Root porn

I've been lamenting the lack of root mass present when I finish up runs, so this thread has me sold. There's some tea brewing right now. Great White + Ancient Forest + Strapped.

I am running Blumats and generally I like to run as little as possible through them. Right now I am just running pro-tekt and jack's in the reservoir. I will be handwatering the tea in manually.

Do you think opening up a smart pot(mine has velcro) would hurt the roots and plant considering roots are coming threw the pots and opening them up could tear the roots?

I do think it would do some damage. If they're coming through...trust all is well and leave them be~DN

DreadNeck those roots are top-shelf quality

I would nominate you for root mentor :woohoo:

So its a combination of the tea, the aquarium bubbler, the great white,
the maintenance of slightly warm temperatures, the hand-watering,
and the use of deep-water culture (DWC) which promotes explosive
root growth?

:ying: kind regards from guineapig :ying:

Thank you sir!
For making the tea...yes.
Hand watering my tea is just something I prefer. I use drip emitters and don't want anything gunking up in there.
I'm in coco at the moment but I think teas are absolutely essential in DWC. DN

This might sound strange, i only just joined this great site after recently coming across the 'root porn' thread while looking for info on brewing teas, only wish i knew about this earlier:)

I'd just like to say a big thanks to Dreadneck for his efforts & to everyone else who contributed to making this a 2 cool for skool thread :D seriously impressive ..

a little about me :) I've been growing for a few years only, using only the coco hempy bucket, been reading up On EWC as long as i can remember through a friend with more then 20 years experience growing with teas in DWC..shame he got caught! so my research kinda stopped there..also never had the time/energy to make the switch.. think that time has come anyway:D very happy lol this looks simple...

this will be the first tea of many that i brew..

have some questions on using the tea which will be used for flowering since plants were flipped 4 days ago.

how do i know the NPK of the tea to tailor for the feed and flowering time?

Should i simply make the tea, dilute it down then add to the base chemical nutrients or use it on its own in between feedings?

to me this tea on its own seems weak for flowering guys, sure i'm missing something else? if i use it with other nutes that would be okay. should i use through flowering?

currently have 3 nutrient lines laying about, all used in coco hempy before with okay results:
canna coco a+b, Pk13/14, rhizo
Dutch Masters a+b, DM add27 , Zone
Advanced iguana juice, mother earth super tea(organic)
H&G roots excel.

rekon the best method to apply the tea is with organics? if so once a week soak them in tea +iguana juice NPK is 4-3-6 or mother earth super tea 3-2-5...Need your thoughts and opinions on this please...

also preparing a foliar feed with seaweed, i've heard many good things on it.. will let you know how it goes :)

thanks for looking.. & sorry for the long one ..looking forward!

over n out..

I am handwatering it in on it's own. I run a drip system that delivers my base nutrients separately. I like to run as few things through the drip system as possible, really only base nutrients. A bonus of handwatering it in is not needing to filter or separate the Ancient Forest from the liquid part of the tea. I just dump it all in.

Now my question: Is there any significant difference between Mycogrow Soluble and Plant Success Soluble? They are similarly priced. The benefit of Plant Success Soluble is that I can buy it locally. Mycogrow Soluble seems to have a few more fungus and bacteria. Does anybody have an concentration information on these two products? Obviously if one was half as concentrated as the other it would make a huge difference.

hobb i would google ewc tea and have a read around. In the middle of getting my old pc up to get all EWC related info from someone with 20+ yrs using it.. no point relying on the thread that is showing no interest mate.. sometimes gotta do things yourself.. don't be afraid to look it up in the end it more rewarding when you get the answer you want by researching..

no need to ph the tea.. micos supposed to help keep a good PH.. imagine it would ph down would kill organisms lol deff read more... ill send you some links when i find them..

Hey buddy,
Welcome aboard! I wouldn't worry about the npk value of your tea, it will be minimal anyway. The purpose of the tea is to keep a strong biological community in your root system. By doing so, you strengthen your plants defense systems, keep pests at bay and help manage unused nutrient in your medium.

Think of a weekly tea regimen as the smoothie you drink on Monday to make up for all the bad shit you did over the weekend.

I never ph my tea.

I always hand water my tea. I pour a half a cup or so of undiluted tea into the crown (around the stem) of each plant.
I take the remainder of the tea and mix it, in a separate container, with nutrient solution and water the plants. I don't put tea in my reservoir. This is just a personal preference. I think Capulator recommends putting it in your res. This cat knows what he's talking about when it comes to tea, so concerning tea...if he tells you it's Easter...start coloring your eggs.

Tea will work with any nutrient line, although I've heard Zone kills bennies. I'm not familiar with EJ mother earth tea though, just go for it bud~DN

Either will work. You're actually breeding bennies when you brew a tea so either will work. Plant Success is a good company with a good product. I use it myself. There are many MycoGrow fanatics out there...for good reason, great product. Point being, just like nutrients...they all get the job done~DN
