Not sure if you guys were aware but Method Seven released their LED specific glasses.

I have the Blackdog branded ones. They come in a hardshell case and a Blackdog LED soft bag.

Holy crap those are expensive! I got a pair of 'Lumii Growroom Glasses' (which do the exact same thing) for about $15 off Ebay.

Nice glasses. Hope they last you a long time. I think they are made in Italy where most eye-wear frames are made. They do over-charge for the glasses.

$79. not that expensive.. your eyes are worth more..these things should be SOP for LED grow areas..

your eyesight is 'PRICELESS'!

79 bucks is nothing to invest, compared to the future cost of a good pair of glasses or eventually laser eye surgery.

thanks for making the links :tiphat:

compliments on the photography 'one shot'

If I had to guess I'd say that these green safety glasses would do the same thing....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Green-Safet...se-For-Red-Orange-Laser-Pointer/261442242232?

"Protection Wavelength: from 600nm to 750nm"

or

I just ordered a pair of these for $7.50, I'll let you know how they go, maybe even take some photos through the lenses.

They market things to our application of their product... growing weed under an LED: $75, playing with a laser: $7.50

IDK bout $7.50 vs $79... I remember buying the $99 cool tube. yes it worked but it was flimsy as hell... BUT! PLEASE.. let us know how they do.. take those pics thru the lens...
I'd be happy to spend $7.50 instead of $79.

like Harbor Freight, they sell cheap tools and accessories. they get the job done but aren't engineered to 'exact' specs of the same tool from... say, Snap-On.:tiphat:

safety glasses are manufactured to certain quality standards. Different shades allow different light levels, I believe shade 3 lets 55% visible light whereas shade 5 allows 2%, but don't quote me on that.

I have both the OP glasses and the clip ons from the same company. Others may work as well and may not IDK. But these work and are great

I did not know that LED damages the eyesight... Might buy one too!
Does anyone have an article proofing that it actually damages eyesight? sounds strange to me

If you really need an article to belive high intensity light sources damage the eye.. here it is, 1 of them. also, google has millions of results on the matter if you want more.. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3144654/

I can't say if it's bad for the eyes to have bright light sources in the room, but it is for sure stressful for them, especially if it's a light with mostly red spectrum. And blue leds don't even need to look bright to be dangerous. And just because long time exposure can be dangerous even if lights are not very powerful, I would not take my chances. At least, wear some good sunglasses when in same room with your opened growtent.

These glasses really cut down the blue quite a bit. Turns the light to a softer yellow-red color. I had the camera set to manual to keep the settings the same for all photos. They have more of a red tint in the photos than in person, especially around the white parts its obvious.
