Dutch pilot experiment: LEGALLY growing organic female hemp flowers high in CBD

No we didnt manage to cull all the males !!
We are also looking at producing feminised Finola seeds for next year ( indoor grow) to eleviate the above problem with the males.
Harvest will be done with a cutter on the tractor, all green materials stripped from the plant, some will be juiced and frozen immediatly, the other will be dried, and oil produced (alcohol extraction technique)
Pictures to follow..

Thanks for sharing Karl. I have some questions though.
- How come you didn't manage to cull all the males?
- Is growing hemp indoor legal in uk? It's not legal in Netherlands
- What machinery are you using to strip the green parts of the plants?
- At what temperature are you drying the plant material?
- Do you perform any intermeditate steps or are you using alcohol directly on all the dried plant material

DunAgro, the biggest hemp processer in the Netherlands with 1340 hectares this year. They use a modified Shelbourne stripper header.

Standard Shelbourne Stripper header

8 rows stainless steel fingers, 450 - 750 RPM.

There are different type of blades for stripping.

By the looks of it it is the Shelbourne CVS 20 - see type number to the top left of the machine.

You can see the blades of the machine at the beginning of the video. Look like long thin blades without holes at the end.

Here you can see the blades really clear with indeed opening at the point where the blades join together.

This looks like the first model.

Hi all!!
Very interesting thread! :D

I'm looking for how to extract Cbd from Futura75 in artigianal way, grown in south Italy.
Maybe waterhash or drysift for start and then dissolve it in ethanol, seems to be the better way to extract Cbd.

See u soon!

Interesting, how many hectares do you have? Are you seperating leafs from stems? Are you drying your plants? if so how?

Out of the two options you give I'd go for the waterhash route with >fresh< flowers and leaves. Fresh will give less green leaf matter in your hash making the extract less green (chlorophyl). But you'll have to use a big tumbler or such, using just regular 5 gallon bubblebags is going to be very time and cost inefficient I'm afraid. The downside with waterhash is that you have to filter loads of water (say 500-1000 liters) through a 25 micron filter. So you have to make a big filter area. For around 12 dolars you can order 25 micron nylon mesh screen (1 square meter) from Alie-express. So cost wise it's very doable. I'd say first filter 250 micron to take out the rough parts, then filter though 160 micron. And use everything between 160 to 25 micron for making your ethanol extract. Be sure to dry your hash first though :) Keep us posted.

Just had HPLC results back................
0.08% THC & 8.91% CBD on our 1st attempt without specialist lab equipment.
Alcohol extraction, and filtered through 10 microns, distilled at 80 degrees (retained alcohol), then taken down slowlyuntil only oil left.
Next time we are investing in Rotary Evaporation equipment, so we have more control over THC levels.

Very interesting thread - we have been growing Futura for fibre and CBD in the UK with mixed results. We had around 3.54% cbd and less than 0.2% THC in our first year, but have had a much lower yield this year. Now looking for alternative seed options. Could finola possibly give a better yield?

It would be easy to feminize FINOLA to get all female seeds and it would still be legal FINOLA. In the EU you must seed hemp crops to get the EU subsidy.

I've been looking for this answer for a couple months! It hasn't been clear feminiziation is of even EU-approved seeds is permitted. I supposed you provide regulators with the certified labels you received with the original purpose.

Is there any documentation you've found supporting this?
