Basement Buds in Bed

I've noticed a lot of the new leaves on Girl's Best Friend are "clawing" these past few days. Chem del la Chem starting to claw a bit, too...I'm pretty sure it's not N toxicity (water-only), temps have been a little high but not terrible (Avg 83F lights-on, max 85F briefly). I pulled out my pH meter and tested 3 spots around the bed, all were 6.8-7.0. Need more acidity, ordered some aluminum sulfate to be delivered tomorrow. Does anyone have exp with the stuff?

I used to keep a cut of gsc that would only grow good in the shade. Some plants are weird. Hope u get all the dank you can handle.

Thanks Mattbho ! The girls are starting to plump up now, seeing changes daily. I'm not sure about the Lemon Party S1, though...this was a couple of days ago, just over 4 weeks into 12s:



She's done stretching now, so she'll either go 12-14 weeks and fill out a lot more (doubtful), or she'll be a very low-production plant. But still frosty as hell and smells good, just not as loud as the description would have me believe. But I don't want to judge before she's done, so...

Chem Mafia is not as bulky as the others' flowers, either, but still decent relative to her size. And her smell is through the roof.

Day 33 Flower
I applied half the recommended dosage of Aluminum Sulfate last night and watered it in. Checked the pH this morning and it hadn't budged a bit... I'll wait a couple of days and apply more once the soil dries out a little.

I'm digging the spears forming on Chem del la Chem F2...



Also like the contrast between flower and leaf on Girl's Best Friend.





I found one of the pre-flowers on Lemon Party S1 was pollinated and now has a bean poking out. I'm kind of intrigued by her lack of flowers...watch it be the best tasting stuff I've ever had! hahahaha






I got in the back corner to get a closer look at Purple Punch and am starting to get some artificial grape and berry smells coming off her. Smells delicious!





I keep pulling the Lemon Party S1 away from Chem Mafia to shine some light on the runt. She's doing pretty good, stinkin' up the joint something fierce!



Last up is Chem 91 x Triangle Kush with her single bun-in-the-oven. I took her clone out of the dome today and put it under the 65W HLG with the others; she was the last one.

I've started gently squeezing the buds, smelling the flowers. Mostly just paranoid about the -itis...but also curious on the various scents.

I was surprised when I squeezed Chem Mafia and got raw, unadulterated, straight-up Lime! I recently picked up some Lime OG flower on clearance at the dispo, and it brought me back to one of my first ever indoor bagseed grows. Tall, lanky sativa which smelled strongly of pine and something else, but could never put my finger on it. Until the Lime OG...dead ringer on smell/taste. Unfortunately, I didn't like the smell back then (I named it Snicklefritz around my buddies lol), and I definitely don't like the smell now. Oh well, at least there are lots of different options this round. Just blown away by the difference between the un-disturbed smell of the plant (strong cherry funk) vs. the pinched smell.



Girl's Best Friend is gonna be extra chunky, I think... Smell is fantastic, cookies and funk. Added some more Aluminum Sulfate, still no movement on the pH meter...gotta be doing something wrong there.



Chem del la Chem... I'm loving her more and more each day. She's stacking, frosting, and smelling delicious!





Lemon Party S1 smells like lemon cleaner, very interested to find out how she tastes...





Purple Punch it's as if I stuck my nose in a pouch of grape Kool-aid powder when I squeeze her. I'm digging that...



Chem 91 x TK the garlic smell is still there, but isn't really coming through on the pinch test. I want to like her, but I hesitate...

From what Ive personally learned about larger volumes of soil and ph is...

A) not to fuck with it too much as long as your water is relatively neutral 6.5-7.5

B) the plants dictate the ph of the soil near the root zone (rizosphrizosphere) . You would need to do something pretty serious to get a 1 point shift.

I've been doing slurry tests between rounds and usually get 6.5-7 i added a top dressing of garden sulphur on 2 of the pots after last round. My thinking was to help lower ph and hopefully add some terps to the summer crop..

You paid a good price fir that soil why don't you shoot them an email see what they recommend .

If it were me unless something was screaming at me . I wouldn't fuck around until the run is done.

I think iron deficiency would show up 1st if u truly had alkalinity problem its almost unavailable at 7.0 .

I'm getting a bit more worried every day, now... I noticed one of the bigger top fan leaves on GBF has developed some rust spots in the leaflet margins over the past few days. I'll get a pic next time lights come on.

EDIT: 91xTK still not sure if I should cull her...........

Lemon Party S1 has gone from lemon smells, to something rancid and vomit-inducing, seemingly overnight...

EDIT:. Could the aluminum sulfate have had this effect on terpene expression? Will it revert back, if so?

I'm simply at a loss, here.

Day 37 Flower (yesterday)

I'm questioning the status of the Chem del la Chem and 91xTK at this point, based on some funky smells I'm getting when I squeeze the buds. I've never (successfully) grown or had verified flower from any chem clone, so my nose doesn't have the slightest clue what it should smell like, regardless of how many descriptions I read about it online.

I'm definitely paranoid from all of the seemingly wasted time and efforts over the past year, and maybe that's shining through here... But I'm also getting sick and tired of giving my doll hairs to the tax man behind the counter at the dispensary, for what may or may not be decent flower or concentrate. I can't tell because, of course, No Seeing or Smelling Product Before Purchase.

So, unless I have 100% confidence that any of the ladies have whatever, mold mildew bud cancer, I don't think I have it in me to chop it/them. I'm too desperate...and I know fully well and good that it may mean losing the entire harvest. Again.

Purple Punch I found some clarity in her terpene profile last night...take a box of Trix breakfast cereal and put all the Grape pieces in a bowl and stick your face in it. That's about it.





Girl's Best Friend I'm pretty sure adding the aluminum sulfate probably caused the leaf rust issues, so no more of that until after flowering. She's looking and smelling great, though, except for the clawing.

Because I wanted to bring the pH down quickly, and Aluminum Sulfate is used to lower soil pH quickly.

I guess I should have asked a knowledgeable cannabis crowd first...

Ya you just dipped a little below optimum calcium absorption.


I bet they have already started to forgive you smokey.

These plants look like mine did when I used too much nitrogen in the soil . Neem meal was the culprit for me. Plants still grew out just longer skinnier buds they held on to the green as well. Not my best work but I smoked it .

I hope that your just smelling that chemdog bro . It can get funky. Fingers are crossed for you. Steer the course.
