I usually find that those who use the term libertarian to be Tea Party converts.
There are those who see it for what it is.
Then there are those who twist it to fit them or those they seek to label.
In that way it's kind of like democratic socialism.

Given that the foundations Cato, Reason, Heritage, and American Enterprise Institute are, like the Libertarian and Republican parties and ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), wholly-owned subsidiaries of Koch Industries, I don’t think that would be very smart at all.
They’re the ones trying to take the government away from the people, and they’ll do it, too, if they ever have a one-party administration (including SCOTUS) *and* enough state governors/legislatures to auto-ratify their new upper-crust constitution.
They were one good election away from pulling it off, until the ‘18: instead of picking up the last few states they needed, GOP lost states AND lost the house. That was a real setback for them, as they’re set up to lose even bigger in ‘20.
libertarians here are referred to (somewhat accurately) as "pot-smoking Republicans". labels can be very deceiving/inaccurate.

Ah, the old Tea Party. The people who cared about deficits until a republican was elected. Now they are just fervent Trump supporters complaining about the people who criticize him. The same people who got in people's faces at town halls and shouted down many town halls to the point the event was cancelled now bitch about how divisive society is.

They all have to appeal to some majority they really are a mirror or wierd representation or amalgamation of different groups fears etc. People large groups of America are so freaking easy to manipulate with a few slogans to fire them up. Look at the Russian stuff they injected into the election.
Black lives matter because a group fears them they are taking our guns and Obama never took one nobody does abortion fired up so many so hot its crazy. Nobody has any more attention span than a few slogans. Fear motivates people to vote.
As long as we are represented by ignorant flashy actors appealing to base fears frankly were fucked. I cant believe there isnt an exam to test how much someone knows about anything and we hand them the keys.
Are these the two smartest best people to lead us and not start wars or all the other really stupid shit they all do? Their personal beliefs shouldnt even be known they should be the best at evaluating whats best for the people now and years from now.
This is getting really scary. When every scientist in the world say climate change is an issue and our leader says no its not and changes shit accordingly something is wrong. Were going to hell in a hand basket.
We get the leaders we deserve and I'm afraid we deserve to to have the world collapse financially or war or all the shit we race toward with glee every day. Its sad. Humans are dumb as dirt. The future generations will judge us worse than those that killed the buffalo. They will be right. We ask for these leaders.

Choosing between then really is like convict butt rape logic. You gotta pick one or get stucj with the other. But I say fk it the only way to win is not to play the game. There arn't enough to change the system because it reflects the masses fears or the politicians do. None of them give one iota about Truth.

Unfortunately the problem is deeper and wider than a Matthew Broderick movie: consider the fact that half the eligible voters don’t vote - and that’s not ‘new’. “Not playing” is how we ended up in the mess we’re in...it’s *certainly* not going to get us out of it.

Ending the foreign wars
Breaking up the banks
Ending tax breaks for fortune 500 companies and billionaires (taxpayer handouts)
Would do more for the "muh small govt" crowd than anything proposed by either party. The idea that the GOP are a small government party is pure fantasy.
American fascists hijacked the term. Libertarian used to mean anarchist and socialist before that.
Go back and look at the 1980 Koch libertarian presidential platform. It's fascism plain and simple.
