Hi everyone! :)

As you may know, we offer Khalifa Genetics' landraces since this year. I met Aladdin their main breeder in person last year when i was giving a speak about landraces in a local club, we connected very well and i felt their great preservation work would be a very interesting addition for the profile of growers who visit our website.

So it's a pleasure for ACE to be able to help Khalifa Genetics on the distribution of their seeds. This thread will be the place to discuss about their strains here in our room on ICMag. Please, give a warm welcome to Aladdin and Khalifa Genetics! :smoke:

Balkh

Balkh

The Balkh hashplant is one of the most legendary afghan cultivars. This flavorful landrace variety has been used for hundreds of years for making a sweet and fruity hashish of the highest quality.

Afghanistan has the oldest hashish culture still in existence today. Furthermore, Balkh is probably the epicenter of the Afghan hash tradition. The Balkh province is home to some of the best sieved hashish in the world such as the famous “Milk of Mazar” and the “Old Golden One”. According to the legend, Baba Ku the famous healer who first brought cannabis to Afghanistan, was burried near the city of Balkh.

Just as many pure Afghan landraces, this variety typically produces a very clear stone and a pleasant body relaxation. Unlike many modern Indica-dominant hybrids, the effect isn't couch lock but rather relaxing and insightful. Potency vary from plant to plant according to the THC to CBD ratio. The plants range from high CBD-low THC all the way to low CBD-high THC.

This Balkhi cultivar is easy to grow and flowers relatively quickly. At first the plants all look very similar but as they flower, they start displaying a wide array of aromas, shapes and colors. Not unlike other north Afghan Landraces, the plants can be broad to narrow leafleted. The fastest flowering phenotypes usually display broad leaflets and are medium producers. However, the plants which require 10 to 11 weeks to flower can be very high yielders.

Thanks to its very high genetic diversity, this cultivar can be extremely useful to pheno hunters looking for rare gems.

As they flower, about 10% of the Balkh landrace plants gradually turn black. Towards the end of the flowering cycle, some of the plants have become completely black both on the leaves and flowers.

These Afghan plants are moderate feeders. They require higher levels of nutrients than most landrace varieties, though, not as much as most modern hybrids.

Landrace Genetics, central Asian landrace expert, personally aquired the seeds in the Balkh Province near the city of Balkh in 2018. The Khalifa team has then been adapting this strain to growing indoors by reducing the hermaphroditism and decreasing the amount of undesirable phenotypes while preserving a lot of genetic diversity.

This Balkh landrace variety could be a great asset to breeders and pheno-hunters looking for a cultivar full of genetic diversity.

Kerala Chellakutti

Kerala Chellakutti

From a remote mountainous area near the Tamil Nadu border, the Chellakutti is one of the most sought after South Indian landraces.

Unlike many Kerala cultivars, the Kerala Chellakutti does not have a fruity smell. The aromas are reminiscent of a delicious blend of spice and pepper with an underlying Hazy flavor. The effect is long lasting but totally devoid of body stone or tiredness at the end. It is a potent strain but with positive cheerful effects as this Sativa is uplifting and social.

The Chellakutti has been cultivated at 11° N in the wettest state of India, therefore, it can withstand heavy rains and is highly mold resistant. Nonetheless, the internodal spacing is relatively short compared to most tropical Sativas. The vigorous Chellakutti will thrive in a wet and warm environment such as a greenhouse. Despite the fact that its very long flowering time and tremendous flowering stretch make it a challenge to grow indoors, experienced indoor growers can also achieve great results.

Because we have carefully culled out all the mutated plants, hermaphrodites and weak specimens while performing a controlled open pollination indoors, growers can expect a high sexual stability as well as very few undesirable phenotypes.

The smell is very discrete at first as the Kerala Chellakutti only starts producing trichomes late into its flowering cycle ( around the 13th to 16th week of flowering). Then, the tropical lady starts revealing its beauty.

