, a third source cautioned that the injuries weren't serious, questioning whether Epstein might have staged an attack or a suicide attempt to get a transfer to another facility.
Another source said that an assault hadn't been ruled out and that another inmate, identified by sources as Nicholas Tartaglione, had been questioned.
Tartaglione, 49, is a former police officer in Briarcliff Manor, New York, who was arrested in December 2016 and accused of killing four men in an alleged cocaine distribution conspiracy, then burying their bodies in his yard in Otisville, according to court records. He was charged with drug conspiracy and four counts of murder and is awaiting trial.
Sources said Tartaglione claimed not to have seen anything and not to have touched Epstein.
An attorney for Tartaglione denied that his client attacked Epstein, saying that Tartaglione and Epstein got along well and that Epstein appeared to be fine Wednesday.
Attorneys for Epstein didn't immediately return calls for comment. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons didn't return calls, and spokespersons for the U.S. Marshals and U.S. attorney's office declined to comment.

It appears that most of the "Oh no, they are trying to kill him" folks have never spent any time in the felony wing.
This is actually a good thing, jail messes with the mind.
Pervs usually end up having severe problems from other inmates, but not always.
He would not have woken up with bruises if persons with authority had wanted him dead. He would be dead, this is not TV.
As long as a perv is president the citizens that condone the behavior are just as guilty. Should our president be in jail? Should our president be shot as an example?
Negative, it s business as usual as the empire crumbles.
I remember the Roman Empire in its last days.

the news article reported he was semi-conscious on the cell floor with 'marks on his neck.' no mention of a rope, a bedsheet, four socks tied together on the bars... nothing.
let's face it folks, if he'd tried to hang himself, he'd either still be hanging there or would have bailed out and they would have found him twiddling his thumbs when they did a bed check...so there's no innocuous explanation for 'marks on his neck.'

he is in a cell with an ex-cop that is serving life for several murders if i'm not mistaken. no one came in with keys & did jack-shit. the marks on his neck mean his cellmate choked him out & left him lying on the floor. this is NOT the "loony-tunes conspiracy thread'...

I'm sure that they are writing the screenplay right now - and someone will make a real scuzzy action movie/series out of it all - but its still early days on this one - imagine what Epstein might have on some of the worlds top movers and shakers - stuff that they hope never see's the light.
