the other pannel design, imho, was better :p
but as long as it work ... nice work ROasty

Thanks jikko77!
I like the other design better too. I had always planned on adding to this one. Had too much gap between cobs before. Not sure if cree 3590's chip holers fit in the angle aluminium gap with the heatsinks i use. Thats why I put them on my first frame.
Looks like the mother ship of an invading species. Lol.

Thank you for the tutorial. I am thinking of taking the cob plunge. I am gathering a parts list.

You mentioned 250 watt drivers. Do you have a link for the drivers you recommend?

Also there was mention of a new light from vero, is it out yet?

Thank you for your help

Really the driver depends on your grow space. If you have limited height then drive softer (700-1050mA). If you can hang em high, then higher current (1400-2100mA). Or go big and dim like i do. Look for HLG-240H-CxxxxB, the x's are the current you want.
New vero's were supposed to release in June, but idk if you can get them yet.

I use an APV-12-12 to drive up to 4 pc fans.

Thank you for the reply. I ordered everything and will be building one of these.

Thank you for the help and the tutorial.

Roasty she is up and running. I actually did mine 10" and 24 long and put all 6 on that frame.

She is so much brighter than the blurple LED I had going. Amazing my friend. Thank you for the tutorial.

My question is she will go really bright. How high do you put it for veg with 3500k spectrum? And how close? When on full blast those LED can put out some heat under them.

Let Me know

Thanks man

Somehow missed this last post, sorry. I was driving at 50% and kept lights about 16" from tops of plants. Yes they are powerful, be careful not to bleach your girls. I only used 3 cobs for veg so you may need to dim more with 6, or raise lights higher. Glad you got yours running.

4 vero 29 36.8V (BXRC-35E10K0-L-23)

im trying to get 400 watts
what does the difference in mA mean with HLG-185H-C700A vs HLG-185H-C1400A

if i get one per two lights will that be 400 watts?

No, neither of those unit's will get you 400W out of just 4 x Vero29s, to get 100W per Vero29 at 36.8v you would need 100/36.8 = 2,700mA and probably have a cooling problem.

Most people would only drive a Vero 29 at around 50W, which the HLG-185H-C1400A can do 4 at once nicely.

If you really need around 400W, then use 8 x Vero 29s and 2 x HLG-185H-C1400A

ok i think i understand now, can you check my math on this;

how about i run (two) the 2.1 with 4 vero29? that would be 77.28w each and give me 309.12 watts? is that too much for each light? i see on the website all the stats given for the vero29 were tested during 2.1 amps
HLG-240H-C2100A or ELG-150-C2100A

this would be more realistic for my area anyway

thanks

How are you going to cool 77Watts per COB?

(there is no edit feature on here)

i think i would need the HLG-240H-C2100A as the other is 6pin if i understand correctly.

*the only question i have is the HLG-240H-C2100A say 249.9 watts. but is that just the MAX so if i run 4 vero29s with two HLG-240H-C2100A it will be 309.12 watts MAX? thanks

i got my information from another site so i dont know how credible it is

(about vero29)

"The nominal power is 81W. It can be driven up to 173W but this is not advisable (cooling becomes harder, efficiency & lifetime drops). It's best to stick around the 81W."

How much space are you lighting ck?

I have only been using around 120w on my 3 cob vero 29's (~1100mA) so you don't have to drive that hard. Makes more sense to use more cobs at a lower current.