Although the state of Kerala is famous for being home to some of the most potent Indian landraces, most of the local landraces are in danger of extinction. In Kerala, these long flowering varieties are gradually being replaced by quicker flowering strains. On top of that, the habitat loss due to urbanization as well as the harsh eradication campaigns have caused this cultivar to be on the brink of extinction. Our friend from the Collector's Collective (Coco Genes) acquired the seeds directly from local Kerala farmers wanting to help preserve this endangered cultivar.

Even though this crazy psychedelic sativa can be challenging to tame, the growers with enough patience and skills will be rewarded by a burst of energy and a memorable cerebral high!

Kullu

Kullu

he Kullu valley landrace is a crazy Indian sativa with woody/Hazy aromas and a strong soaring high.
Elegant, slender and vigorous sativa with great resistance against mold. Its delicious, spicy and herbal aromas, combined with its soaring high more than offset its long flowering time. The slim willowy structure and the effects of this landrace can remind sativa enthusiasts of the old Haze.

Growers who are up to the challenge will be rewarded with very unusual smelling wispy sativa buds.
The aroma is very complex, it is a subtle blend of anise, culinary herbs and spices, reminiscent of the best Indian dishes.

The Kullu produces a pungent sativa smell during flowering. Even the young plants develop a strong woody/mushroom stem smell very early on.

Despite a medium THC level, the effects are surprisingly strong, stronger than many strains testing above 20%. The Kullu kicks in very quickly has a long-lasting effect. It is mostly a cerebral high which stimulates the mind.

Our friend, a member of the Indian “Collector Collective Genes” collected the seeds (The first generation) directly at source.

Last but not least, the Kullu Valley landrace could be interesting for breeder looking to create new vigorous, mold resistant strains with unique terpene profiles.

Laos Muang Sing

Laos Muang Sing

Highland jungle sativa displaying a tremendous vigor. Cultivated by the members of the Akha tribal group, this sativa landrace from Northern Laos is both colorful and flavorful. The fastest-growing, most vigorous landrace variety that Khalifa Genetics has ever come across. This ganja strain could also be one of the fastest-flowering strains of all Southeast Asia. The plants can get huge very quickly but are fairly easy to manage even indoors thanks to their rather short flowering time.

The Akha Tribe may have brought seeds from nearby Yunnan into northern Laos as they fled China in the early 20th century. That would explain why this Sativa-looking cultivar also displays some Indica characteristics. Indeed, the sweet creamy aromas, relatively short flowering time and big trichome glands make this strain stand out from most tropical ganja cultivars. It suggests a possible connection between the Yunnanese landraces and the tall southeast Asian Sativas.

This highland jungle Sativa variety produces large and very round seeds. The plants have broad leaflets it their first stages of vegetative growth. The leaflets then become narrower though they will remain broader than most tropical landraces.

This cultivar is able to thrive in very poor soils without even showing signs of deficiency. Although the height gain is extreme during the flowering stretch, the plants start flowering very early on, after only 3 weeks.

Many plants turn light purple towards the end of their flowering cycle. The purple phenos tend to have deep berry aromas while the green buds often express more of a floral/vanilla smell. Although it is rare, a small portion of the green phenotypes have a hazy/citrusy nose.

The taste is also quite interesting as most flowers have a fruity/soapy and woody taste.
The potency of the flowers ranges from medium to strong according to the phenotype.
It is a clean energetic effect at first which slowly turns into a calm and pleasant relaxation.

Bodhi, famous strain hunter and breeder, collected the seeds directly at source during his 2014 yunnan china and northern laos seed safari. A joint preservation project with the Mitseedco then allowed the team at Khalifa Genetics to preserve this rare strain while improving its sexual stability indoors.

This rare highland Laotian cultivar is recommended to collectors, preservationists and breeders looking for immense vigor, mold resistance and unique terpene profiles.

