I've got lot's of stoned mouse stories spanning fourty years, and no animals were harmed in the process.
Recently, I took the opportunity of a lull in winter snow storms to deposit a trashcan of trimmings in the yard to "Compost". Spring thaw revealed nary a leaf left, but the spot was a locus for a crazy amount of sub-snow gopher tunnels. Evidently a legendary winter for the little locals...
