Hey!! Help a noob? (First grow...)

Good evening :)

I hope someone can help, this is my first ever attempt at growing, I’m in a 1mx1mx2m tent with 600w hps, bought it cheap of a friend, already had to switch to digital ballast as the noise from the magnetic one was driving me crazy!!

I’m also growing with canna gold 60/40. And I’m having the start of some problems... I have been using cal mag and coco grow and phing down my tap water to 5.8-6, I think I may have overdone the nutes and created lock out and now some of my plants are showing signs of damage (pics below), I have checked my runoff (I’m just too feeding by hand and letting it soak up the run off — I’ve stopped that now as I’m wondering if I’ve over watered and locked the poor things out) and my runoff ph came out at a whopping 7.4!! So.... I’ve flushed through with just phd down water to try to lower it, should I now leave it to dry out before flushing again and then start back on the nutes? I’m confused and seem to be finding conflicting info online!

I'd suggest a good flush and don't ever let em suck up the run off

Aim for 20% run off but in my coco experiment lately I been shooting for about 50%

Also don't let the pots sit on the floor or ever in stagnant water it never helps

Also if you are gonna pot them up get some rhizopots

When I make a mistake, it's typically run 2-3 times the container size worth of plain tap water then a feed at about 50% strength, you should be seeing the same amount of water getting pushed out the bottom of the container as the amount of nutrient being added in. Then let it dry till kinda light by weight, but should still look damp. Then just start up feeding again as usual.

I tend to do that over a big bucket or something that holds water so I can guesstimate at amounts.

Flushing is really just washing excess salts/nutrients/buildup of whatever, out of your medium. I think you can do that all in one go and not wait for it to dry. A little bit of h2o2 in your nutrient water might be a good idea when doing that half strength feeding.

Yeah lesson learnt on that one, I’m gonna go for an ebb and flow system on my next grow should I do ok outta this one, I’m amazed at how quick they have come on already - day 26 from seed... and yes rhizopots, need to look into those! Thanks for the advice :)

That’s pretty much what I did minus the feed, I’m just waiting on it to not be so wet and then I’ll start over with the feeding and see how it goes :) thank you :)

Yes I’ve now purchased a Wilma system for my next shot, as for my plants, the auto has come on leaps and bounds, like a giant Xmas tree with mainly buds, 10 days left although it may be a little longer :) can’t wait to flower the photos and then set up the Wilma! Thanks for the advice :)