Rasol

Rasol

Authentic mountain landrace from the small Rasol Village. Rasol farmers have been growing this pure Himalayan cultivar for hundreds of years for making the Rasol cream, famous throughout India for producing a legendary and high-quality charas cream. The Rasol landrace is cold-resistant and relatively early maturing.

This is a pure sativa which is surprisingly fast flowering as it has adapted to the harsh mountain climate.
It isn’t hard to see why, with its powerful minty/fruity aromas along with its joyful high, Rasol produces one of the very best charas of the whole Himalayas. The Rasol landrace encompasses many different genotypes. Since it is a hash plant, some specimens produce high levels of THC whereas others are CBD dominant. Likewise, the plants express a wide array of terpene profiles. Therefore, it is a great strain for pheno-hunters.

It is one of the fastest-flowering Indian sativa landraces. In Rasol, the villagers harvest the plants from the end of September up until the beginning of November. Thanks to its cold-resistance and fluffy buds, the Rasol cultivar can perform well outdoors in northern climates. It is not very susceptible to botrytis and other fungal diseases. Many specimens have red stems even when the temperatures aren’t cold, a common trait throughout the Himalayas.

Our friend at Coco Genes collected the seeds from the 2018 harvest directly at source. The Khalifa team then performed a controlled open pollination (indoors) in order to increase the sexual stability. Thanks to the remoteness of the area, the Rasoli landrace is still purer than many other cultivars from the Parvati Valley. By the same token, Rasol is also much less touristy than neighboring Malana where the local landrace already shows obvious signs of hybrid contamination. That being said, it is paramount to preserve the genetics before the same thing happens in Rasol.

A percentage of each sale of Rasol seed pack is used to help the people of India preserve their Landraces.

Sheberghan

Sheberghan

The Sheberghan is an easy to grow, beginner-friendly landrace that produces one of the highest quality hashish in the world.
The plants are robust and can withstand important temperature swings.

Hailing from a multicultural region legendary for its sticky/fruity sieved hashish, this cultivar is a true hash plant producing leafy buds covered in large resin glands. Hash farmers near the city of Sheberghan have been using this highly resinous Sheberghan hashplant landrace for making some exceptionally sweet/fruity and very sticky hashish.

Sheberghan was a settlement along the ancient Silk Road. The region is multicultural and has a rich history. Most inhabitants of the region are part of the Uzbek ethnic group. However, many other ethnic groups are also present. Northern Afghanistan is renowned for producing some of the very best hashish in the country. Although more people have heard of Balkh and Mazar I Sharif, Sheberghan also produces a sieved hashish of exceptional quality.

The Sheberghan Hashplant soothes the mind and relaxes the muscles. Because it is a landrace full of genetic diversity, potency varies according to the phenotype. Therefore, the high can go from being mild and relaxing to being quite powerful! As with most hashplant landraces, the Sheberghan expresses a wide range of cannabinoids. Some specimens are CBD dominant, some are full spectrum with a balanced ratio of THC to CBD and others are THC dominant.

Most plants have a pleasant hashy/earthy smell with subtle notes of Skunk when flowering. Although the smell isn’t too pungent, the weed is very tasty which suggests a high sesquiterpene content. It is a very sweet taste that coats the mouth and throat and lingers for a while.

This easy to grow, beginner-friendly strain is a true hashplant landrace producing leafy buds covered in sticky trichomes. Not only the flowers but also most of the small leaves display a thick frosty coat of resin glands. Depending on the phenotype, the buds range from being moderately dense to very dense.

The plants are easy to manage both indoors and outdoors. Outdoors, the most plants are ready for harvest in October. Most of the plants display the typical broad Indica leaflets. However, some phenotypes can show rather narrow leaflets.

Landrace Genetics personally collected seeds in the Jowzjan Province near the city of Sheberghan in 2018. The Khalifa team has since worked on adapting this strain to growing indoors by reducing the hermaphroditism and decreasing the amount of undesirable phenotypes while preserving most of the genetic diversity. Landrace Genetics is an expert strain hunter specializing in collecting and preserving Afghan and Pakistani Landraces.

