HK..they appreciated it.
I'd say she made the most of the whole 20ltr pot.
(ignore the red spider mite attack)
1ltr fert bottle there for a bit perspective.
White Russian f8.

cyber echo..
It is definitely the way to go.

I grew a zuccini in a tub last year..and I could have hidden 10 underneath her and no one would know they were there.

My best camoflage tip is a large glass patio table.
Because of the height of them I can get 8 x 20 ltr pots under the table..and
viewed from above..eye in the sky..you would never know they were there.

It acts like a mini greenhouse for me too..
keeping the worst of the weather off them..

This is the non-af dc cross...with a view of her best bits..

I fell in love immediately..so I clipped the non-af as well.
Couldn't let quality like that pass me by..

a close up of one of the trics off the Bud-WIDER pheno.
The amber stuff is the most psychoactive bit apparently...
mmm..mmm...mmm..bubbles..

if you tilt your head to the left and look at it..it kinda has a look of Homer Simpson..:yoinks:

or am I smoking too much...

aah great to see so much of your work mossy, very inspiring!

and btw that DC cross looks mucho interesting! :woohoo:

can't wait to see how that f3 turns out. all the best! :joint:

C

cyber echo

you should try some extreme raised translanting on AFs to give em a size boost btw.
Works great for non-afs too i'd guess.
And yeah, the DC cross looks great. Wish it was AF :p
Im hoping the community can eventually create stable AFs without the smaller phenos

ps: blasphemy, there is no such thing as too much

mossy: Ever experienced a AF white russian? There is a Swede who claims that one of his WR was AF and he created a strain called SweStar (Joint Doctors LR x AF WR) from it.

SweStar:

The genetics were sold to some swedes who took it to spain to breed on it. They call themself Scandinavian Star. What do you think? New AF genetics or just pure BS? :)

Cheers perakko.
The DC cross is a joint effort.
Me and my m8's spent hours and hours of homework on her before I made the cross.
It is nice to be able to let them see she was Well worth it.

thought as much..
And yeah, the DC cross looks great. Wish it was AF
The F2'S in the pot above with the ltr fert bottle ARE the AF version
by the time it is @ f4..it will be 100% AF.

It is just the first time I have been tempted to preserve a non-af as well as the AF pheno.
The Black and the Crown Head are too good to miss.

BlackMagic..
the photos have x'd out.
If you mean a WR X LR cross..
that is one I posted above for HK..WR f8.
(BUT..MY selection points on it.)

If you mean a WR AF cross purely from within the WR pure line...
YES..perfectly feasible.
I got some out of a White Widow x Blue Mystic cross that hadn't had even a sniff of Ruderalis.
(I have it in the purple heart cross)

According to DJ Short grow book AF's were released onto the market once before..mid 1980's.
They were not well recieved..:yoinks:
but a lot of breeders made them so they got into the wider gene pool...
probably more so in home crosses.

Think of Natural AF (in the wider population) as the Ginger Gene of the plant world.
You may have a 10 generation line of black haired people with white faces..
but every now and then..
when conditions are right..
up pops the Ginger one. :yoinks:

Congrats on those MDanzig genetics..he makes a Cracking Cross.
I am looking forward to watching your thread..
particulally since they are his early work.
Lucky Dog..:woohoo:

HK..King of processing..
do you have anything Simple that I can do with the trics and chuff that gather in the grinder.
The stuff that passes through the fine filter.

I am sitting with a tub in the freezer that I keep adding to and never use.
Any ideas..?

The AK-47 above.
Single candle stick buds at the top..nice runs..long as a standard cheapo lighter
but I noticed her going a bit lumpy down below..yikes..
I like Perfect balance.
I was quite disturbed...until I realised that she was growing Buds on her Buds.

If you look at photo 2 you can see the single bud stem gripped
between my fingers..and I have outlined the full bud above.

Damn..I thought that was a Neat Trick..
3 for 1 bud.

First she puts the main bud up..then 2 little nipples develop on the bottom
off the main buds..and she grows 2 more buds..
all on the one stem.

Way to go Baby..:woohoo:

Although she is purple..
she is different from the JEM purples by the amount of Red she carries with it

When I researched the AK-47 I picked up columbian in her heritage..
it didn't specify but I thought IF it was columbian red
I would pick up a magnification on it when it met with the red in the JEM.

IMO I got it

Cheers lowrdr...I might try that..couldn't get simpler.

mossy: I see, didn't know that. I was just so damn suprised to hear the news, i mean a pure WR that autoflower'ed.... pretty much unthinkable, for me, 'til now.

