Oh yeah verdant ! They stank ! A bit fruitier than I expected, very similar to the Ox which I believe to be katsu leaning. Just starting to develop those secondary aromas and more complex terpenes . will get pics tonight

Day 43

Day 43

The ladies are looking nice at 43 days in , all 5 phenos are easy to differentiate between each other. I really like the looks of #2 right now ! Very nice structure. #6 is slightly more airy but frosty as hell, #5 has dense buds but not as large as #1 or 6. #4 looks the most like the ox , and has an excellent leaf to calyx ratio but is more stringy than I would like .to me #2 looks most pre 98 like , but I'm no expert. I'm guessing the #6 is a more katsu leaning example. I'm hoping they finish at around 65 days ,but I won't pick til the trichomes look perfect. Here is # 1 ,2 and a close up of #4

Fiddy daze

Fiddy daze

A little late on my update , . these are the bubba ladies at 50 days. The #4 (in clone) will most likely get culled , the rest are still really rough to pick from. Even choosing two will be nearly impossible. I think I'm still learning toward the #2 , for how close to verdants pre 98 it looks. Here is the #1 at 50 days, you can really see the effect of the broad mites now :cry:and the #2 with a close-up at 43 days.

Here is the #4 , 5 and 6 phenos ,again the #4 is at 43 days and the other two are now 50 days into flower, a nice slightly berry aroma dominates the nose at this point.

Yeah verdant, the leaves are taking a beating .I will get another round of pics tonight. Buds look fire , especially #2. I don't think the mites got to it much since it went In a week later. I am guessing harvest is about a week out

Here are the pics of the 5 bubba phenos at day 57. Here is the 1 and 2 phenos. I really like the 2 . looks like a more pre 98 leaner. But all phenos are a bit sweet and perfumed smelling as compared to the hash and coffee earthiness of the pre 98. I love the smell of this herb all the way. Really unique.

The 4 and 5 phenos . the 4 is only 50 days in this pic . while the 5 is 57 days in. The 5 is also like the 2 a bit more pre 98 leaning in structure with nice flat top buds and some purple. Also note in the previous pic that the #2 pheno is also at 50 days in ,while the #1 is at 57

thanks mtn, it sounds like your phenos are all leaning towards the katsu side with their terpenes. the one female i got from stash's katsu seeds was very perfumed smelling, quite a unique lovely smell, but like you say different to the pre-98 bubba funk. vitgreen got a pre-98 smelling pheno out of 2 girls so both sides are defo represented in the seeds.

Verdant I chopped down the 1,5 and 6 phenos last night @ 69 days . the 5 was not quite as dense as it appeared. The buds are all fairly chunky though. And I would say all of these 3 phenos were way katsu leaning. Very perfumed. I think that's why the cross I made of flo x ox works so well... That perfumed aspect from the katsu bubba is very prominent in the ox and the cross with the flo which is also perfumed . for being in tiny pots and fully attacked and left untreated by broad/hrm mites.... The bud size was pretty amazing... ... Most nugs were larger than buds on plants in 5 gallon bags ! These were all in 1/2 gallon pots . these 3 phenos were fairly leafty toward the bottom larf area, but not too leafty toward the colas.

sounds good mtn, i guess you probably lost a bit of density to the leaf attack and pest problems. did you make some F2's? it would be interesting to see the variation in those as there seems to be decent representations of both bubbas in the F1s.

if it were me, wanting to sort through these seeds and find killer bubba plants, i would make a good load of F2s and then use them to find further keepers rather than be in a hurry to do loads of inbreeding. It seems that there is a reasonable increase in vigor in these 'F1s' and it would be good not to lose that.

did you end up making some F2s yourself?

Right verdant . I'm with you all the way on the f2 ' s , which I actually did not make yet. The 1 bubba male I got, I had hoped to keep for a while , so I was waiting to figure out which of the female phenos I liked best before making the cross. That way I would retain more of the bubba traits I'm looking for in the process. I did however use him on a phenomenal train wreck plant that I also lost due to the mites. The bubba male is still holding on, hoping I can get a cut , if I can get him healthy again. I also did use him on a headband , flo, and Bruce banner. All should be some of the best crosses ive made to date. I would gladly purchase these seeds, some great plants to found on here.
