One for the newbs: cheap and simple hydro, but very effective

dont understand. is the plant fed with a drip from the top? or are the roots just dangling into the water and the pump is just for circulation?

the pump is for aeration of the H2O so your roots have oxygen to grow. The roots are just dangling in the water, when they grow bigger there will be some roots above water and some below (soaking) in the DWC.

It is really easy and simple, cheap and I have found it easier then soil and way way more effective. (so much more crystal production)

Handy thread
I've been thinking about setting up a personal grow for a while now,
and being my first time I've been debating whether to use soil or go hydro,
but after reading this thread and seeing some of the pictures,
I am definitely going hydro.
I'm not sure how it works elsewhere but here in Ontario anything over three plants and the government can take your house. Definitely safer to have fewer plants with better production, and who can argue with 90g from one plant?

thanks doc. you helped me regain my passion for growing big sticky bud, i have had a few failed attempts at growing in soil (only to have some munter mess it up) but this time im going to use your method, my mini air compressor showed up yesterday and ive made my bubble cloner now ive just gotta take some cuttings form the plants i have in soil and then stick em in my 4 bucket DWC system that you taught me how to build.

Won't the temp of the nutes go really high with the lights on and all in that small of a rez. I have had problems with temps in much larger rez than that

Hydromaniac if your growroom is built well enough then temps wont get higher than what ever you want, lights on or off, I keep it at 24c in the plant tops and down on the floor its usually 3-4c lower because thats where the fresh air comes, peace...
This be a old pair of pics, Chronic in a small bucket (12L bucket 6L nutes 1 big airstone)

DWC rocks!

RK- Wal-Mart...$10. Sporting goods/boat accessories isle. It's hella quiet, the motor is double walled, and does not have any effect on the temp of the solution. Easy maintenance too should things get gunky during trials.
It will though need a AC/DC converter. Which, if you've any extra cords that charge rechargeables...ie, cell phone, electric razor...snip and splice and you're all set. (having that handy at home keeps costs down!)