Siberian Rudelaris

Siberian Rudelaris

Giant and vigorous autoflowering strain with good trichome production. The villagers near lake Chebarkul (Russia) have been using these semi-wild plants for making some incredibly flavorful, high CBD charas.

This Siberian Rudelaris variety can thrive in some of the most inhospitable places on Earth. The high vigor, hardiness and extreme flowering speed combined with the autoflowering gene allow these landrace plants to grow in places where most cannabis strains wouldn't stand a chance.

This Chebarkul landrace strain is likely to be the result of a past hybridization between the landraces originating from nearby Kazakhstan and the local Rudelaris variety. This would explain the pungent citrusy smell, high trichome production as well as the mild psychoactivity of most phenotypes.

Central Asia is likely to be the place were cannabis was domesticated for the very first time, over 14 000 years ago.

These seeds are the result of 3 generations of controlled open pollination. By decreasing the proportion of weak plants and hermaphrodites while preserving a high genetic diversity, we were able to adapt this strain to indoor growing.

The plants automatically start flowering after only 2 to 3 weeks after germination. As the Siberian Ruderalis plants are flowering, they keep getting taller and taller until they reach 120 to 190 centimeters. Towards the end of their flowering cycle, over 25% of the plants turn purple. Not only are these plants vigorous but they need very little nutrients in order for them to thrive. Even less so than most landrace strains because they naturally grow in rocky soil.

The Siberian Ruderalis comes from a place where the winter is extremely cold (-21°C in January on average). Therefore, the seeds have a very thick, waterproof shell which allows them to only sprout in late spring when the winter is over. For that reason, cold treating or cracking/nicking the seeds is recommended. Soaking the seeds in water containing Aloe Vera gel and cracking them after the soak allows to achieve germination rates over 80%.

In this explanatory video you can learn how to do this process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgqzqGdMXhQ

Note that each pack contains extra seeds so growers can practice the seed cracking method.

Our friend “Guardian of the Lost Terps”, a member of the “Russian Landrace Bureau” handpicked the seeds (the first generation) directly at source.

The Siberian Ruderalis Landrace could be a precious asset to breeders looking to create hardy XXL autoflowering strains with a very unique flavor and high CBD content.

Germination of Sibirian Ruderalis

Germination of Sibirian Ruderalis

Hi Aladdin,
I have a question about the seed cracking of the Sibirian Ruderalils.
I had no germination success until now (8 seeds left out of 18 in a package if I remeber right). After a good soak (10 days) in a cup of water on a heating pad, I have tried cracking some with tweezer and some with finger nails. In some cases the white inner of the seed oozed out. In other cases only a soft crackle could be heard, what made me optimistic at first.
Is it better to press the edge or the curved/flat surface of a seed?
How should the germination rate be when only freezing and afterwards soaking the seeds?

The annual average temperature of Siberia is only 0.5 °C, it's one of the coldest places on earth. Using a heat pad would seem detrimental to the germination of seeds from there not beneficial

Give me some kullu and skunk one thing I'm wondering is if kullu can beat Malawi or it's hybrids like killer a5? Not gram for gram but overall how high can it get you? I understand after a bit of self reflection and pondering the meaning of smoke reports I came to Nirvana lol smoke reports are opinions and you really can't talk shit about anything until you smoke it yourself also it won't be the exact same plant and yea etc etc opinions

It gets above 68 F in the summer in Siberia. That is what I read anyways.

Got the Chellakutti today. My name and address is very clearly written on the envelope and they still sent it to the wrong address. 22 days of wondering/waiting since they mailed it, and now the payoff!!

I am gonna pop all the Chellakutti next grow, have a good feeling on them. Gave me 14 seeds, not gonna complain.

Question for khalifa, what is your trippiest strain? What is your favorite strain?
