og Capri [2.8ltr] made 12k at auction the other week and will continue to go up imo,,
my weakness is front engined porkers,,,,,
had many and we have a lovely one presently with the one of the best historys i have ever seen and well over 200 reciepts starting from cars birth in 1990 ,all books and stamped service history, car has all the correct factory stickers in all the correct places,,,
Big service time after xmas with camchain, cambelt, water pump,,tensioners,,,etc, etc and a gearbox service,,,,
Nice work Spav,, very best for your future work,,,,,s2

Thanks man! I had a 86 Porsche too! a 944 Turbo :) was white with black interior. It had had a complete engine rebuild just before we bought it and it never missed a beat. A bit laggy compared with more recent turbo cars I've had like Audi S4 which had zero lag. You had to watch it in the damp because if that turbo hits mid bend... lots of smoke, tyre wear and ridicule from other motorists. was scary over 150 imo. suddenly felt too light. You had to be 110% focused to drive that thing hard or you die. The Audi could be driven hard by a learner

Yes spav,,they can be laggy as hell,,i got caught out in a 911 turbo when i was just 19yrs old,not mine of course,,,road was greasy in winter,,,boost kicked in when i didnt expect it and you can guess the rest,,,,,
you have you seen the price of 944 turbos recently?,,,,
some of the owners in the club have them with 350-400bhp but cost a fortune to get them to that level,,,
like the Audis,,love the og quattros but a £100k for a good one,,,RS4 =4.2 is a total wolf in sheeps clothing and we would have got one but realized my licence would be gone in no time,,,,,,beauty or curse of audis is how so much power and easy to drive they are and could get peeps in trouble very quickly...
i dont do any of my own spannering hence i wont own a turbo,,,,
power delivery is still brutal in an s2 and lots of torque low down and no lag, amazing balance also,,,s2

The username is a bit of a giveaway!
Always been a vw/Audi man but then a few yrs back got a Saab 95aero estate which I fell in love with in a big way.
Someone smashed into it and wrote it off, went left field and now in a supercharged Merc. First rwd I've had and takes a bit of getting used to lol

Good luck with the project Spav, looks a beast of a machine....

Speaking of old fords, i see there is no mention of the historic Mk1 / Mk2 Escort RS 2000.
Its that type of car i will never fall out of love with same can be said for the mexico and 1600 sport. Dream machines in there day and still are, back wheel drive for hard bends and cornering in the snow what more could you ask for.. Do be looking at the prices from time to time they can range from anything from 30 grand upwards to 50 grand though most have been built for either events or European rallies they do not have the same bhp as some of the previous mentioned but are no slouch either. Obviously well maintained and stored over a long period of time by some keen enthusiasts... I would be lucky getting 50 quid for that piece of shit of mines... Keep us updated dude with your progress.

you saying that reminds of when the starter on the Audi died. I got the new starter, got my dad over to help. Not much scares me or him so after a quick look we got stuck in finding someone else to do it  I called an Audi specialist who charged £1000 to do it. He had it a week and had the whole engine out.

og Capri [2.8ltr] made 12k at auction the other week and will continue to go up imo,,

12K was a BARGAIN mate! the seller was silly to let it go for that

Don't believe the crap about rare because its known in capri circles that a 2.8 injection special is exactly the same car as that "280" apart from the crap "Brooklands" green paint. Its well known 280s were thrown together with the very last of the parts, even panels that had been rejected earlier in production - they used the trash left over from 2.8 injection special production to make the 280s. They had run out of paint so nowhere that didn't show was painted so they rotted like pears. They were known to be rusty BEFORE leaving the factory, unpainted under the interior. A genuinely mint 2.8 injection special in Crystal blue or Storm grey a year or 6 months older would fetch MORE. If you find a mint, solid EVERYWHERE 280, its almost certainly been re-shelled with a injection specials shell.

Old Fords?

For nostalgic reasons, my favorite was my 1964 Ford F-100, short-bed, step-side, white in color, and brought to Alaska from Texas in the early 80s by another. Indian blanket interior door panels, a rainbow-colored mandala rear window decal, and the classic "Easy Rider rifle rack."

223 straight-six, three-speed on the column, a transmission you could crawl under the truck, puff your chest out after backing off the bolts and dropping the drive line, and wiggle the thing off the splined out-put on your chest with no serious discomfort. And enough room in the engine compartment to spread out and relax when reaching the very accessible parts and pieces.

Used to joke there was enough room to put a recliner in there when working on it.

18 mpg loaded or empty, but for slightly more when doing 90 mph down-hill into Albuquerque one summer, and crossing Saskatchewan with a serious tail-wind on another trip.

Her name was Donna Marie, named after an old girl-friend. They shared some similar behavioral traits. Run reliably right up until you needed them the most, and then...... Actually, in contrast, the truck was more reliable than she was.

Oil bath air cleaner was the weak link after the motor was rebuilt. That, and leaving the 140 weight gear lube I put in there for a trip down to the Mojave, and neglected to take out when returning to the Arctic. Trying to pull-start it at -53 f., we snapped a heavy-duty tow strap.

Ooops. 140 weight gear lube practically turns to rock candy at -50. Lessons of lethargy and procrastination learned the hard but meaningful way.

Then there was a brief relationship with a 1953 Chevy 3600 3/4-ton pick-up we drove north after grad school, but that's another less endearing story.

I like the ten or so year old crown vic police interceptors. you look like a cop so people generally avoid you on the road. Also, the engine can sustain 100 mph for a good while, so...

They say Ford drivers don't go to hell, cause they've already experienced it here on earth. I dono tho.. My mom has a Ford, seemed like a decent ride, had it on loan for a couple of days. :)

Hey spaventa,,,
yeah i wondered that,,seemed a lot of car for the money but may have been a " project " ,, og so may need restoration for the reasons you state above,,,,,so an original, mint with one owner who kept her in a garage for 40years and used dinatrol on a regular basis is rarer then hens teeth and would fetch immense money i imagine,,
great that fords are fetching that sort of money,,
my first car was a ford cortina gxl i think or an xl,,,,s2

Ive always wanted to lower the roof on a mk3 tina. it would look perfect if you got that right and lowered the car on the right size slot mags. Obviously this would only work if you painted it black, tinted the glass and put a V8 in it
