Cops: Hospital Guard Had Sex With Corpse

Dead woman, 79, was inside morgue freezer

NOVEMBER 29--A hospital security guard had sex with a 79-year-old woman’s corpse, according to Arizona cops who allege the crime took place inside a morgue freezer last month.

Investigators yesterday arrested Randall Bird, 46, on multiple counts of crimes against a dead person, a felony. Until his recent firing, Bird worked at
aarandallbird23.jpg
Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, where he was responsible for transporting bodies to the hospital morgue.

Cops allege that is where Bird, seen at right, abused the corpse of an elderly woman which had been inside a body bag, according to a probable cause statement.

Investigators say two witnesses reported spotting Bird inside the morgue freezer around 5:30 AM “sweating profusely” and “acting very nervous” on October 24. Additionally, Bird’s zipper was "wide open," his uniform was disheveled, and his belt was atop a gurney "where a bagged deceased body was placed."

The morgue doors had been locked from the inside, cops noted.

The body bag which held victim had been "completely unzipped open," and the corpse was face down and "the victim's hospital gown had been rolled up above her belly button area, exposing her naked body from the waist down."

When the witnesses entered the morgue, they told police, Bird (seen above) sought to cover up the dead woman’s body by pulling down her gown.

Seen above, Bird claimed to have had a medical episode while inside the freezer and could not recall what had transpired afterwards.

However, cops say, Bird’s DNA was found on the corpse of the woman, who had died of natural causes. Post-mortem rib fractures were also detected on the victim’s body.

Bird, who is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next month, is free on supervised release until that court appearance.

A hospital spokesperson said that coworkers had “identified and reported concerning behavior of an employee in the hospital morgue,” which prompted an internal investigation, the filing of a report with law enforcement, and the firing of Bird.

Woman who hijacked Uber driver's car has previous violations

Public records show she has 11 traffic violations from Orange County, California, dating from 2015-21. She was found guilty of all of them except one.

AUSTIN, Texas - A California woman was arrested after police said she stole her Austin Uber driver's car because she claimed the driver was driving too slow.

According to the arrest affidavit, on Dec. 10, around 12:28 a.m., an Uber driver picked up 27-year-old Neusha Afkami from a hotel to take her to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. On the way, the Uber driver said Afkami appeared upset due to how long it was going to take to get to the airport.

While driving, the Uber driver had her phone in hand. Afkami took the phone and threw it out of the window. This prompted the driver to stop the car and exit to get her phone.

As the driver was out of the car, Afkami got in the driver's seat and drove off, leaving the Uber driver stranded alongside the ramp on E Cesar Chavez going to Airport Blvd.

Officers working at the airport got the information, and found the Uber driver's car abandoned in front of a terminal.

Before Afkami could board the plane, she was found by police. When questioned, Afkami said she and the Uber driver were arguing over how long the drive was going to take. She told the Uber driver, "I need to get to the airport, so I'm going to take your car and drop it off at Southwest Airlines."

It was also noted that Afkami stole the Uber driver's wallet and used a credit card for several items at a store inside the airport. According to the affidavit, Afkami spent about $120 on items that were all found in her possession, including a shot glass and candy.

Afkami was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Austin woman hijacks Uber driver's car

A woman was arrested after police said she stole her Uber driver's car because she claimed the driver was driving too slow.
This incident prompted a warning from an attorney about the dangers of rideshares.

Attorney Quentin Brogdon said since 2015, he has received calls about scary situations involving rideshares.
"It's a pleasant fiction to think it's just the evolution of getting into a taxi. The problem is, it is very, very different. It is not a safe industry, in my opinion, for either the drivers or the passengers," Brogdon said.

He said the rideshare companies don’t take the appropriate steps to ensure both parties are safe.
"None of us would want to be paired with a violent criminal in a car late at night, but that's what often, too often happens with these rideshare companies," Brogdon said.
Uber said they are committed to continually improving the safety of the platform for all who use it. Uber’s 2019-20 safety report states 99% of all Uber rides are completed without incident, but 20 people were killed in assaults. Brogdon said the industry has the resources to fingerprint their drivers and enhance the safety measures for drivers against passengers, but they aren’t.
"They need to be held accountable by legislators and by jurors," Brogdon said.

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - An Alaska Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport on Friday night after a large section of the aircraft blew out in mid-air, according to several passengers.
Dramatic photos sent to us by one passenger on the plane, who wished to remain anonymous, show a large section of the airplane’s fuselage missing.

At 7:26 p.m. (PST) Alaska Airlines posted on X/Twitter that they were “aware of an incident” aboard their flight AS1282 and said they would release more information as it becomes available. Alaska confirmed to KPTV via email that 174 passengers and 6 crew members were aboard the flight.

The flight was headed from PDX to Ontario, California. It departed Portland at 4:40 p.m. and was back on the ground in Portland around 5:30 p.m.

One passenger we talked to at the airport said that a kid had to be held in his seat by his mom and people lost their phones which were sucked out of the plane.
That same child closest to the damaged part of the plane lost his shirt due to the violent and sudden depressurization but otherwise everyone on board appeared to be OK, according to a passenger.

According to the Port of Portland, the fire department responded to the plane after it landed and treated minor injuries. There was one person taken from the scene for additional medical treatment. No serious injuries were reported.
Several people on board the flight, who wished not to be named, reported to us that the airplane’s oxygen masks deployed immediately after the depressurization, and multiple people used the masks as they waited for the plane to land at PDX.

A passenger named Diego Murillo told KPTV that Alaska Airlines rebooked them on an 11 p.m. flight out of PDX. But otherwise the airline had not told him anything about the incident.

Murillo said he and his family were preparing to reach their final destination around 2 a.m. Saturday.