Got to do my DJ Short homework better!

mossy. i have four of your jems in paper towel. two of them have popped so far. i'm going try them outside and in some miracle-gro organic soil. this stuff looks a lot better than the regular miracle grow that i use for my big plants.

Jeeze Mossy this thread blew up while I was gone.... Good see you pics of your ladies up again though..

Smokeythebear- I wouldnt use the miracle organic soil. I just tried some of that out and it didnt drain water at all.. Says on the bag that its not for potted plants. I didnt find that out till after i planted my beans in it then the soil never dried out....

BlackMagic..the one on the left is a JEM fore-runner AF and the one in the middle is the AF that come out of the WW X BM mix.
The WW X BM had never knowingly been near any ruderalis.

Page 74 of the DJ Short book says that breeders were playing with AF's between 1981 and 1986..so you can see see the window of opportunity for it to get out into the wider gene pool.
Because it is a recessive gene it can just sit there like a little time bomb until it hits just the right combination..and up she pops.
(I have a better reference to it in another book..when I find it I will post it for you.)

The other thing is..say you want to grow big long season girls.
You grow 10..
and 9 turn out just the way you want..and an AF makes an appearance..chances are you would pull it thinking you got a stumpy..
so you drive it back underground again.

HookaHittaH..man..you know I can talk the hind legs off a donkey..
I will be over shortly to see how you enjoyed your hols...got any photos..?

SmokeyTheBear...HHH seems to have had the same prob..and I have another 4 posts in my mails from people suffering the same probs.
I am not a MG hater..I have never used it..
I am against ALL pre-ferted compo for ALL seedlings.

You wouldn't feed a new born baby/puppy on beef-steak..their tummies wouldn't take it
you gotta wean them first.

M

Here is a guide..it is not a bible..
it is what my girls have Taught me over the time I have been playing with them.
My style of growing..my conditions..
so if anybody has better ideas..post them in here..
Old dogs can learn new tricks!!!!!!
and I am alway open to getting the best from my girls.

First off..no pre-ferted compo..for the reason above.
Baby food for babies.
The Breeder should have put enough into that seed to see it through the
seedling stage.
BUT..
in the AF's we have created a Hybrid..we have altered the basic plant by removing the after sex vegging stage..so they could use an assist.
In soil based compo..I very rarely feed unless I am delayed transplanting..or I have them multi-potting and they need and assist.

In soil based compo I find that they ASK for food at around 10-14 days..but you give them a tickle.
Try them on 10% of the recommended dosage.
If they react well..increase..bit by bit..you are weaning them.
ALWAY follow it up with a day of water feeds to flush.
IMO..if they want it..they will take it...
In pre-fert..they are sitting in it..they cannot move away from it..
you are force feeding them beef steak.

Second thing..specific to AF's...
Get out of the habit of thinking..small plant..small pot..aaiieee...:wallbash:
Small plant..Humongus root system...ask any AF hydro grower.
Think of AF's as Ice-bergs.
1/3rd up above the soil..2/3rds down below.
and it is the 2/3rds below the soil that does the business.

Do everything you can to disturb those roots as little as possible.
Long season girls have a second..long..veg time.
They have catch up time..AF's dont.
The first 3 weeks of their grow time is Vital to your yield.
General rule of thumb..if your AF is a skem by the time they have sexed..
you might as well scrap them.
They don't have a second veg...no catchy up time.

Third thing..germ straight to soil.
I have been working with plants for over 40 years..
when I germ to tissue and transplant..I can See a stop on them
and I am used to handling them.
It isn't necessary.
You are making work for yourself at the Most vital time in your seedling life.
STOP IT..make things as simple as possible...you will be rewarded for it in bud.

Seed to soil = natural conditions
seed to tissue = test-tube babies

so WHY do we do it..because it makes US feel better..?
trust in Mother Nature.

Most of us know how to create babies..
(although my memory is getting a bit dim in those areas)
But how many of us could manage IVF?
(and that is basically what you are doing germing to tissue)

THINK ABOUT IT.

Little tip..
IF you think they are asking for food in the seedling stage and you are nervous about feeding.
Dissolve a TEASPOON of sugar in a bit hot water..top it up to a pint with cold water.
Give them it at tea-time..check them the next morning.
If you see a leaf lift and they are smiling at you..
they are Asking..
start feeding as above.
